How to Lose Your MSNBC Anchor Gig

Posted on | April 21, 2010 | 13 Comments

Describe Keith Olbermann as “angry”:

A week-long anchoring stint on MSNBC by Donny Deutsch ended abruptly on Wednesday, and four people briefed on the decision said the cancellation stemmed from an unflattering mention of that channel’s No. 1 anchor, Keith Olbermann, a day earlier.
Mr. Deutsch had labeled his hour on MSNBC “America the Angry,” and Mr. Olbermann was shown briefly in a series of clips of media bloviators during a segment that pondered what role the media plays in fomenting the public’s anger.

Via Memeorandum and Allahpundit along with the Mediaite video:

Geez, Donny, you start lumping in Herr Olbermann with minions of greedy racist homophobic Republican evil like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, and what do you expect? Leg-thrills from Chris Matthews? A hand-job from Rachel Maddow?

His voice reaches Mickey Mouse frequency far too often. Maybe that’s got something to do with it.

It’s also a bit dicey if you’re a fool shooting your mouth-off while working for Geico.

Bottom line: You are free to say anything you want. You are also free to reap the consequences of what you say. Geico fires D.C. Douglas? Well then D.C. Douglas should probably have not been as colorful as he was on a voice message to FreedomWorks if he wanted to keep his job with a high profile employer.Sorry but in an age where employers are peeking at your facebook page or twitter or other social sites, it’s just smarter to keep some things under wraps. Dumb Douglas. Dumb Deutsch. Funny Deutsch for slamming Olbie, but career stupid.

Deutsch has always seen opposing viewpoints as being rooted in “anger.” What’s entertaining is that he is wrong about the guys on the right, but correct about Olbermann.

Get Deutsch and Klein on Morning Joe, and you have an “angerfest.”

He deserves it. Get rid of him.

Tell the truth about Olby? What does he expect?

Olby certainly is angry. I will go one further, he’s mad (used in the same sense the English use the word, mad).
