Keep listening. It’s boilerplate for the first five minutes, after which the exchange picks up significantly.

MITT 46% NEWT 32% RICK 13% RON 7%…Good interview with Dana.  You can also see from those numbers why Newt wants Rick to drop out.

I sure can:  because, like Obama, he is unable to accept responsibility for his own failures.  It MUST be someone else’s fault.

Hey, this is Newt Gingrich we are talking about.  Everybody knows him, he’s been a complete bastard for 35 years, thrown out by conservatives for incompetence.  This stuff should only be news to recent immigrants.

Note that Rick didn’t suggest Newt drop out after finishing a poor fourth in Iowa and fifth in New Hampshire, did he?  But Newt wins ONE IN A ROW on two fluke softballs from moderators in successive debates, and suddenly he is to be anointed?

Besides, Newt is already showing signs of his trademark meltdowns and self-destruct modes.  Without a quick win, the guy is going to go to pieces.  How dumb would it be to drop out the week before your rival’s head explodes?

Newton, come here. What’s the matter with you? I think your brain is going soft with all
that comedy you are playing with that young girl. Never tell anyone
outside the Family what you are thinking again. Go on.

In the end, Newt is just another machine politician.  He assumes voters are pegs the candidates can stick where they want, blindly obeying orders on whom to vote for.

Its even worse having to read it from his supporters.  They are convinced that its Santorum who is preventing Newt from overtaking Romney.  Even, when you tell them about the numbers not adding, they don’t care.  They have drunk the kool-aid.

Oh, and Newt’s campaign style is never to blame.

Allahpundit had a post yesterday about Santorum’s polling better against Romney than Gingrich.  His positives are higher and doesn’t turn off the womens’ vote like Newt does.

Malkin has made a good case for Santorum. She lists the negatives, but the positives far out weigh Romney’s negatives. Frankly, if Mittens gets the nod, get ready for another 4 years for the Obamunist. It will be a grim 4 years too.

It’s interesting that Rush gave Santorum a shout-out at the very end of his Tuesday show, remarking that Rick was the only one who had nothing to apologize for in his record of conservatism.

Malkin also just endorsed Santorum on Hannity’s show. It’s one thing to endorse him on her blog, its something else again for a regular and popular guest commentator to endorse him on a show that is watched by millions of people. That could help Santorum quite a bit.
