Julie Zeilinger (@juliezeilinger) has found a new feminist hero:
[F]eminist vlogger Kat Lazo . . . recently decided to stride confidently around her Queens, New York, neighborhood in the nude, and then post footage of the NSFW stroll online for the masses to see.
“I can say that there hasn’t been a day where I’m not consciously fighting against the voices in my head from the pressures of society’s beauty standards,” Lazo writes in a blog post explaining her decision to film the video. “It’s exhausting to constantly reject the lies that the media and sometimes even your own family feeds you. . . . I wanted to silence all the voices in my head so I could hear my own voice.”
Consulting a few online psychiatric sources, we learn that people who hear voices in their head and run around naked may be suffering from schizophrenia. Haldol or Thorazine are often prescribed to control these symptoms. But the feminist lunatics are running the asylum:
At the end of the day, Lazo . . . wants to “challenge the media, question social norms and encourage young folks, particularly young women, to think critically about the world.”
Sure. Go ahead. “Think critically about the world.” But don’t forget that the world is also thinking critically about you, and we’re pretty sure you need a daily dose of Thorazine.
Women like @TheeKatsMeoww used to be called lunatics. Now they're "vloggers" because … FEMINISM! http://t.co/J4LaLBcJx1 @juliezeilinger

Take any random crazy woman, sign her up for a Twitter account and she's a media star because …. FEMINISM! @juliezeilinger @TheeKatsMeoww

"Doctor McCain, she hears voices in her head and runs around naked. What is your diagnosis?" "She's either a schizophrenic or a feminist."

Yeah, there’s no depth of insanity they won’t get into.
She may be crazy, but she ain’t naked. Clearly wearing bra and panties under the bars.
“She’s either a schizophrenic or a feminist.”
That’s not an either/or situation.
“While Lazo admitted to Mic that making the video was
“nerve-wracking,” she hopes it will show women that the problem “isn’t
their bodies, the problem is a society dictating how women should look
and act.”
Easy to say when you are an attractive (sans personality) young woman. Wait until you turn old and wrinkly, then tell me about problems of the body.
There are much better drugs, now, that suppress the voices but allow emotions and even orgasms, the lack of which was the down side of the old drugs, and the reason that the patients often stopped taking them at the first opportunity.
May we assume that she was not raped or otherwise assaulted during this experiment? In Queens? I assume she’d be trumpeting that had such a thing occurred. It would appear that in the War Against Rape, the whole #Rape Culture Narrative was the first casualty.
Fake but accurate?
One’s a resume-enhancer for the other.
“If we weren’t all crazy, we’d all go insane.”
She hears voices shouldn’t be long before she is a department head at some prestigious university
There are many economic, cultural and social problems that Thorazine could solve, globul warming for example.
Prolixin is better one shot lasts a month
But are they cheaper, we need them on an industrialized scale.
Yeah but those new drugs are also so damn dangerous
Is it cheaper?
Cheaper than the newer stuff. I really don’t know the cost as I was just the mere relief med nurse and administered the psychotropic medications
Can it be made in a bathtub from common household products? We’re not looking for results for them here, we’re looking for relief for us.
It’s sad the way feminists must resort to appealing to men’s base instincts to get any attention. In what way is this different from a stripper?
You know, she could be riding the stationary bike or running on a treadmill while she was arguing with those voices in her head. I’m just saying….
No, she is miles away from the nearest elitist frat house….
Feminism: The haunting fear that some men, somewhere, may be happy. (Apologies to H.L. Mencken)
Hahahahahaha!
Like somebody walking around in their underwear is in any way shocking or edgy these days. In fact, I’d be really happy and relieved to hear that people on Folsom Street during certain times of the year were actually wearing underwear.
Another future Peace Bride.

