Send Angels to Fort Bragg

Our soldier son with Mrs. Other McCain in April at Fort Benning.

Well, I knew this day was coming, and now it begins.

He just turned 21 last month. Those of you who have paid attention know what this is about, but “OpSec,” etc. When he first told me about this, I thought he was crazy. Eh, we all know that’s hereditary. What kind of crazy does it take to volunteer for something like this?

So now, for three weeks, all we can do is pray.

  1. Well, he might make it towards my neck of the woods during the Q course. Prayers to him in his coming ordeal by fire.

  2. Charlie Mike, Private. But Stacy, not sure Angels are up to the job or we wouldn’t need spec ops.

  3. McCain, not having any military experience, I have no idea what your son is fixin’ to do. I can say that I only wish all of our sons the best as they are fulfilling their dreams, and also the dreams of their fathers. I pray those dreams do not involve eating dog, and if they do, pray they be really hungry.

  4. Mr. and Mrs. TheOtherMcCain: Philippians 4:7

    Soldier Son TheOtherMcCain: Deuteronomy 31:8

    ALL of God’s people: 1 Thessalonians 5:17

  5. Let him make it through this, and the “bursting with pride” part will be good. Right now, the “racked with stress” part is eating me up.

  6. Keep in mind that St. Michael has been around far longer than army, before Marines were a twinkle in Jefferson’s eye.

  7. Ears open, mouth shut. But I guess it’s too late to pass that along. Ever notice that some of the best times of our lives are also what we think are the worst at the time? Ah, memories…. Will be praying for sleep, strength, and a good mental outlook for PFC McCain. Look forward to hearing how it went for him.

  8. A clarification: HOOAH is for enlisted men, and shows enthusiasm and dedication to the mission.

“HUA” is an officer level acronym, and it stands for, well…

  9. Before I got to Ft Belvoir, I’d assumed it was “Hooah” and that it was kind of a “rallying cry” of sorts, until my 1SG said it stood for “Heard, Understood, and Acknowledged”.

  10. You bloody Protestants and you’re thinking that you have to call in Angels. Don’t you know they’re always there watching over good and decent men like your son? [They’re also always there for the sinners, too.]
