NEW ORLEANS
After a busy first day at the Republican Leadership Conference, we headed to Daisy Dukes on Chartres Street for a midnight breakfast. Yesterday, Sarah Palin was a surprise speaker here at the Republican Leadership Conference, introducing Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson, who made news:
In a speech he delivered Thursday, Robertson did just that, telling the GOP to “get Godly” and decrying some of the White House’s recent actions as “downright embarrassing.”
At the heart of Robertson’s message — a half-hour speech that was delivered at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana — was the notion that Republicans need to get back on track by reconnecting with the Lord.
“GOP, you can’t be right for America if you’re wrong with God,” Robertson told the crowd, according to the Washington Post’s Post Politics blog. “You want to turn the Republican Party around? Get Godly.”
He later quipped, “I guess the GOP may be more desperate than I thought to call somebody like me.”
As for President Barack Obama, Robertson said some of the things coming from the White House are “downright embarrassing,” the New Orleans Advocate reported.
“We’re up against evil like I’ve never seen in my life. I’m sitting there and I’m thinking, ‘What’s coming out of the White House?,’” he said. “The only thing I can tell you folks is it’s just downright embarrassing.”
Robertson also spoke out against racism, noting that one’s skin color has nothing to do with a person’s character.
“There’s one race on this planet, and it’s called the human race,” Robertson added. “Therefore you have no right to color-code anyone. We’re all the same family.”
Today: Haley Barbour, Donald Trump, Allen West, Mike Lee and Newt Gingrich.

Please tell me that you don’t measure compassion by how many times I interfere in your life and say “Stop! My god says you are doing it wrong!”
No, it says I don’t accept that a monotheistic view of Divinity is universal, and I don’t think people should act as it was.
It must be why there are “interracial” relationships too.
Not so very long ago in some states, it was an “interracial” marriage if it involved different faiths. I’ve heard people tell of “interracial” faiths that crossed the Mason-Dixon line too.
Nationalities have been referred to as races as well. References to the Irish race, English race, and German race used to be common. To refer to nationalities as races is not improper, even if stretching things a bit, when you realize what a race actually is.
You’re entitled to your opinion. Even God will not try to dissuade you beyond the efforts He has already made. The price to be paid for going your own way will be extreme.
That you don’t believe that will not change your fate by a micron.
Or we could just call it human and be done with it.
Did it occur to you that you are no longer using a biological basis in your argument?
And there you go, presuming to speak for the Divine in regards to my fate.
I’m sure that makes you feel important. Worthy. Superior.
Do you think you would take offense if I did the same thing to you?
Or do you think your faith supersedes mine?
Just in case you’ve forgotten:
It always seems to come down to whose belief comes first, who presumes to speak for the Divine, and what happens when someone disagrees.
You aren’t paying much attention and are simply desperate that things go in a direction you prefer. A race is simply a a group of people that are more related to each other than anyone else. If that ain’t biological, then there is no biological argument.
I presume nothing. God gave us His word. In that word He has stated what will become of people that reject His way. You have done so.
I really don’t care what you think you can do to me. And no, I do not feel “worthy” or “superior.” I’m simply the messenger.
Oh boy, the fun I could have with that one starting with the history of the European royal families and working my way into the Black Panther movement.
Instead I’ll just restate my point. Most of what we define as “race” is not biological. The “race” argument inevitably descends into a tribal argument over “mine” being better than “yours.”
Yet that is precisely the same thing you have tried to do to me…
You can believe that if you like. You give no more force to a bald assertion by placing it in bold than simply making it otherwise.
Your welcome to think that as much as you like.
How nice that you gave me permission.
Doesn’t refute my point though.
You’ve never made your point. It also stands four square against the facts, so it’s something you’ll never prove except in that fantasy land your inhabit.
Since you seem so slow on the uptake, it’s another way of saying I’ll waste no more time on you.
No. People have been pushing race like it represents discrete values. No such discrete values have been ascertained in science.
The fact is, skin color is part of a continuous curve, just as other variances are on a continuous curve. No one scientist in all of history has been able to point out where one such supposed “race” begins, and another one ends.
That’s the science of it. Also the math.
“I want a government that is smaller than absolutely
necessary.”
1. Are you sure you meant to say that?
2. Please give me three examples of laws that were passed based solely on religious faith that made the US a “dangerous tyranny.”
Take your time.
Not sure what you mean by “discrete values,” but race is a fact. Anthropologists can tell the race of an individual from his bone structure, and even before the genome was mapped they could tell from the DNA what race they were from.
That’s not the first or even the ninth time you’ve said that to me.
Getting back to the point though, your issue is that I won’t bow before your faith.
