I have had the good fortune to be accepted in the world of the left (I work in the theatre) and the world of the right (attending a church), and I can tell you for a solid fact: Right wing people are the same behind closed doors, while left wing people are utterly vile when they think they’re among pals. They talk on and on about this sort of stuff – murdering and maiming, and ALWAYS with a sick, sexual angle to it. They want to “hate f*ck” Sarah Palin; they want to rape George Bush to death. It’s been very educational and very disturbing.

  5. And remember, if we aren’t treating these people with kid gloves we are aggressing against them or something. Any disagreement with the lockstep stupidity on the left is an attack on whatever victim group is popular today. But by God, they’ll let you know just what they think of you (usually something along the lines of how you should be thrown in a camp, lined up against a wall and shot, or be castrated/forcibly sterilized – depending on your gender) if you even think about applying even a basic smattering of logic to what they’re spouting. Because not a single bit of it is logical and they know it. You should just feel it and don’t go any deeper.

    The Dems used to have pro-gun or pro-life people. Is this still true? They used to have a few sorta-fiscal conservatives too.

    The Republicans are quite diverse, but what I hear most from the “concern trolls” is that what Republicans need to do is shut up the Tea Party and be more moderate… like Democrats. But “big tent” means ideological diversity… that there is room for Ted Cruz and there is room for Rand Paul and there is room for moderates like Paul Ryan, too. (Yes, my examples are all white-ish men… but I wouldn’t want to support the error of viewing pigment or girl parts as equaling political diversity by saying Ben Carson or Alan West or Jindal or Governor Martinez or Niki Haley.)
