Feminist Tumblr is about many things, but in general it’s about young women who hate the whole world and everyone in it. Marina is an “intersectional feminist and a human rights advocate” who hates the whole world because everybody is sexist and she recounts the various hassles she must endure before she finally blows up and calls her boss “a sexist a–hole,” which is not her fault:
this is what sexism does – it makes it impossible to win if you’re a girl, or a woman, it makes your entire existance an uphill battle. and truth be told, i am getting so f–king tired. i am 23, a quarter of my life behind me, and i am already tired of educating men twice my age about what is right and appropriate. i am tired of the stares that say i am over-reacting, the replies to calm down, the polite smiles that are meant to knock me down a few pegs. i am tired of explaining to men that sexism is not this one incident, it is my entire life, my every single day. i am 23 and i am so f–king exhausted.
See? She needs to educate us about “what is right and appropriate” because she is 23 and an expert on everything, while the rest of us (especially men twice her age) are clueless idiots.
This is why we cannot simply laugh at feminism’s death-grip on college education. Young women emerge from the protective campus cocoon — where no one is permitted to criticize feminism — and enter a world where most people don’t spend their days worrying about “human rights” and “intersectionality.” In the real world, people have work to do and bills to pay, and the last thing they need is for some young fanatic fresh out of college, hired for an entry-level position, to go crazy in the office because somebody made a joke she didn’t like.
Feminism makes women unemployable.
A paranoid worldview that perceives misogyny and social injustice everywhere renders feminists incapable of functioning in normal life. Because success in the real world requires cooperation and teamwork, a hostile chip-on-your-shoulder attitude is no more conducive to professional success than it is to personal happiness.
One more thing, sweetheart: You misspelled “existence.”
Not for very much longer, if her boss is at all competent. It shouldn’t be hard to document how useless and annoying she is.
It’s possible she might run facefirst into reality and come to her senses. Not the way to bet, though.
I think a GED class might be more her speed.
The faculty who allowed her to pursue a MWS already had jobs in Wimmins Studies, so they thought that hey, it worked for them.
She even looks the part: ugly, and probably fat, too. A perfect MWS candidate.
Actually, since he offered her a promotion, I have to assume that’s she’s reasonably productive in her job. It might be that she’s all sweetness and light at work, and is just using Tumblr as a not-so-private place to vent.
My sister has two kittens who need homes!

Never!
Face first into reality usually means a lifetime of resentment from these ladies.
What she really needs is for someone like our host’s son to sweep her off her feet.
I think it’s the same kind of myopia that makes people think chickens grow on supermarket shelves. She personally hasn’t experienced an invasion or major war, so even the theoretical possibility of one just doesn’t register on her radar.
She sounds like a teenager.
Is one of them Wind-Up, perhaps? (Last song on the Aqualung album.)
“And I asked this God a question, and by way of firm reply, he said / ‘I’m not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays.'”
“Feminism makes women unemployable.”
That’s what worries me and that may be the intent. If Gloria Steinem worked for the CIA and feminism is her product, then perhaps American feminism is a way to weaken women.