Ironically if I were a Christian telling an atheist that I wasn’t bound by their belief, you’d be cheering me along.
You’re okay as long as Christianity comes first. The way you treat other faiths reflects that. That’s why it’s condescending. That’s why you think it’s kind to even acknowledge that other faiths exist. That’s why you think they should stay in their place.
But I did, and you helped me prove it.
At this point, the more you try to prove that “race” isn’t mostly cultural, the more foolish you’re going to look.
“I want a government that is smaller than absolutely necessary.”
1. Are you sure you meant to say that?
Yes.
2. Please give me three examples of laws that were passed based solely on religious faith that made the US a “dangerous tyranny.”
How curiously limiting. You will allow nothing about how existing law was perverted by leaders in the name of the greater good. You demand that I show how religious faith alone was responsible for the law. You will allow nothing about certain people regularly launch crusades to get this or that bit of dogma passed into law. And of course you assume that Christianity was the only belief system I was talking about.
This isn’t three card Monty.
Hardly. You have made a number of unsupported statements, including “race is mostly cultural.” Science has said otherwise, and I’ve pointed out where.
When someone points out what you’ve done, and you say the opposite has been done, you make yourself look foolish. You remind of the discussions I’ve had with Calvinists. No matter what is said, they are invincible to the facts.
I’ve never said or done anything of the sort. I have warned them of their destiny, but I’ve had cordial relations with Muslims and Buddhists. You think anything that doesn’t set well with you is condescending. You are entitled to your opinion, but your “facts” remain in dispute.
Instead of lying about people you should, at a minimum, write based on what they have said. That’s what I’ve done with you.
Once more, you lie about me. I don’t fault an atheist for not agreeing with me. I will still warn them of their destiny.
No, you don’t fault people for not agreeing with you, you fault them for not putting your faith first.
But you did it here.
And you did it there.
Otherwise “destiny” would never have been part of the conversation.
“To refer to nationalities as races is not improper, even if stretching things a bit, when you realize what a race actually is.”
“People stick with those that are like themselves. That’s why people naturally segregate.’
And you, sir, have simply become a troll.
And you, sir, are a troll.
And that is a result of the biological facts.
And, that, my ignorant friend, is firmly rooted in biology.
A Christian disagrees with another belief system and that is discussion.
But if a non-Chrisitian does the same thing, that is trolling.
Interesting. I disagree, but you knew that.
Or maybe I don’t like double standards.
You might as well talk about dog breeds.
Oh wait, you already did that.
Would you like to start talking about purebreds next?
Using your distinctions, we might well classify women and men as separate races.
Well, there are times I might agree with you there.
Nah, you just accept your own and no other.
You know what trolling is, but you’re simply crediting me with something I’ve never done, because what I’ve doesn’t sit well with you. You keep poking, which is classic trolling.

One tends to put the ‘oh noes, Christians are theocrats’ down as either K-razy, or dishonestly seeking scapegoats.
Why should I treat Paganism which is the worship of ancestors raised up a notch, or a redux of the same, seriously? Those pagan gods? Jupiter? That’s Japheth, son of Noah.
Libertarianismi is not so crushingly wrong, but its still about imposing moral values based on religious or spiritual notions. And once you crack that door, you have no reason not to open it wider.
They absolutely cannot tell where one race leaves off and another begins. Not from DNA, and not from looking at populations. Skin tones and shades are not discrete values. They are a continuous curve. Same with every single marker they used to attribute to belonging in a so-called “race.”
Race is a meaningless, non-scientific concept. It becomes more meaningless with all the new data we have on genomes, populations, genealogy, history, and migration.
Heh! Yet, what I stated remains. It’s far from meaningless, or unscientific. I’ve been hearing that from a number of people, yet a persons race CAN be determined from their bone structure and DNA. Even the admixture can be determined from DNA.
I started on this thread by disagreeing, and then you “poked” in calling my religion “one of the most hateful around” despite you knowing almost nothing about my faith or practices. And then you proceed to tell me that my fate is doomed because I do not put your religion over mine.
Who is trolling?
I don’t ask you to revere paganism. I do point out that other people have their own faiths which are at least as important to them as yours is to you. If you can’t accept the religion, you could at least respect the person within reason. Obviously if that person “transgresses” against another than all bets are off.
I could point you to some who will insist that you can have liberty without having religion.
Me, I take a simpler solution. If I respect yours, you should respect mine. And neither of us should use faith to control the other.
You are. Just as you have with this. You keep going on and on and on….
I’ve said before what your destiny was. You don’t like it and that’s fine. That’s all I will have to say on this thread. Generally I ignore you and I’ll return to that until you say something stupid again and we can go round again. It seems to entertain you.
