Dick Cheney Tidbits

The Cheney endorsement of Marco Rubio is heartening. Maybe the former VP can take a few more of the progressive GOP old guard hunting, or something.

Via Alan Colmes, we also have word of an appearance on Dennis Miller’s radio show, where Cheney recalled a famous encounter with Senator Leahy:

A chance meeting with Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (Vt.), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, became an argument about Cheney’s ties to Halliburton Co., an international energy services corporation, and President Bush’s judicial nominees. The exchange ended when Cheney offered some crass advice.

“F*** yourself,” said the man who is a heartbeat from the presidency.

Leahy’s spokesman, David Carle, yesterday confirmed the brief but fierce exchange. “The vice president seemed to be taking personally the criticism that Senator Leahy and others have leveled against Halliburton’s sole-source contracts in Iraq,” Carle said.

As it happens, the exchange occurred on the same day the Senate passed legislation described as the “Defense of Decency Act” by 99 to 1.

The degree to which this event informed the Emannuel-Biden Doctrine is unknown, but here is the Miller clip:
Researchers claim that Cheney’s remark could have been a revelation that he is a reader of [NSFW] The Onion.

If Cheney takes anyone else hunting, he needs to use a bigger load than last time.

    Just to be sure.

I still don’t know why the 2008 McCain campaign didn’t use the slogan somebody came up with:

“Sarah Palin: When she shoots a lawyer, he’ll stay down.”

…also, I tried to come up with a witty “Cheney tidbits” joke, but there are just too many different ways to go and I couldn’t decide.
