    Imagine that you’re reading an article about assault, and it sounds like it’s about civil liberties and being fair to the accused, throwing around technical terms like “false positives” and whatnot. And then, halfway through, you realize that it’s about being fair to white people that are accused of assault by black people, as opposed to automatically believing the black person. There isn’t any consideration of mutual assault, such as a drunken brawl that is regretted by both the next day; even it was initiated by the black person, that would just be a white-on-black assault, because apparently only white people are still responsible for their actions when they’re drunk.

    That’s how I see Megan McArdle’s article on rape. She’s such a hardcore female chauvinist that even when she’s trying to be fair to men, the entire exercise is fatally undercut by her sexist prejudices. For example:

    People who are fighting to stop rape, on campuses and elsewhere, are interested in driving the number of false negatives as low as possible.

    That is provably false. Those SJWs are interested in driving the number of false negatives of women raped by men as low as possible, and in driving the number of false negatives of men raped by women as high as possible, because patriarchy. They deliberately avoid using the common-sense definition “non-consensual sex” for that very reason, carefully defining their terms so that two equally impaired people can have an equally regrettable drunken hookup, and end up in different statistical categories because penis.

    It’s kind of funny and sad that in a post about fact-checking, she failed the test.
