It’s 2015 and Everything Is Rape Now

Rutgers University’s Center on Violence Against Women and Children was commissioned by a White House task force to produce a survey about the “climate” of “sexual violence” on campus:

The pilot survey — initially developed by the Justice Department’s Office on Violence Against Women and conducted by Rutgers — generated responses from nearly 11,000 Rutgers University-New Brunswick students. In the report, “sexual violence” has a broad definition that was based on materials developed by the White House Task Force. The definition ranges from remarks about physical appearance to rape and other forms of sexual assault.
The most startling finding in the Rutgers report: Nearly one in four undergraduate women (24 percent) told researchers that they were victims of some form of sexual violence before they ever set foot on campus.

Yes, if the “broad definition” is broad enough, everything is rape.

  1. So in Animal House, when the sorority girl called Belushi a “P-I-G pig”, she was actually perpetrating sexual violence against him, and the resulting food fight can be viewed as a legitimate act of self defense?

  2. If “remarks about physical appearance” constitute sexual violence, then I think we can say that every woman is a serial rapist.

  3. If you don’t “remark” about her physical appearance, but still look as she walks past you in a pair of yoga pants, does that constitute rape?

  4. Nah, though the sorority girl comment was sexual violence, the food fight was not self defense. Rather, in a strange precursor to Sulkowitz’s Mattress Girl, it was performance art, and Bluto got credits for it.

  5. Actually, one could say they are self rapists in that case. “Does my butt look fat in this dress? It does, doesn’t it?” and “Is that a gray hair? Tell me that’s not a gray hair!” are examples.

  6. BWAHAHAHA! Now I want to go to an SJW blog and comment about broad definitions, broad meanings, a broad class of victims, the broad demographic of perpetrators, not concerning rape, but men’s rights advocates.

  7. Just to make sure I’m clear, you’re denying yourself consent, then raping yourself? I hope you’ve agreed upon a safe word with yourself. 😀

  8. Dudes tell me all the time that I have nice hair or a pretty smile, so now I have the rape hotline on speed dial. I’m also considering establishing a Tumblr blog.

  9. I remember the first time I commented on a girl’s appearance. I can still recall the rush of adrenaline! The sense of overwhelming power that I had conquered her!

Then I went down the pub and drank with me mates. I told them what I had done, and they all guffawed evilly, patted me on the back, and bought me beers all night long.

But my conscience could not be silenced. “Was that really me?” I asked myself. Or was it a demon that had slid into my soul and taken the helm of my mind? Just who was it that was in control of my voice when I had oh so casually said, “I like the color of that blouse; it goes well with your skirt”?

Now, years later, I’m still eaten away inside by my decision of that grim and pivotal night. I know that woman is still out there; still damaged and missing a part of her; living without a sense of safety.

I want to confess my sins, but I fear that God won’t have me. So I just drink the nights away… bleary… lost.

Though I walk the streets, by all societal accounts a free man, there is no parole from this mental prison where the bars have been composed of my own actions.

I am a doomed creature. Heaven has raised its drawbridge and lowered its bejeweled portcullis against me.

I belong to the darkness. I will give in to its siren song and embrace the endless Stygian blackness.

Tonight I will roam the streets, on the prowl for some woman to whom I can blithely mutter, “Your hair looks really nice.”

  10. Pretty sure every guy in college could say he was a weekly victim of sexual violence if you include being called a dickhead or the like.

  11. I… I can’t even talk. That time when I was in college and my gal friends helped me make a really realistic costume as a hairy hippy chick who thought that October was a perfect time for a sundress, and then we went out to Denny’s for breakfast at dinner, and the waiter hit on me…

[sob] I’m sorry, I just can’t finish the sentence. Surviving is just so hard.

  13. And while that was happening somewhere a woman was saying “the Patriarchy stole my soul. I am tainted for life. There is no woman-soap that can help. Woe is me. Alas.”

  14. Indeed it is!
Well, until the other SJWs notice that all the evil, wicked patriarchal cat-callers in your viral video are “protected minorities”, who, by definition, can do no wrong.

  15. They’re like smurfs, but instead of everything being smurfy, it’s all rapey.

In a little bit, I’ll rape down to the local Starbucks and rape a latte. While I’m there I’ll rape on my college application. I rape I have a good chance of raping in as I raped the SATs with a near perfect score.

  16. If .7 of a degree of temperature rise over 130 years represents apocalyptic global warming, “Gee, you look like you have lost a few pounds!” obviously represents attempted rape.
It’s easy when you know the ground rules of the team you are up against.

  17. If you get wood, yes. If not, you must be agist or sizist or racist or something. The only sure bet is a disinterested yet engaging expression and a state of perpetual half-mast.

  18. Ooooo…say, let’s have a look at the curriculum offered at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, the “history” of “their” academic publications soundly debunked by peer review, and maybe think about how it is that a pre-determined “studies” outcome is worthy of wealth redistribution toward THAT campus “environment”.

  19. “Broad definition”?
Isn’t that one of those microagression thing-a-ma-jigs?

    *thing-a-ma-jigs ? Oops there I go again!

  20. “Did you see her hair?”
“I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing that outfit.”
“She looks like a tramp in that dress”.

    Yep. You’re right!

  21. The only way to avoid them is quit coming here. So either ya gotta get thicker skin, or….
I know you won’t quit coming though. You like too much.
