“Feminist humor” is one of those terms describing a hypothetical category, like “honest Democrat.” Anyway . . .
Cameron Esposito (born 1981) is an American comedian best known for her stand-up comedy, which often focuses on LGBTQ+ topics and references aspects of her lesbian identity. Originally from Chicago, Esposito now resides in Los Angeles with her fiancee and fellow comedian Rhea Butcher. . . .
Her comedic repertoire consists mainly of repeatedly mentioning that, in case you didn’t get it the first time, she’s a lesbian. It’s as if Jerry Seinfeld had made a career of standing onstage pointing out that he is Jew from New York, rather than actually, y’know, telling jokes. I mean, sure, there are fat comedians who make a lot of fat jokes, and black comedians who make a lot of black jokes, but in general comedy works best when it relates to universal human experience. And speaking of universal human experience, what’s the deal with all these dead babies, huh?
In the midst of the recent Planned Parenthood controversy, Cameron Esposito has some feelings on the matter — some very strong feelings.
The comedian recently took the stage to explain why Planned Parenthood is absolutely vital to everyone, not only women. . . .
“Women deserve access to abortion services. We f**king do because we’re not incubators.” . . .
“If you don’t want to pay for health care for people that live in poverty, then you should help women who live in poverty to not have children that they are not able to provide for,” Esposito says. “That is how you personally will not have to pay that bill.” . . .
“If you are a guy and you are against Planned Parenthood and you sleep with women — I hope to god it is infrequently.”
That’s what you call a “feminist punch line.”
You’re supposed to laughing.
No, really. Dead babies are hilarious. Ask any feminist.
;
I think we got that point from Amanda Marcotte’s comments about “time wasters” (aka babies)
If women don’t want to be regarded as incubators, then they should make sure that they regard themselves as more than vaginas.
Find a new hobby — something that doesn’t focus so much on your crotch.
I have a weird double standard.
As far as I’m concerned, coupling with a single mom when you don’t have kids yet yourself is like accepting pre-cuckoldry.
OTOH, I am primally against baby-killing. I would rather raise your unwanted kids by myself than let you dispose of them.
But maybe that’s just me.
BWAHAHAHA! I love how you always cut to the heart of the matter!
Gee, why would a feral gay third wave feminist fist-bump normal women not having kids?
I had some old man tell me that in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic one time, and my answer was, “you’re going to raise all these children on what? your social security check?” it’s ironic that our neoliberal cheerleaders put corporate profits ahead of people, but then want poor women to put a fetus ahead of her ability to provide for it? Make up your minds, already. And why is abortion such a pressing issue to conservatives? Is life really so
amazing for billions of people on this planet that we just need to force more onto this plane? We’re doing them a favor.
I actually agree with that. If you’re against universal healthcare, and welfare in general then you should be pro abortion since its women who are on welfare that most often have abortions.
Our esteemed host wrote:
This was the problem with Ellen Degeneres, when she came out on her sitcom. The show was pretty good, but after she came out, the show became, “Oh, I’m a lesbian,” and the quality of the comedy fell off.
Miss Degeneres has a fairly popular daytime talk show, and she really is talented. The problems come when the shows are about nothing besides homosexuality.
Mr Freeman wrote:
Why must it be a single mother? The definition of cuckold doesn’t require children, so it would seem that, under your definition, coupling with any woman who isn’t a virgin when you met her is like accepting pre-cuckoldry.
Classic fallacy of the false choice or dilemma. That is, either abortion or paying for someone else’s healthcare. It completely ignores personal responsibility and proceeds from the assumption that children magically appear in a woman’s womb without rhyme, reason or effort on her part or on the part of the man who impregnates her.
You are the one putting economics before life, while at the same time completely dismissing the idea of personal responsibility.
Oh, and bonus points for the line “We’re doing them a favor”. And you wonder where the term “feminazi” comes from.
Zeig Heil, y’all
She’s right. I’m not an incubator. I’m a mommy. And that poor woman is so spiritually impoverished that she can’t tell the difference. I try to get angry about that kind of thing, but it usually just leaves me really sad for their souls.
There is that.
But, in full, coupling with any woman who is not *already* you wife is accepting “pre-cuckoldry”.
“No, really. Dead babies are hilarious. Ask any feminist.”
What’s funnier than dead babies??
Dead baby parts !!!
I’ll be here all week and be sure to tip your waitress.

Blah, blah, blah…personal responsibility. If only life were perfect, and everyone had good jobs, and never made mistakes! In reality, women in bad situations still wind up pregnant and can’t afford to take care of children and the only solution is an abortion.
In reality, women in bad situations still wind up pregnant and can’t
afford to take care of children and the only solution is an abortion.
So, so wrong.
1) Everyone is personally responsible, whether you acknowledge that or not.
2) …wind up pregnant…. Love that passive voice, again avoiding the fact of personal responsibility.
