Still More Feminist Tumblr

Is every teenage girl with a Tumblr blog mentally ill? “Rebekah, 19, Bi/Pan/Queer . . . abusive father . . . self harm . . . anxiety and depression” has deep thoughts:

“So much f–king heteronormativity in this house”

Let’s see, what else? Her mother is a racist, and Rebekah frequently applies the word “pathetic” to herself, e.g.:

“I always feel so pathetic because I would literally love to hang out with anyone whether they’re friends from Pacific or friends from high school (that I haven’t spoken to in two years) because I’m bored and sad and lonely, but I don’t think anyone wants to hang out with me and no one ever has.”

“I missed out on what were probably my only chances to hang out with people this summer because who would want to hang out with me?? No one, that’s who. I’m pathetic and no fun and people are only ever friends with me out of the convenience. They’re only friends with me because they see me every day at school and it would be more effort not to be friends with me.”

What a lively bundle of cheerful optimism!

The thing about Tumblr feminists — as with all feminists, really — is their bedrock conviction that men know nothing. All men are bad and wrong and stupid, the feminist believes, and the only things men ever do are (a) enjoy male privilege and (b) oppress women.

Fortunately, the suffering victims of oppression have Tumblr, where they can advertise to the world how pathetic they are, and how racist/heteronormative their mom is, etc., etc.

When I call attention to these pathetic creatures, I’m sometimes accused of an intent to “bully” or “harass” them. Because this is the definition of “harassment” in 2015: Quoting what people publish on their blogs.

All I did was search Tumblr for “heteronormativity,” see?

Strange people you can find, if you know how to find them.

Would I like to help these crazy people? Sure, but feminism by its nature means that nothing I say is valid, all my ideas are wrong, and no advice I might offer would be helpful. The young feminist must only ever listen to what her fellow feminists tell her, because everybody else is evil in this world full of heteronormativity, misogyny and, of course, racism.

They have been catechized, as it were, into this belief system. When you see a teenager slinging around jargon like “heteronormativity,” you know this isn’t something they just picked up at random. Eight syllables? How many teenagers do you know who routinely use eight-syllable words? No, “heteronormativity” is a word that is being taught to these kids, and the obvious question is, why? Think about it. If you know any actual 19-year-olds, you are aware that very many of them are almost completely ignorant of the classics, the Bible, Shakespeare, history, literature. How many college sophomores know any Latin? How many of them could tell you anything about, say, the Boer War or the Battle of Midway? Yet amid this vast ocean of ignorance . . . heteronormativity!

When I first encountered this bit of feminist gender theory jargon a couple of years ago and quoted it in a blog post, everybody laughed. “Heteronormativity? WTF? ROTFLMAO!” Yet gender theory is to 2015 what disco was to 1977 — it’s the hot new sensation that’s sweeping the nation. Gender theory is now hotter than John Travolta and the BeeGees were when Saturday Night Fever topped the charts.

Like I keep saying: People need to wake the hell up.

  1. Eh, I like helping people, and I’m mindful that the internet is global and easily accessible. A random stranger could be a kid, or not a native English speaker, or just didn’t have access to good schools growing up, so I don’t mind taking some time to give a real answer.

  2. Very well, actually. I started counseling her at 14, and told her all along that life always seems crazy when you’re a teenager and caught between two worlds (childhood and adulthood), but not to let that get her down or hold her back. Over the years, we resolved parental problems that were actually non-starters and only a problem because of her teenage misperception. We resolved suicide issues, runaway issues, boyfriend/lack of boyfriend issues, and potential college issues (also non-starters).

Now she’s 18, graduated this month, is going to a local college for nursing, and is a beautiful, well-adjusted young woman. I imagine we’ll be friends for a long time to come.

And incidentally, I counsel online through a Christian ministry. Her parents didn’t know. All her parents knew was that she’d attempted suicide before. They tried her on conventional therapy, which was proper, of course, but it didn’t work out. It was bringing God into the picture as a higher, and ultimate, moral authority that made all the difference in the world. Unlike a secular therapist, I never claimed to have all the answers. I claimed that God does, so let’s just see what He has in mind for you, and that worked for her.

Others I’ve counseled like this were possible success stories, but none stuck with me as long as this girl, so I don’t have any information on any long-term, permanent improvements.

  3. Is having a gay / feminist tumblr the equivalent of announcing, “I hate my life. I hate myself. Please, somebody help me!”?
If it is, then I think that encouraging these people to become/remain feminists is the equivalent of handing a cutter a supply of razorblades…

  4. I only say that as someone who works at a ministry literally answering Biblical questions online, and 90% of the time, I just copy & paste the question as-is from their email and go from there, lol.

(And the other 10% of the time, those questions are AMAZING, and would blow your socks off.)

  5. I’m pretty sure that “Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwlllla-ntysiliogogogoch” was one of the words I said during my 18 hours hard labor with my first born, along with a lot of other words I won’t repeat here, lol.

  6. I’d be interested to read your article.

Christ cast out demons repeatedly, in just about every town he visited.

  7. But of course. And the ones who are like that would respond the same way you just did.

And if it’s so abnormal, why has it spread so quickly and so widely?

