Bill Schmalfeldt’s Dishonest Denials (and Where the Trail of Evidence Leads)

“Especially important is the warning to avoid conversations with the demon. . . . He is a liar. The demon is a liar. He will lie to confuse us. But he will also mix lies with the truth to attack us. The attack is psychological, Damien, and powerful. So don’t listen to him. Remember that — do not listen.”
— The Exorcist (1973)

For reasons I still don’t understand, Ali Akbar decided to permit Bill Schmalfeldt to degrade himself as a “guest” on Ali’s podcast today. If you listened to it, you know that Bill proved conclusively (as if it were not already proven) what a twisted deranged freak he is.

Every time Ali referred to one of Schmalfeldt’s grossly obscene smears, Schmalfeldt would begin cackling with insane glee, evidently enjoying some kind of sadistic pleasure at his own perversity. Although I called in for a couple of segments, I did not enjoy it, preferring to avoid direct contact with such evil. At one point, Schmalfeldt was challenged about his repeated false claims that I still live in Maryland and dishonestly denied having made such claims.

“[W]e have no REAL proof that McCain ever moved ANYWHERE, that he STILL lives at his nice litle house . . . in Hagerstown, Maryland . . .”
— Bill Schmalfeldt, Nov. 23, 2012

“There is a large fraud being perpetrated on conservative Internet users. . . . [Robert Stacy McCain] raised money for this ‘flight from Maryland’ on his blog. If he did this and did not actually flee the state as he said, he raised money under false pretenses which is a felony under Maryland laws.”
— Bill Schmalfeldt, Nov. 25, 2012

Those are just two examples among scores — perhaps hundreds — of times Schmalfeldt has made this false accusation, and this is a motif with him: Accuse people of crime based upon his own baseless speculations, and then proceed to harass the target of his lies, claiming this is an “investigation,” demanding “proof” his lie is wrong.

“Tell the bomber where you live, Stacy! And while we’re
at it, let’s talk about your wife and children . . .”

Freak.

Anyway, while Ali Akbar said he plans to use the audio of Schmafeldt’s demented ravings as evidence in future legal action, I was uncomfortable with the cruelty of permitting this mentally ill man to further embarrass himself. At one point, Ali asked Schmalfeldt about his bizarre claim that Ali had a sexual affair with Karl Rove. And as might be expected, Schmalfeldt managed simultaneously to deny having made the accusation, while also suggesting it was true.

Now, I’d often heard this weird accusation mentioned in jest, but as it was obviously untrue, never bothered to see where it came from. And where it started was with an Alabama lawyer named Dana Jill Simpson, who made the claim in a letter she wrote on June 26, 2012. In that letter, Simpson said she got her information when she was “contacted by a political operative on the left.”

Hmmm.

So “a political operative on the left” dreamed up this Akbar-Rove smear, sent it to a lawyer in Alabama, who then repeated it in a letter to Bob Bauer, the top lawyer for Barack Obama’s re-election campaign (!), and from there it metastasized into a delusional rant on a blog called “Legal Schnauzer,” which got multiple comments by Schmalfeldt (as “Liberal Grouch”) and the ubiquitous Matt Osborne:

Matt Osborne said…
While I’m not about to go and say this report of a gay tryst is true, what IS definitely true is that Rove has been deeply connected to the National Bloggers Club since it started. Brett Kimberlin, the man they first tried to frame for their fake SWAT calls, embarrassed the hell out of Rove with one of his “merry prankster” performances back in 2004. I would not be surprised to find out that Rove has been using them for all manner of Nixonian ratfuckery. Anyone who’s been reading my blog lately knows I have been tangling with them over a hoax they tried to pull on me and other people in the #stoprush movement. There is no upper limit to their criminality, IMO, and Rove’s involvement shows that.

