Were His Policies A Dog, We Should Shave Its Rump And Train It To Walk Backward

Speaking of ‘back words’, listen to the President try to sound all capitalist and whatnot:
It seems the rhetorical device is to throw out some fuzzy capitalistic bait, and then segue to a sympathy play about how much ‘they’ pick on him. As you read more about how utterly calculated all of this is, you begin to see where this Presidency will, indeed, unite the country.
Unite it against people who “Are not good at getting things done; rather, are good at talking about things as if they had been done,” as a friend once put it.
Dear President Obama,
Verbal shenanigans only work on a credulous audience. The Boy Who Sat In The Oval Office And Cried Wolf did not win the Radical Fable of the Year award. Cut this noise out.Cheers,
Smitty

The Mark Twain character Puddin’head Wilson got his nickname through an incident involving a dog. Wilson was a new lawyer in town, trying to establish a practice with little success. Joining the fellows hanging out on the street outside his office, their conversations were affected by the incessant loud barking of a dog.
Wilson remarked, “I wish I owned half that dog.” The chaps on the walkway asked him why: “Because I would kill my half.” Then he went back into his office.
The men discussed his remarks among themselves. Did he not think, if he killed his half, the other half would not die too? And him a lawyer, too – didn’t he realize the owner of the other half could sue him? So why didn’t he just wish to own the whole dog? They decided he must be a puddin’head, hence the name.
I don’t know what about Obama being compared to a dog reminded me of this old story, but it did.
Ask to the prissy, pissy, petty, petulant, prancing, preening peacock of a vacationing President: maybe if he quit barking . . .

Obama needs to stay on teleprompter. What an odd expression. “They talk to me like a dog”. What do they say: “Come get your food, Rex?” or “How about a walk now, Barack?” On the other hand people from Muslim countries do consider dogs unclean and dirty. No, I’m not saying he’s a Muslim (I think he worships himself) but still it’s just odd. Also, why say, “That’s not part of my prepared remarks”. Why not say, “That’s not what I wrote.” I guess Jon Favreau didn’t write out that line, huh. With the aggressiveness of his tone President Obama sounds like he’s headed for a nervous breakdown-seriously.
Narcissists don’t do well when they are not getting acclaim and positive attention. Lord Christ, please help our country.

Translation: We need to put an Elizabethan collar on this administration so they’ll stop scratching at the economy and let it heal.

I keep going back to a couple of things he said earlier in the clip:
“We did it by investing in the people who built this country…”
Who did this “investing,” and how? It sounds good, but what the hell does it mean?
“Building our economy on a new foundation…”
What’s this new foundation, precisely? How is it different from the old foundation?
Back during the late, lamented campaign, my daughter said this of the Current Resident: “He sounds good, but he doesn’t SAY anything!”

Roy, one of the staples of sci-fi has long been the semantically null political statement. I know Asimov devoted a few words to it in the Foundation series, and unless I’m misremembering, Heinlein alluded to it multiple times but especially in the Lazarus Long stories.
I’m beginning to dislike the idea of living in times that interesting.

Some things come to mind:
1. Dogs, even little, yappy ones, don’t whine as much.
2. If Pres. Obama tied a pork chop around his neck, Democratic office-seekers might appear with him.
3. Since he brought it up, let’s see the President’s AKC papers.
4. At least Bo hasn’t messed up the Oval Office carpet.
5. Dogs can learn new tricks.

@Kojocaro,
‘The Boy Who Cried Wolf’ is a classic fairy tale, and was explicitly linked.
Anyone who wants to rework the post to mean otherwise does so on their own time.
