Crisis: Justice Scalia Dead at 79

The voice of conservatism on the Supreme Court, Justice Antonin Scalia, died Saturday at age 79. As soon as I heard the news, the scale of the disaster was apparent. On most cases where conservatives prevailed, the majority was 5-4, and to allow President Obama to replace Scalia with a liberal would tilt the court decidedly to the Left. Therefore, this unexpected vacancy in the final year of Obama’s term produces a crisis. The Republican-controlled Senate will almost certainly attempt to block whoever Obama nominates, and this high-profile political battle in Washington will be fought out during a presidential election year. With the nation already teetering on the brink of political revolution — if the Democrats win the election, the GOP may shatter into incoherent fragments, with unknown consequences — the death of Scalia brings into sharp focus the issues confronting America in the 21st century.

  1. A few years back, John MacArthur preached at the National Prayer Breakfast that God has abandoned the US. I’m no MacArthur fan, but I think he nailed it. All the signs of God’s judgment are present in the US.

  2. As one wag said, “I want to be buried in Chicago because I want to be politically active after I die.”

  3. Yes, multi-national corporations funneling millions via Super-Pacs is just what we need! Corporations are people!

  4. As if Hollywood, Silicon Valley, Big Media, and a whole host of companies can’t swing influence elections for democrats?

  5. That would just raise Cruz’s profile like writing his name on the moon. They might as well hand him the Presidency.

  6. Because every election year, the airwaves are flooded by ads from multinational companies to the extent that no one else has a voice at all. (/sarcasm)

You can take your “multi-national corporation” strawman and shove it up your ass.

  7. Just an update: Drudge is reporting Sunday night that Scalia was found WITH A PILLOW OVER HIS HEAD. If the reporting is true, his murder should be seen as the first official death in a “hot” civil war. (Because we are already operating under the pretense of a “cold” civil war.)

  8. Communist black lesbian in a wheelchair with an unfortunate hairlip, who speaks only Spanish, and only in sign language.

  9. Yes, because speech = votes. Maybe leftists get led around by what they see and hear from their masters, but not human beings.

  10. I’d like to think that if he’d really been a politcal assassination, the assassin would’ve been more professional than to leave him in such an obvious murder setup position.

    You know, like Vince Foster?

  11. Time to interview Chief Justice Roberts, hold the pillow talk:

    1. Discuss Roberts’s working relationship with Scalia;
    2. Solicit comments from Roberts regarding Scalia’s integrity and intransigence.
    3. Segue to discussion of Scalia’s obamacare dissent.
    4. Solicit comments from Roberts regarding his unusual obamacare decision, particularly his sudden transition from con to pro.
    5. Alternative media can then start asking perfectly innocent questions about whether Roberts was threatened by… someone lol

Gee, hope it doesn’t rile up the crazies…

  13. Must be able to hallucinate the right of weird sexual perverts to seize guns from conservatives only with the bloody entrails of their artificially inseminated, murdered children hanging from the umbilical cord. Previous experience reading the Constitution a minus.

  14. Yes, except there is a very long list of non-Constitutional actions taken by the president. If no one stands up and says “Stop, you can’t do that (and take the appropriate legal action to stop him), it will happen.

  15. Edit: He could have slept this way, but still, how common is it for people to sleep with a pillow over their head?

People do peculiar things when thrashing around in their sleep. I have one 1st degree relative who used to wrap herself in sheets and blankets up to her hairline and rock her head back and forth.

He’s a 79 year old man who’d been carrying around a great deal of excess weight for at least 30 years. There really is nothing to see here.

  16. Vincent Foster committed suicide. His family and his home town doctor knew well what kind of state he was in and the doctor had prescribed anti-depressants. The matter has been investigated umpteen times starting with the initial inquiry by the U.S. Park Police and including an inquiry by Kenneth Starr’s office.

  17. Funny how some are only interested in seeing conservative speech limited.

Say what you want about conservatives (and I say a lot), most of them don’t want to limit rights to special circumstances.

They’ll also disagree with you up front, instead of pretending friendship so they can betray you later.

  18. Should we talk about the donors on the other side?

We could start with George Soros, who has made it his mission in life to manipulate national events, elections, and international finance. He’s just a secret headquarters from movie supervillian territory.

  19. God blesses those who live in obedience to Him, and for awhile, the majority in this country were doing so.

2 Chronicles 2:14: “…and My people, on whom My name is called, shall be humbled, and shall pray, and shall seek My face, and shall turn back from their evil ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

I would construe the situation described above as “God having our back.”

But now that the majority have rejected Him and indeed, are living in active disobedience, or have fallen into apostasy, we’re going to see a non-stop slide into oblivion in this country. It cannot be stopped because the majority, and likely the vast majority, would rather live in a dystopian hellhole than worship their Creator.

  20. This POTUS will do whatever the hell he wants to do. He dropped the Constitution into his cross-cut shredder a long time ago.

  21. Somebody smarter than me might have an answer to this, but aren’t unattended deaths typically autopsied?

  22. I agree. Won’t keep the conspiracy nuts from going to town, however. Law Enforcement checked out the scene, as they would be required to do, and saw no signs of foul play. The chances of this being anything other than a completely natural death of an elderly man is vanishingly small.

  23. First, there’s a difference between a nation and a “people.”

Second, under your suggestion, does that mean that it is impossible to prosper unless you’re a Christian? That sounds suspiciously like prosperity theology. It wasn’t true even in “Biblical” times.

Third, if it’s possible to prosper and live honorably without being Christian, that doesn’t say much about the “promise” now, does it?

History tends to highlight the good times and gloss over the bad. That’s not religion, that’s humanity.

  24. Yeah, well paid professional killers would leave the pillow they used to smother the judge on his face for everyone to see. The Drudge/Info Wars crowd isn’t too bright.

  25. Know what would really piss off the progs?

Crow about how republicans plan to fill obama’s supreme court vacancy (I prefer John Yoo).

Sucks to get punked like a bitch lol

Whatchu got on my forty, homie?