3) …the only solution is abortion.. Holy shit, dude. Holy shit!
You have now beclowned yourself. Congratulations.
I’m an anti feminist, but absolutely pro choice because it’s pragmatic. Yes, “personal responsibility”! The mindless conservative mantra that can supposedly solve all of life’s problems, but in reality doesn’t change the plight of a poor single woman with a child she can’t afford to take care of, and the child’s opportunities in life are severely diminished just by being born in such a situation. Again, he, or she, is better off having never been born.
And bonus points for equating abortion to the gassing, torture, and oppression of millions of live, sentient people.
Chanting “personal responsibility” at women in poor, and desperate situations doesn’t feed their kids, nurture them, etc. Why the hell do you want to force totally unfit women into motherhood in the first place? Again, abortion is the only solution for women in such a situation. It’s ironic that conservatives are totally callous toward refugees or women, and children jumping the border to escape misery and poverty, but want to fight tooth and nail to birth unwanted children.
Sexist, stupid, moralizing junk comment. Might as well have said, “she was asking for it!”
Why the hell do you want to force totally unfit women into motherhood in the first place?
Read that sentence. Who is forcing anyone to engage in sexual behavior? Do you believe that these “poor, unfit women” are incapable of exercising restraint? Do you believe they are not human agents, but rather mere animals acting solely upon biological instinct without any capability of exercising reason?
And if the solution isn’t an abortion, what is? Work three jobs? Go back to school? Find a husband who can provide? Please, enlighten me as to how a single woman with no resources takes adequate care of her child while also bettering her own situation? See, this is why “personal responsibility” is an empty, guilt tripping mantra that changes nothing.
Blah, blah, blah…if only those sluts were celibate, and never had sex then the whole problem of abortion would just disappear! Back in reality, people have sex, and sometimes, for a variety of reasons wind up pregnant with a child they don’t want. the solution to that is forced birth? Really? Grow up. Life is complicated, and crappy, and in the great scheme of things an abortion is not a big deal.
I don’t think you understand her point. There’s no reason to force a birth, or make a woman a mother when she doesn’t want to be one. How is that spiritual impoverishment?
.Again, he, or she, is better off having never been born.
Prove it.
You just keep digging deeper into your pit of self-denial.
I’m sure it’s nice and cozy.
Revealing that you’re the one who doesn’t understand the point…
Better dead than poor, or something. Of course, that disregards the fact that the “poor” in this country is still pretty well off compared to the rest of the world.
You’ve never heard of this thing called adoption?
Please, enlighten me as to how a single woman with no resources takes
adequate care of her child while also bettering her own situation
Perhaps you should ask one of the millions of those who have.
Having grown up poor, I must demure from the stupid sentiment you are critiquing.
On the other hand, I *might* be induced to agree with “better dead than stupid”.
Well, the thing about “gays” (*) is that that is all they have to talk about, so *everything* must be bent to that purpose.
(*) by which I don’t necessarily mean all persons afflicted with same-sex attraction, but rather those who *worship* their SSA, such that they *are* what they choose to do with their [crude-word] and [crude-word]
No, I understand the point perfectly, and see your empty moralizing and faux superiority for what it is.
In other words you can’t answer that question, or more likely the answer you’ve reached is inescapable, grinding poverty, and a neglected child?
So, a woman who doesn’t want a child should be forced to carry, and birth one in order to give it to some other woman?
Says the guy who couldn’t answer a simple question as to how his privileged philosophy of “personal responsibility” is acted upon by a poor woman with child, and no resources. Epic Fail.
Statistically their children wind up disadvantaged, poor, imprisoned, or drug addicted. But “personal responsibility”!
Praise, Jesus! Life’s a miracle!
No sex = no baby. The decision needs to be made BEFORE she gets pregnant.
But. that would entail…
Dun-Dun-Dunnnn…..
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY!
Yes. Yes it is.
Oh, it’s been answered.
You just refuse to see it.
Whatever, Rush Limbaugh. Wow, they might have a cell phone, or TV! It’s a wonderful life! In America you are better off dead than poor.
So, a fetus is not a living, sentient person until it emerges from the womb?
You don’t know what “poor” is, sweetie.
It’s a value judgment.
So, some humans have more “value” than others?
that’s relative to the nation I live in. Do I know what it’s like to be Afghani, or Africa poor? No, but neither do you. Do I know what it’s like to be America poor? Yes, and it’s awful, and demoralizing, cupcake.
Forced servitude of the female population, and grinding poverty, and lack of opportunity for their offspring is better. And when did you grow up poor? Before 1980?
In other words, let’s close the barn door after the horse got out! Derp! In the real world women get pregnant even when they don’t want to. But if only those sluts would keep their legs closed!
“Relative to the nation I live in”.
Why not the block you live on?
“In the real world women get pregnant even when they don’t want to.”
How?
His profound comment flew right over your head. There was no misogyny in his comment, only cold hard facts.