Sorry, but I can tell that’s a scam. If there was a way to make money by listening to Jethro Tull all day long, I would’ve found it already.
She actually digs “Slow Marching Band” off of “Broadsword & The Beast.” The one off of “Aqualung” she likes is “Wond’ring Aloud.”
I had a department head once who, when he thought trivia was assuming undue importance, would say “You’re stamping on pissants while elephants are stampeding through the camp!”
It’s not bad, after an initial outlay of time and effort.
You get the two birds assembled the way you want them, insert a compressed spring between them, then wrap them in rubber bands. All you need then is a little tug and they go bouncing away for hours!
Sitting on a park bench…
That one’s my earworm remover. Get a tune stuck in my head and start thinking of Aqualung, and BAM! It’s outta there!
In fact, to progressives everything is zero sum. Nobody has anything that was not taken from somebody else.
Either that, or a box of kittens.
While I don’t disagree that many, if not most, graduate departments in the humanities in this country benefit from the hopes and dreams of their students. (I speak as one who pursued an academic career in literature for a decade before deciding to do something else.) That said, are these people not adults? Do they have no responsibility for their own actions?
In the early ’80s, I was smart enough to see the writing on the wall. I had good grades, test scores, a publication record and recommendations. I was a shoo-in for a decent Ph.D. program in my field. Nonetheless, the prospects for a tenure track position at the time were minimal. In my field, in any given year there were 50-60 freshly minted Ph.D.’s vying for less then five positions or so. Add in that this was the beginning of the end of departmental interest in 14th-18th Century literature in favor of the emphasis on grievance.
The bottom line is that no one is the victim of a con unless s/he herself allows and wants himself/herself to be conned.
“Political lesbianism”
I hadn’t heard that one before. I like it!!
I love this type of person as a manger. So sure of herself and so sure of how the world is supposed to run. Yet, when it comes time to sit down with HR and explain the rules the switch goes from some form of adult into screaming toddler with banshee wail.
“Did you properly report this sexist act as per company policy in XYZ.abc instruction?”
“Well no, but they said this remark.”
“We understand did you tell them to stop as per the policy that you signed and dated here?”
“Not really, but it hurt my feelings.”
“We understand and this investigation is to help determine if retraining is required of the offending party. So one other question is did you talk to your manager as per policy ABC.xyz in the company relations manual?”
“YOU ARE ALL SEXIST PIGS!” which was soon followed up by all the other buzzwords of cultural studies folks.
At which the HR person and myself see what has usually happened is that yes she took an innocent statement out of proportion and will require some training herself as part of the sexism in the workplace training which states the proper way and improper way to report disruptive behavior among workers to management for proper disciplinary actions.
The funnier thing is that this song and dance will be repeated multiple times until she is flagged as a nuisance worker and will be instructed on either the second or third report that this is company policy on how to report problems and that if she continues to be disruptive with her reporting she will face disciplinary actions herself. That usually leads to the whole Linda Blair/Exorcist scene at some times complete with pea soup.
I hope if I’m ever trapped on a desert island I have you with me.
Personally, I’m into pointing and laughing.
I guess if I took them to enough Broadway shows…
Now you’re reminding me of a favorite bit from Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy:
Arthur: “We can talk about normal until the cows come home.”
Ford: “What is normal?”
Trillian: “What is home?”
Zaphod: “What are cows?”
Interesting regarding “Wond’ring Aloud”, given this bit from wikipedia about the album:
Another song, “Wond’ring Again” was recorded in early sessions in 1970 and considered for release on the album before Anderson decided to drop it from the final tracklisting. It was subsequently released on the compilation album, Living in the Past, in 1972. However, elements of the song—essentially its coda—were included on Aqualung as “Wond’ring Aloud”.
And, ummmm… a pair of chickens. Right?
Just call me Professor.
I think those count as ‘violence” these days.
Or maybe she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
Oh hell, I did not mean that. Sorry. Please strike and substitute “suck the chrome off a trailer hitch.”
I think that all of us (well, save the gallant white knight adjunct professor of creative writing from New York College for the Bewildered) already post here pre-denounced.
Okay. Yes.
I just retired from 33 years federal service, uniformed and civilian. There are Toxic EEO Complaint Producers out there. Eventually even EEO figures out that these people are full of it.
However, EEO is paid to investigate EEO complaints. So even if one comes in from those people, the EEO folks roll their eyes and say “We got another one from you-know-who!” and shrug, but then they do the investigation.
Because that’s what they do. Doesn’t matter if it’s BS. Doesn’t matter if they know it’s BS.
Case in point: about fifteen years ago one of our small arms instructors had a complaint filed against him. His offense? He demonstrated how to assemble the cleaning rods for the M14 rifle. He said “You screw the male end of one rod into the female end of another…”
The complaint was dismissed. But he still had to go through the investigation.
Train
Your chickens well.
Their father’s hell
Did slowly gumbo.

Yes HR is required to investigate. At the same time we had a change to the company policy which was an attempt to deal with frivolous harassment by some folks. The changes where specifically to the idea that there is a process, these are the steps you have to report complaints and that people can’t be fired simply because they made you have bad feelings. It needs to be documented. This was pushed by the local fraternal labor organization since the biggest issue was between the administration non union and non salary folks taking offense at terms and phrases the union folks had been using (best argument was over the term dykes for diagonal cutters and that it was hetronormative hate to call a tool by that hateful name.) while doing work near the these administration folks.
So the reporting and corrective action policy was changed to mandated retraining (doesn’t matter if it had been a week since the last there will be a mandatory 8 hours of diversity training by the violated work group) and that there isn’t a limit on harassment, but rather there is a process to report non-diverse thought in the workplace. That it’s just as discriminating for folks to level charges against only one set of individuals (no fear in the workplace) but also when one notes the diversity of the perp it becomes obvious what is going on. That some folks abuse the rules and regulations to create a non diversity filled work environment. So our HR folks talked to EEO and looked at the laws and found the loopholes. So far it has worked in not surpressing EEO complaints but finding lowest levels of conflict resolution by the workers and managers. Which increased our morale and effective output by some measure of success.
the government will hire her
Now you did it, McCain. You called her “sweetheart”.
Sounds to me like she just needs to get laid.
Correct spelling is a tool of the patriarchy.
Every 23 year old (including me at one time) thinks they know everything. That’s why they start as interns, to see if they are willing to learn.
My husband worked as a bartender when he went back to school. He made over $70k a year, so I don’t know what she’s doing wrong.
[…] Lock on the ridicule beam. […]
Or as Eleanor put it “No body can make you feel inferior unless you let them.”
60 effin grand in student loans? WTF did shehe do while in school? Not work one iota?
As your attorney I would advise you to start acquiring cats- immediately.
I go with a flat stare in situations like this.
Sadly the eye rolling tends to get me caught, as I’m not as skilled a suppressing that before it happens.
She’s probably a lost little brainwashed cause. Wonder where her father was in her life…
Anyway, she needs to do two things-
1. Stop taking offense where none is intended and consider things in the context of the other person’s intentions; not her warped re-casting.
2. Do a couple of years volunteering in some third world sh%#-hole, India, the middle-East, West Africa so she can realize that white western women are probably the most privileged group of people on the planet.
Or he knows very well she might go full SJW with false sexual assault/discrimination accusations, and is afraid, very afraid. No one is going to rush to his defense — he’s not a protected class entitled to whine and bitch that life is unfair. He just has to deal with it.
I prefer the ‘… a live chicken through 50 feet of garden hose.’
…everything is problematic..