And it’s insulting only if you put yourself in that group subconsciously.

What I stated has nothing to do with how “strong” you are. And claiming that men affirm your opinion is meaningless.

Fish don’t know they’re swimming in water.

And the other fish can’t tell either.

  8. Note the instinct to cluster and reaffirm ones proclivities.

They are more likely to admit mental health problems because they have more of them.

And the psychological/feels industry is full of those who enter it due to their own problems. Thus there are an overabundance of female practitioners ready and willing to show how statistically women are saner by declaiming there insanity.

“Those men just don’t want to admit they’re as crazy as we are” is the tune here. Note that the possibility that men just don’t let themselves dwell on things so they don’t become problems isn’t considered a possibility.

No Women’s ground state is THE ground state to be assumed for all measures.

Thus men can never match women because they’re . . . MEN!

    See how that works?

  9. From your comments to me above, I’m totally not surprised your in some professional capacity as a “counselor”.

  10. Would I be wrong in assuming the answer to your entrance question is “No, but it helps”?

  11. I’m actually a professional mathematician. That’s my day job. But I’m a Christian counselor and Christian content writer by night, lol. It doesn’t pay as much, but is a lot more satisfying, that’s for sure.

  12. No. I don’t see how that works, actually. Certainly hasn’t been my experience.

I’d also like to hear you state who determined the definition of “sane”, considering that there’s not generally a medical test for it.

  13. I’ll finish it this weekend, and they will post it early next week, then I’ll link it. At least I’ll know that at least one person read it, lol.

  14. I’m retired and have been so for 15 years. I seemed to have given myself a life that I now have very little free time

  15. It’s not that women are more crazy than men, they aren’t actually by the number there are more men who are committed. Women are more viable ’cause really crazy men commit crimes and go to prison.

  16. My point exactly. Furthermore, there’s a continuum of crazy, such that one person’s “crazy” is another person’s “creative”. Nd then there’s total wackadoodle.

But by the definition of jakee308, ALL women are insane. I think we would all say, as we do, that feminists who universally condemn ALL men as rapey oppressors are insane. So is the condemnation of ALL women just because they’re women.

  17. No, jakee, I just think you’re totally full of crap when it comes to women.

I have no nerve which you’d be capable of striking with your unfortunate view of my fair gender.

  18. I don’t think men are as easily manipulated as women, plus unless they are homosexual men don’t have a social movement that rewards them for being crazy

  19. Take note of the men who live with mommy and daddy well into their 30s, 40s and beyond. I see a lot of immaturity and irresponsibility, and it’s not because “women drove them to it”. That’s a bs excuse. They may not have a social movement, but that’s because it requires an effort.

Nobody in any Western country puts a gun to somebody’s head and makes them behave in a certain way (except people with literal, instead of figuative guns). They do it because they’re lazy, stupid, irresponsible, immoral or a host of other things, but in the final analysis, they do it because they want to do it. We have no one to blame but ourselves for either causing it, or letting it happen.

This applies to every demographic without exception. Amd it really started escalating in this country when God was removed from the public square, and the next thing you know men are supposed to act like women, and women are supposed to act like men, and nobody’s happy and satisfied, but most don’t know why.

None are blameless. All are guilty. That is my point. We have committed sin crimes against God, and we are mystified when God removes His hedge of protection and allows judgments to fall upon us.

And it is only going to get continually worse.

  20. That would be true. As it turns out, most do it because they get a rush from it.

This could be compared to teenage boys’ greater propensity for impulsive risk taking. (Which is why their car insurance is higher. Presumably teenage girls are not cutting themselves while driving.)

Teenagers are idiots. They should all be under the close supervision of their parents, but you can’t hang on them 24×7, lol.

  21. Oh, and incidentally, I’m not saying that people can’t be possessed. Some clearly are, and need deliverance.

But there are untold numbers of people who want to blame their sins upon spiritual warfare and evil spirits. Mostly these are Christians, but if you have the Holy Spirit, you cannot be possessed. A Christian’s body is a temple, and the Presence of God is in it. There is no Biblical example of a Spirit-filled Person being possessed. But if you can think of one, please let me know.

Note that the people with demons thrown out by Jesus were not Christians, and this was before Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was given. After Pentecost, the disciples, once again, were dealing with unbelievers.

So, in my article, I’m not speaking about unbelievers who are legitimately possessed (and who would experience medical and psychological effects going beyond what represents sin in, coincidentally, this one thing). I’m speaking about people who are believers, but blame habitual sin on the demonic.

  22. Given that there has been a totally excessive adoration of women in America for decades, a bit of overreaction the other way seems something to not be at all concerned about.

And that leaves out the question if there is overreaction. Woman, on average, being more nuts than men, by a wide margin, seems quite reasonable.

It is plausible that, like anything else, the top 100 in any field are men, and that the hundred nuttiest of nutbars in the USA are all men. But the difference between the Few, the Massively Insane and the great masses of flipped out women is in numbers. You’ll likely never meet one of those on the List of Ultimate Nuts, but you’re likely to meet, this week, some woman with more issues than a Cosmo magazine.