It beggars belief that this has become normal behavior that is to be celebrated and awarded heroic status. In the meantime our true heroes like Chris Kyle are vilified by liberal scum that wouldn’t know an heroic deed if it hit them in the face. (NB: Telling the world you are fond of sodomy and have a mental illness is not heroic)
I wish I could remember the exact citation I’m thinking of. I think it’s from Vol. 1 of A History of the Crusades by U of Wisc. Press, edited by Kenneth Setton. Don’t even remember if I spelled his name right.
Their is a passage that describes pre-Crusade Europe as having a madness in the air where people ran naked through the streets.
Could that have been one of Andrea Dworkin’s 9 million feminist witches running from their fate, or the cause of that fate? Or maybe they immolated from friction after being run down by excited men.
“…from the pressures of society’s beauty standards…”
Again I ask: Isn’t SHE trying to impose standards on us?
What if I feel pressure from her standards? What if I simply can’t live up to them like I’m supposed to? What if I just can’t conform to the new standards of wiping out the heteronormative sexual binary patriarchy?
Is it possible civilization drives people mad? Try and imagine a woman in a rice field in Bali, carrying firewood in Pune, India or plating chili peppers in Guatemala. Do you think they have body issues? I think that partially explains why I can get along so much better with a Guatemalan farmer in his corn field part way up the side of a volcano than I can Westerners. Wind and rain and dirt make for simple realities and leave little time for imaginary resentments. I have no idea how many Mayan Indians suffer from mental health issues but I suspect far fewer than we do.
I feel raped by her deception.
But…but…you’re a member of the patriarchy! Aren’t you among the ones who have caused all Bad Stuff™ throughout the entirety of human history???
I say she’s an attention whore in drag as a feminist.
show yer tits!
Look I’m wearing a swimsuit because patriarchy shames me with its constant messages aimed at me through electronic devices and bus stop ads and Bettie Page rock-a-billy posters I see on lamp posts and birds chirping at me from trees and chittering squirrels who are always angry about something. They always run when I try and hug them, just like I do when men try and hug me except I’m not a squirrel.
Your anti-feminist tribe has jumped the shark. Invoking a cartoon level devil and now gleefully mocking a playfully silly gal confronting body image anxiety akin to any pop star singer. This means you will be rapidly stereotyped as retrograde conservative instead of as reasonable people. It’s quite obvious that the gal referred to our every inner dialog, using her own voice to artistically express the social media era intensity of it in young women. Why crap on that? She is a real feminist not a social justice warrior scold.
I’d say we’re mostly a 14th amendment group but thanks for the racist allusion to the savagery and primitivism of Third World people of color. I also enjoyed your feminist stereotype of a “silly gal” which caused this poor milk maid to run helter-skelter in the streets to alleviate the pressures in her cranium. My own inner dialogue runs more towards ignoring hopelessly moronic ads about skin cleansers and buying a keen Franklin Mint set of dishes showing the Signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. I have never run in the streets in my underwear while somebody videotaped me and then put them on the internet to scold the Franklin Mint and Dove for their incessant yammering which puts pressure on my brain pan vis-a-vis my ears and eyes. What’s up with that stinkin’ Franklin Mint? Have they no lives, or understand the meaning of mercy? Dove seems to be a cruel friend. They lack compassion. I curse Dove and the Franklin Mint. It’s like reading a horror story when I don’t want to and I am always scared.
“This means you will be rapidly stereotyped as retrograde conservative instead of as reasonable people.”
Concern troll is concerned.
“She is a real feminist not a social justice warrior scold.”
This is like trying to differentiate between different flavours of dogshit. “But THIS type of dog poo isn’t swirly…”
Like Tide soap and ads for pimple cream, this woman is a cruel friend.
Does that Franklin Mint stuff really appreciate in value?
I used to do something similar: I’d take a bus to Lake Rodrigo Freitas in the steaming night and run around its 7.2 kilometers. I suffered. I didn’t want to do it. My face felt like I could bake bread in my mouth. I didn’t do it cuz of TV commercials mercilessly pounding my head but because I wanted to be healthy. That requires work. If her video of her running around were an hour long and every day, she’d stop running around once she achieved the desired results. She’s actually kind of a hot chick. She must have male pigs constantly vying for her attention. How does that translate into “the line of male pigs should be much longer.”
Strippers have a better attitude.
Yeah, but it’s like a meth lab: you have to tear the house down after you’ve done it.
Wait, I thought that feminism meant that women were now independent from how they happen to look. Why should the
young ladyempowered woman care what she looks like? All we need to know about her is what she has accomplished in school and in her career, right? What she is “fighting” is human nature; it is human nature, and has been for as long as we know anything about human nature, that other people — primarily the opposite sex — are more or less attracted by physical appearance. Different cultures have different concepts of what is or is not beautiful, but none of them have no concepts at all.
She’s unhappy that she’s not a super-model. Well, BFD, neither are the vast majority of us. Time to get over herself.
Rush once asked his mother about PMS. She said “I was too busy to have PMS.” I’d say those third world women are in the same boat.
But, the bars were placed by someone we know and love.
Only to the extent it depreciates in value.
It’s value is knowing that your kids and grandkids are going to have a hell of time getting rid of it after you’re dead. It’s like a shiny curse from beyond the grave.
Alternatively, you can laugh knowing that the IRS will be cussing a blue streak trying to sell it off to pay our estate tax.
It’s quite obvious that the gal referred to our everyday inner dialog, using her own voice to artistically express the social media era intensity of it in young women.
No shit!!??!! So, it’s not unlike our host using the running around naked/voices in head bit as a springboard for a little tongue-in-cheek response?
Which some very earnest, serious people don’t get.
So much for my dreams of avarice being funded by my limited edition Star Trek 3D chess set in 14k gold plate and sterling silver.
Feminism!!!
So, let me see if I can understand this:
A fairly attractive young woman decides to strip to the buff, take a stroll around her neighborhood, and put it out there on social media for all to see. OK: sounds like a very juvenile vanity trip so far. Maybe we can get her a gig on “Girls Gone Wild” next time.
But then she starts to yap about… um… Well, I’m not really sure what the rest of her point was. Something about feminism?
This is just another example of what “protest” has become in our country: less about making a decent point about things that you think ought to be changed and more about 15 minutes of “fame”.