This claim “that Rove has been deeply connected to the National Bloggers Club since it started” is just a flat-out lie. But because Bill Schmalfeldt is crazy, he can’t distinguish between reality and fantasy, between truth and lie. Therefore, in Schmalfeldt’s warped mind, Osborne’s assertion of a Rove connection to the National Bloggers Club became a “fact,” which Schmalfeldt subsequently undertook to “investigate,” and from there, as they say, hilarity ensued.

OK, so who is Dana Jill Simpson? A gadfly conspiracy theorist who, among other things, made unsubstantiated accusations that Karl Rove conspired against former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman. She also co-authored a recent classic of paranoid kookery, “Black Hat Versus White Hat: The Other Side Of The Snowden/Hastings/Barret Brown Cases.” (Really gives me confidence in somebody’s work when there is a misspelled name in the headline.) Now, ask yourself: Who was the “political operative on the left” who got this kooky lady interested in the bogus Rove-Akbar sex smear?

Hi, Neal.

Somewhere off on the lunatic fringe, Neal Rauhauser is always trolling for gullible kooks like this Jill Simpson who will help publicize his conspiracy theories. And the fact that the Rove-Akbar smear got turned into an actual series of articles at Legal Schnauzer (one of the few places where anyone takes Jill Simpson seriously) tells you just how gullible some people are. And then you have weirdos like Bill Schmalfeldt and Matt Osborne, whose desperate quest for relevance inspires them to repeat stuff they know to be false — e.g., that I didn’t leave Maryland — simply because they know such lies will be applauded by the small circle of kooks who admire Brett Kimberlin.

“Facts don’t matter, that’s the perception of the situation, and the world is going to act on that basis.”
— Neal Rauhauser (“Gaped Crusader”), Nov. 26, 2011

See, Neal Rauhauser understands that many people are either indifferent to truth or too stupid to know truth from lies. Neal knows that if he can generate enough “smoke” of suspicion around one of his targets, intellectually lazy people (i.e., most people) will jump to the conclusion that “where there’s smoke, there must be fire.” And these people who assist Neal in his games — among them Matt Osborne and Bill Schmalfeldt and, evidently, Jill Simpson — either (a) enjoy helping disseminate falsehoods, or (b) don’t understand the game.

They lie gleefully, because they have no conscience.

They have no decency and they have no shame. Selah.

UPDATE: John Hoge replies to Matt Osborne:

I have been to Stacy McCain’s house. It is not in Maryland. Period.

But in Osborne’s depraved mind, this just proves the “conspiracy,” see?

  1. Ah yes the Legal Schnauzer a blog that actually thought fail blogger and SEO reputation smear specialist Crystal Cox of Montana was just an innocent woman being bullied by all the people whose lives she tried to ruin. Color me surprised.

  2. So let me get this straight: Unless I physically meet someone, shake their hand and look them in the eye I do not “know” them. Well I do not need to actually meet someone who defends Brett Kimberlin to know they have profound character deficiencies. “Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

  3. Under that rule, Bill Schmalfeldt doesn’t know me even though it’s clear that he has looked fairly extensively into my background and that he hangs on every word I publish on my blog or Twitter. We’ve physically met in court. We’ve looked each other in the eye.

    But we’ve never shaken hands.

  4. The easiest way to discredit Bill Schmalfeldt is to quote Bill Schmalfeldt give him almost two hours of air time.

  5. If you shake hands, I hope you have a generous supply of disinfectant with you. No telling where that hand of his has been.

  6. I notice that when Schmalfeldt wanted to talk about the registered mail card, instead of discussing why Kimberlin didn’t follow proper rules (so anyone could have signed it..and did), instead of addressing the Kimberlin lie that a “Process server” had found you there, instead of addressing any other myriad of issues with the card, he went straight into wanting to drag your wife into it. As far as I know, no one has attacked Bill’s wife, yet he shows no hesitation in attacking anyone’s wife, kids, neighbors, employers etc.