  23. I see what you’re saying, but I think it’s worth de-conflating two separate issues.

    1. Men are more tribally expendable, so Mother Nature seems to experiment more with men, resulting in a higher variance. For example, with IQ, men dominate both the top and the bottom.

2a. The male physique is clearly designed better for surviving lethal threats. The same divergent selective pressure would logically apply to the male psyche, which implies that men (on average) probably have more of whatever what would make a difference there — such as persistence and focus — and less of vulnerability traits such as anxiety and depression.

2b. This also implies that IQ is not great at averting lethal threats, or we would see something like with physical performance, where (with equal training) all but the weakest men can surpass all but the strongest women.

2c. And, if there are any mental illnesses that give a survival advantage in the face of lethal threats, then men probably have more of those.

  24. It’s a fun word, but (if I understand it correctly) basically describes attempts to impose Sharia restrictions against depictions of Mohammed. Which makes me a prodisestablishmentarian.

  25. It is unfortunate. But it is a view forced upon me by reality. I fought against that view for years until one day I toted up the things that women do universally TO men and how they treat them and how they treated me.

And it added up to a belief that this was a normal state for women (perhaps only in the US but I have my doubts).

I saw it in rural towns. I saw it in college towns and cities. I lived with a variety of women of differing ages, backgrounds and occupations. And the current feminist movement rhetoric (actually it’s more of a manifesto than rhetoric) pretty much highlights the actions and inner beliefs and workings of women minds and emotions that I’ve observed for 65 years.

Of course you don’t want to admit that you’re sisters in kind with blatant fascists. I understand that but the facts are that they voice your gender’s true viewpoint as it is displayed by your gender’s actions.

Actions not words. And I didn’t say ALL women. But then that’s one of women’s main faults when dealing with men; they react to what they THINK they heard and not what was actually said.

I thought about listing the actions that are commonly performed but it would be a waste of time as you won’t accept their validity no matter their truth.

And I don’t waste my time with women who won’t admit the facts anymore. As a result I’m happier, calmer, at ease with life and myself more than at any time in my life.

Can’t argue with that reality. It just IS.

  26. Ah yes. The first go to comment when a women meets man who has disagreements with their view. Somehow it’s MY fault that women are the way they are. See the parallels with the feminists that Stacy’s been writing about?

    That’s THEIR first reaction too.

Ad hominem attacks and intimations of some lack on my part for having the temerity to express what I’ve seen and experienced.

Thank you for proving that you AREN’T the exceptions.

  27. See there you go. I never said ALL WOMEN. Go read what I wrote and try not to let your expectations cause you to see what’s not there.

  28. Immaturity and irresponsibility as defined by whom?

    By women?

It’s always amazed me that many women feel quite comfortable defining what men should be but heaven forfend a man makes any statement at all similar.

I would never try to tell any women how to behave like a woman. I might explain to her how her actions might be taken in ways that would impact negatively on her but she has the right to be who she believes she should be without my stating what she should be.

Note I don’t declare any of what women do to be bad or good. I just point out that feminism is not some off the wall, isolated phenomenon. It’s rooted in most women’s psyche.

  29. Risk taking cannot be compared directly with self inflicted injury.

Risk taking may result in injury and could be considered self inflicted but usually it’s not a sure thing. (with some exceptions and then it could be considered as such)

Females purposely with NO other motivation inflict damage upon themselves. I believe it’s because they either feel conflicted over who they are and what is expected of them and their inner desires. And it may be that they feel that they’re having been born a female is somehow a punishment or a sentence and/or unfair.

This is because most women have an overdeveloped sense of self worth and feel put upon that their gender role within the species is to bear the future generation and all the danger, work and lack of accolade that that entails.

While they believe that somehow men have it better. This sets up the anger/revenge cycle that seems to be apparent in so many females. They resent being female and resent men from being male.

It sets up a dissonance that is destructive if unleashed.

And that’s what the feminists have unleashed.

  30. Interesting how you think you know what motivates any individual woman, let alone all women. Also interesting how you seem to find conviction of the motivations of others within your own personal feelings.

Anybody can have a pathology, but that does not mean that everyone does, nor does it mean that an entire demographic does, nor even a significant percentage.

Matthew 7:5: “You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

  31. Take note of the men who live with mommy and daddy well into their 30s, 40s and beyond.

I don’t think anybody’s denying that there are crazy men out there. Still, it’s probably worth noting that society as a whole is a lot less accepting of grown men who live with their parents than it is of women who believe that the whole of human history consists of a sinister male conspiracy to keep women down. The former are widely derided and seen as pathetic man-children; the latter are given tenured positions in universities and lucrative book deals.

(Also, I’m not sure that a 40-yr-old basement-dweller is crazy in the same way the people profiled by our esteemed host are. Lazy and immature, sure, but that’s not the same as the kind of paranoia and resistance to reality we see in the wackier parts of the feminist movement.)

(Of course, male feminists legitimately are crazy, probably even more so than their female counterparts. At least female feminists get to feel virtuous and put-upon, but who in their right mind would join a movement of crazy people who hate their entire sex?)
