‘Draw Mohammed’ Contest Winner Will Be Added to SPLC ‘Hate’ List

Attacked by Islamic terrorists and listed by the SPLC:

Bosch Fawstin, a former Muslim who won the Muhammad cartoon contest at the Texas free speech event attacked by two gunmen Sunday, will soon be added to the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) list of hate groups.
Mr. Fawstin won $12,500 in prize money at the event, sponsored by Pamela Geller’s American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), for a drawing that showed a sword-wielding prophet in a turban shouting, “You can’t draw me.” In reply, a cartoon bubble portrayed the artist as writing, “That’s why I draw you,” Reuters reported.
The SPLC, which already includes AFDI on its annual list of U.S. hate groups, plans to add the artist to its 2016 report, Heidi Beirich, who leads SPLC’s Intelligence Project, told Reuters on Monday.
Ms. Beirich said Mr. Fawstin would have been listed before Sunday’s attack, but the center did not know his location. The organization has since learned that his website is registered in New York City, Reuters reported.
“He’s like the artist of the movement,” Mr. Beirich said, calling his website “virulently ugly.”
“His views, they are hate views,” she added.

Much like being sued by Brett Kimberlin, having your name on the SPLC’s hate list is becoming a badge of honor.

  1. A badge of honor indeed. I hope that he creates an entire series of fact-based cartoons mocking the greedy clowns at the SPLC.

  2. Ah yes, the SPLC. The group that has actually inspired an instance of terrorism is accusing others of hate again. This is like a Klansman condemning someone else as racist.

  3. Or Obama claiming somebody is divisive.

Oh wait, he actually does that, doesn’t he?

  4. Considering the actions and motivations of one Floyd Corkins, I’m still waiting for the SPLC to declare themselves a hate group.

  5. I want to elect Republicans who fight so that I’ll see the day when the SPLC is shut down by the DoJ.

  6. SPLC is just another in a long list of leftard scams. It’s run mostly for the benefit of Morris Dees.

  7. Agreed, you are not truly on the side of right, good and justice until you are on their list.

  8. “Southern Poverty Law Center” sounds so much nicer than “jack-booted thugs hellbent on destroying liberty.” I can see why they went with that…

  9. It is absolutely unbelievable how far this nation has intellectually fallen in the last several years. You have the spectacle of the core science fiction and fantasy community – or in another words an entire literary movement – with a thing like a KKK institutionalized right into its heart with virtually no awareness that is so and now this. The SPLC should get an award for Useful Idiot of the Year.

For all the bragging and smug idiocy I read out there about how much better this country is, it isn’t even as intellectually self-aware as the best of us from 100 years ago. Did America have some brutally stupid and even cruel institutions then? Absolutely. Was America a suicide cult then? No.

They must be laughing their asses off in certain places in the Middle East at the sheer naivete and even Orwellian madness that has gripped sectors of this nation. The question is: how much further are we going to fall? I’ll tell you what: when you can stare hate speech right in the eye and call it “social justice” and reverse that out for freedom of speech you have gone nuts. Apparently freedom of speech now depends on how violently one reacts to an offense. If someone had bombed Christ in urine and the Hunky Jesus Contest, I guess gay groups and fine art museums would all be on hate group lists for needless provocation of Christians.

  10. Stop blaming the SPLC or President Obama. They don’t exist in a vacuum. If this country survives as a free nation, they’ll look back and call this “The Crazy Years.”

  11. We have a whole nation of functional illiterates who can’t read cursive, don’t know any history, haven’t read the classics and think they are educated because they can text.

  12. Drawing the ire of an enemy is generally a good thing. One might even say it is something to strive for.

  13. Just who is behind the SPLC, it sounds like a front organization for one of George Soros’s minions, like an off shoot of Media Matters or some other braying jackass organization that deals in and uses communist type tactics or smear and intimidation.

  14. SPLC – PLEASE be aware that I share the exact same views as the artist – I cannot draw anything but a beer out of a tap, but it’s ok if you need to add me to your list, thanks

  15. All you need to know is that they have about a quarter-billion in the bank, their so-called “hate map” is produced by their fundraising arm, and their other work pays for itself (class-action lawsuits and classroom materials).

I’m fairly confident that they would’ve gladly been neo-Nazis if it paid better. From where I’m standing, it looks like a scam, all about the money.

  16. Denounce yourself, hateful beer drawer, or we’ll send a couple of guys out to…uh…drop the ball on shutting you up.

  17. I hate that for him. I don’t wish the lake of fire on satan himself. that’s Dee’s choice, however. he’s refused to heed the warnings, as have so many like him.

  18. Given the Islamic views on homosexuality, can we safety assume that those conducting gay marriages will similarly be added to the SPLC hate list?

  19. It’s funny to me when my left wing friends respond “you know, X is designated as a hate group/individual by the SPLC” as if their designations hold any weight outside the far left.

  20. To label Morris Dees qualified to judge hatred is like declaring Dear Leader Obama qualified to determine the efficient practice of medicine – so pathetic and bankrupt to constitute parody.

SPLC is the Obamacare of clear thinking and reason.

  21. Concerning the SPLC and the cherished sacramental rights, I think gay marriage rights trumps the rights of jihadis to lop Christian heads, but abortion activist speech trumps both.
