‘Due to Her Excellent Reputation Among California Democrats …’

Posted on | March 31, 2012 | 14 Comments

This was what you might call “a clue”:

Kinde Durkee, once a trusted treasurer to dozens of California Democrats, pleaded guilty in the biggest campaign embezzlement case ever to hit U.S. politics.
In a federal court in Sacramento, Durkee admitted to stealing more than $7 million from roughly 50 clients during an 11-year period from Jan. 2000 to Sept. 2011. . . .
Federal officials said Durkee’s motivation was simply “greed.” Durkee used the millions she stole from lawmakers such as Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) to pay for a variety of personal expenses, including mortgage payments, American Express bills, her mother’s retirement home, payroll for her company, even tickets to the Los Angeles Dodgers and Disneyland.
Due to her excellent reputation among California Democrats, Durkee had easy access to as many as 700 campaign bank accounts. When California state election monitors began looking into funds missing from the campaign account of a local politician, Durkee simply moved money from other lawmakers’ campaigns to cover up her theft.
Feinstein and other California Democrats — including Reps. Loretta and Linda Sanchez and Rep. Susan Davis — have sued her for millions in lost campaign donations.

Are we shocked to learn that having an “excellent reputation among California Democrats” is not a recommendation of good character?

Honest people are despised by California Democrats.

Honest people are despised by Democrats everywhere.  Look at the gloating when Clinton beat his perjury rap in the Senate.  Look at Palin.  Look at the demonization of Ocare opponents, right to lifers, etc.

I will grant you that they’re particularly arrogant about it in CA.  Right up there with NY Dems and the RNC.

Wait, wait, wait! I thought “greed” was an illness that ONLY infests republicans. There must be a mistake in this story.

What’s the problem here? She was re-distributing wealth – big deal.

Oh wait, she was re-distributing the wealth away from those who think they’re entitled to do so.  Is that what’s wrong with it?  Instead of suing, they should thank her.  She’s given the Ruling Class a lesson in how it feels when they do it to us.

I suppose it would be bad taste to give her a medal for service to the public…

Strangely enough, not only did no one get suspicious, they recommended her to all their friends.  Only once was she almost caught:  at a huge fundraiser, her French partner, Count de Monet, was moving cash out in a wheelbarrow, which was piled higher than Barbara Boxer’s head, and he bumped into her accidentally and said, “Pardon mois, ma’am” – which unleashed a profane tirade from the Littlest Senator and drew a crowd around.

Naturally, even a few of the Democratic fat cats wondered out loud where the money was going, but were quickly reassured by the fact that Count de Monet’s accent was far more authentic than Ariana Huffington’s.

Kinde could have called Gloria Allred, but instead chose an ambulance chaser from Joel Hyatt’s Legal Clinics and TV Networks, so now she goes to prison.

    “If you’re a creep,
    You can’t go cheap,
Sue ’em ’til they’re all dead,
    Call Gloria Allred!”

    “G . .  . L . . . O . . .”

“Honest people are despised by California Democrats.”
It is NOT just honest people but EVERYONE that does not do the goose-step to the Democrat left agenda. And it is not just here in California but ANYWHERE that Democrats are the overwhelming majority. The problem I think is that there is much more corruption within the California Democrat party. But this one just could not be contained. We in Cali are but showing the rest of the United States a second term by our Dear Leader, President Obama. This should be a wake up call. But, head pounding desk as I type, I fear that there maybe just enough drones to NOT wake up.

Comparing California to a Third-World Banana Republic is insulting to Banana Republics everywhere: City of Los Angeles workers steal gas from pumps; Senator Feinstein sacrifices Central Valley to greenies;Brown wants to rush build-out of eco-damaging bullet train.

In the 2004, Tom Cole (R, OK-4) reported that the GOP’s accountant had looted the accounts set aside for re-election campaigns. In concert with the ‘Not One Penny’ campaign, the GOP had to settle for candidates who self-finance, or who could raise their own funds.

But the GOP doesn’t have a Soros to refill the coffers. The Dems won’t suffer from this.
