The Alpha Phi sorority at the University of Alabama put together a recruiting video. The apparent object of the video was to promote the idea that Alpha Phi girls are pretty, popular and fun. This is not a controversial political idea, except for feminists who hate pretty, popular girls having fun:
It’s a parade of white girls and blonde hair dye, coordinated clothing, bikinis and daisy dukes, glitter and kisses, bouncing bodies, euphoric hand-holding and hugging, gratuitous booty shots, and matching aviator sunglasses. It’s all so racially and aesthetically homogeneous and forced, so hyper-feminine, so reductive and objectifying, so Stepford Wives: College Edition. It’s all so . . . unempowering.
That column by A.L. Bailey resulted in a statement by the university condemning the video, which Alpha Phi took offline:
A video promoting the University of Alabama’s chapter of a largely white sorority has been taken down after being widely criticized online for its portrayal of women and for its lack of diversity. . . .
A statement from the school’s associate vice president for university relations, Deborah Lane, said that the video “is not reflective of UA’s expectations for student organizations to be responsible digital citizens.”
Dear God, has it gone this far? Has political correctness reached the point that it’s wrong for Alabama sorority girls to be pretty?

Feminism has gotten completely out of hand. You know damned well that if Alabama had a Muslim sorority where all the girls wore burqas, A.L. Bailey wouldn’t say a word. If Alabama had a pagan lesbian sorority, A.L. Bailey would never complain. But pretty white blonde girls having fun in daisy duke shorts? This is “objectifying”! This is not reflective of the university’s expectations: “No more fun of any kind!”

Without even seeing the now-disgraced video, I know that it was a “girls gone wild” sort of thing, wherein the girls are collectively competing with all the other sexualy depraved filth swashing around in our culture in a vain attempt to claim the title “I’m the HOTEST”.
In this case, the feminists are right in the conclusion that they want to reach; they just can’t rationally get to that conclusion because being leftists, they have already rejected the objective morality on which the conclusion depends.
Ultimately, how are *you* any different form the feminists and other leftists? You claim to adhere to and uphold objective morality — and yet, when it comes to the issue of treating women as disposible titilation devices (*), and encouraging them to make of themselves disposible titilation devices, you refuse to follow the logic demanded by objective morality.
Do you not understand that the (false) promise of no-strings-attached consequence-free do-as-thou-wilt sexual activity is always how leftism, in all its forms, begins its appeal? Do you not understand that a person (or a society) cannot have “just a little” perversion in his/its life?

I watched the video and posted it here in the comments a few days ago. It’s not what you perceive it to be.
It’s not “Girls Gone Wild.” It’s a bunch a pretty southern girls trying to get other pretty southern girls to join their club. It’s fairly harmless as these things go.
And note, in the neolithic wayback, I was a graduate instructor at the proverbial “large Midwestern university.” I encountered innumerable fraternity and sorority types and had the distinct pleasure of informing many of them that, “No, you cannot take the test you missed because you attended a mandatory ‘champagne breakfast’ with pledges of ‘I Felta Thi.'”
The point of our host’s post is that the Left wishes to make every human interaction a political statement.

I just watched the video. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Whoever Lane is she is a disgrace and so is the university. People minding their own business and having fun. Your characterization of the video is wrong, so your moral condemnation is naturally off the mark. There is nothing offensive about admiring a pretty girl, nor about a girl wanting to be admirably pretty.

Speaking as a ‘pretty white girl’ who never really thought of herself as pretty… I was brainy and didn’t care about sororities so much. Sure there were girls who liked that sort of thing but to each her own right?
Honestly they could flaunt it all they liked, make videos, date as many men as they so desired. (Hell my husband probably dated girls like that before he met me) But why should I care? That’s a different kind of person. They’re allowed to exist just as much as I am allowed to exist. I don’t understand why this video would offend anyone. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. Wouldn’t you LIKE to know that you don’t fit in with that sorority from the get-go rather than watching some truth-purged inclusive nonsense? Sororities aren’t for EVERYONE and the party girls deserve a place of their own too.

My comment would be, can’t a pretty Alabama girl still be pretty when she’s fully dressed? I have to agree that posting a video might be construed as something a little too close to soft porn for propriety’s sake (I haven’t seen it, but the description sounds a bit off-putting, let’s say) and is not something that young ladies ought to do.
As a Christian, I would also blow a parental gasket if I caught my virginal young daughter wiggling her a$$ in a pair of daisy dukes in a college video, and she’d be going to Eastern Florida State in a thrice, where I could monitor her for inappropriateness and stupidity.
However, having said that, while I don’t personally approve, I also have to say that since there was nothing technical illegal by secular standards in the video, and since lesbian feminists (indeed, all academes) evidently have a “right” to jam Marxist totalitarianism down the throats of impressionable youth, then Alabama girls ought to have a right to shake their a$$es in a pair of daisy dukes.
