“Pious Baloney”, indeed. Newt speaks truth to wax figure:Really, Mitt: if there’s one thing that the American people appreciate, it is candor. Barack did a fantastic job of feigning it it ’08. The respect for American authenticity allowed John McCain to drop his war record on a bus for a tour of America and take a hefty, if unsatisfactory, chunk of the vote. Joe the Plumber exposing Obama’s Marxist authenticity might have given us a solid political debate, if not for the mainstream media’s prodigious efforts to support a Commie. But enough dwelling in the past.

Your every measured utterance, Mitt, no matter how polished and focus-group approved, smacks of a guy so inauthentic as to not remember who he was, prior to mapping out the path to the Presidency. Got any hobbies, man? Anything purely creative, and unrelated to politics? Anything? Because your attempt at depicting a blow-dried Cincinnatus are precisely why you can’t push past 25%.

One of his problems is that he’s starting to miss the “measured utterance” beat. In last night’s debate, he sounded increasingly shrill and desperate. His formula isn’t working, and he’s not able to understand why.

He took a big dive in today’s Suffolk poll (which also indicates that Santorum’s Iowa bump is already history), down to 35%.

I suppose that poll could be an outlier, but if not he’s toast. If he can’t knock down 40% in New Hampshire, he can’t win South Carolina or Florida. And if he can’t win South Carolina or Florida, and convincingly so, he’s done.

If Santorum can capitalize with his populist-manufacturing punch, the “electable” Romney will finally go away.

Do we believe the cops or Romney? Did Romney berate two persons authorized to direct traffic? Did Romney engage in an obscenity laced tirade according to a police captain? Did Romney twice drop the f-bomb? Did Romney berate an officer? Was Romney abusive to an officer?

What about all the other stuff in the report? What about the “known associates” per the issue brief?

Jow can Romney or Romney surrogates blame this on the Massachusetts Democratic Party? Did the MA Dem Party plant those cops and make them say what they did?

Obama is a bad man. He’s trying to destroy everything this country stands for in order to see his Utopian dreams realized. He is suffocating us, seeking to deprive all Americans of the air of Liberty.

If Romney berate a police officer, using obscenity, he has a constitutional right to do so, so long as he doesn’t obstruct police operations.

If they were of traffic detail at the time, I don’t see how he could have delivered his tirade without impeding traffic.

And no, we don’t have a “right” to do such things. I’ve told cops to shut up and do his duty and save the lectures for his training courses, but I don’t berate cops. They have no right to lecture or berate me either.

It’s usually not right to do so, but we have a right to do so. It’s not within a state’s legitimate police power to shut us up, and the 1st Amendment positively forbids it.

I think that you would be right about the under-40% in NH if the GOP had a decent candidate running against him. As it stands, where’s the Romney vote going to go?

Well, that’s the thing — I don’t think there’s really any such thing as “the Romney vote.”

A disconcertingly high number of otherwise not especially engaged voters have let themselves be convinced “he’s the only guy who win,” but as soon as they actually start watching him, they start wondering if that’s true, or if he’s worth signing on with even if he can.

Once they’re at that point, they’re available. I don’t think there’s any essential characteristic to the group that means they’ll move in herd fashion to one particular opponent. Some “moderates” will go for Huntsman in New Hampshire. Some social conservatives will go for Santorum or Paul. The “who’s electable?” people will go to Gingrich (or maybe, if they’ve been smoking crack, Perry).

Does Santorum support civil unions? If he does, there’s one phrase that he should repeat every time the MSM ask him about gay marriage:”My position on gay marriage is the same as President Obama’s”. End of discussion. He should then pivot to whatever he wants to discuss: “I’d like to talk about….whatever”. Neuter the MSM with facts.

Mitt most certainly is “inauthentic”.

He is so utterly guarded and overly-scripted that I have no idea what he stands for, other than for being elected.

Because he has chosen to reveal so little about himself, I cannot envision what he will do on an issue-by-issue basis, what he will do in the various crises which would invariably cross his desk, etc.

I find it very disengenuous to run for President without taking any real positions or revealing any core values whatsoever.

He is the proverbial empty suit.

Obama and the MSM will slice and dice him.

The RNC will try to sell us this pig, as it has done too many times in the past, but the GOP will have buyer’s remorse by the time the convenition rolls around.

And I don’t care whether he urinated on a cop’s leg 25 years ago, cursed a mall cop, or launched his boat when the gendarmes told him to trailer it.