  7. I know that Larisa A has a Neal connection because she published some
of Neal’s stuff thru Raw Story. Did Neal work at Raw Story too? I know
that Ron B did. Also is really interesting that Larisa seemed to
explode onto the scene in ~2005 (no history previously and she has said
it is not a real name) and then disappeared a couple of years later. Does Larisa really exist? Maybe was Neal under alias? Reading some of her stuff sure sounds like him.

  8. See, Neal Rauhauser understands that many people are either indifferent to truth or too stupid to know truth from lies.

It doesn’t have to be either/or for Team Kimberlin. They’re mythomanics, but when confronted with a truth they have no escape hatch from, they brush it off as “not important”, since it doesn’t confirm the bizarre conspiracy theories they’ve constructed inside their diseased minds.

  9. My name is Jim March and I know something about this situation because next month I’m going to marry Jill Simpson.

Some background is in order so you can get your story straight.

First, Jill received a grand total of one Email from Neal Rauhauser – I’ve seen it. Yes, he wanted to be buddies (“can we talk sometime?”) with Jill and she blew him off – I’ve also seen her response telling him to get lost. That Email is her sole contact with him, ever. This was on December 28th of 2012 which was long after her letter to Bob Bauer written just after Karl attacked Jill last year on Faux News claiming a connection between Jill and Bauer that didn’t exist. So Jill decided that a connection with the Obama campaign might be a good idea if Karl thought it so when she was contacted by some Obama people after Rove’s ravings. That caused Jill to agree to investigate and I got hired as her research partner and bodyguard, and we “clicked” while traveling together to 22 states as Jill gave me a guided tour of Rove’s empire.

We proudly took down Rove’s whole election conspiracy in various stories, and it was our research for the Ohio election lawsuits that caused Karl to make a fool out of himself on Faux News on election night when he thought Ohio was scheduled to get stolen and whoops, it wasn’t.

I also know that she has absolutely nothing to do with Roger’s story about Rob Riley and Liberty Duke. Stacey, she knows nothing about that alleged affair one way or the other, nor does she give a damn.

Now, why are you linking Jill to this ongoing fiasco? Part of what Jill and I were investigating last year was shaky election policies including Crossroads GPS, the Karl Rove vehicle for evil that just yesterday got busted for back-channel money funneling sans donor info, see also: http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2013/10/california-investigation-reveals-so.html – did Karl’s little toy get popped and he’s going on yet another half-cocked rampage, and dragging you in it?

Karl likes to blame Jill for all his troubles and sees her even when she’s not there. That is absolutely what’s going on this time and I recommend you don’t get wrapped up in it and tell a bunch of lies on Jill.

    Sincerely,

    Jim March

  10. That @OsborneInk douchenozzle has managed to turn it into an art form. If he’s not claiming the truth and facts someone has presented are — Irrelevant! Old News! — he’s weaving-and-dodging in order to avoid responding to a direct question the likes of which I’ve never seen (or, he simply defaults to his grammar/comma-nazi shtick).

I’d wager as a Team Kimberlin JOURNAMALIST! he has deemed himself above having to participate in honest debate, and views answering direct and pointed questions as being beneath him. *eyeroll*

  11. He lost any reason for me to lend his story credibility when he started with the “Faux News” crap. With the normal partisan stuff like the “Karl Rove vehicle for evil”, no wonder that as I read all I could think of was ….”Hi Neal”

  12. Listening to the interview with Schmalfeldt, something seemed familiar. The laugh. He has the same maniacal laugh as Craig Gillette.

  13. There’s no alleged affair. It’s made up an irresponsible to print. I’m a human fucking being and Jill Simpson should lawyer up buddy. Tell her not to worry about coming to Texas. I can come to Alabama. I’ll dine with the Governor and then spend the afternoon cashing in favors with Alabama lawyers.

  14. I am in fact Jim March, not Neal writing as a sockpuppet.

It’s easy to prove: within minutes of posting this I copied the same text to Stacy McCain and Smitty’s Email accounts from my personal Gmail account, which I use all over the place and a few second’s worth of googling my name against that Email account can prove.
