Well, that kinda sucks. 51/41 among adults?..and the GOP wonders why conservatives do not support Mitt. As hard as it was to convince the folks to vote for McCain, this is going to be almost impossible.

Adults != likely voters, so I wouldn’t sweat it too much. Conservatives aren’t thrilled about Mitt because of  his lack of conservatism, not his lack of good poll numbers.

Let me get this straight. Obama leads Romney by ten points, because he is the most “likeable”? And this is among “adults”?

Or it could be that adults recognize that both men are dissembling frauds, but Obama leads because he promises he’ll give his followers free stuff and Romney trails because he promises he won’t give his followers what they demand.

Here’s a prediction: Romney will get his turn and like John McCain he’ll lose only by a bigger margin.

In terms of probability, should that tragic even come to pass, I further predict the sun will rise, water will be wet and rocks will roll downhill.

If Romney manages to get past Pensyltucky it will all depend on the VP choice. Sarah almost saved McCain from himself and his staff, and someone is going to be needed to save Mitt.

The polls between Obama and any of the GOP candidates do not mean a lot right now.  Watch the trend as the election progresses.  That is what matters.

After watching the burnt offering her own party made of Sarah Palin, what conservative with any self-respect or survival instinct is going to tie themselves to another shopworn squish served up by the RNC and DC GOP?

  15. daialanye
    April 10th, 2012 @ 11:20 am

I mean someone who is both conservative and a spectacular personality, qualities which Romney so obviously lacks. Someone, in other words, who can set the base on fire.

It’s premature to say, but the only one who looks good to me at present is Allen West. Daniels and his sort will enthuse no-one, while a mouthy RINO like Christie, for instance, will turn off more voters than he inspires.

Let’s face it, Romney has no sparkle, and has managed to win only one election by means of his standard means of spending a hoard of money and backstabbing his opponent. Will that work against Obama, a master of such tactics himself?

  17. richard mcenroe

Why should we waste Alan West trying to give Mitt Romney a pulse, in the hope of putting Mitt Romney in charge of national policy?

The VP candidate almost always gets a boost, even in a failed campaign. West wouldn’t be “wasted” but would have his prospects improved.

Still, I only suggest his type as a possibility, although an officer who’s willing to scare the bejasus out of a prisoner rather than coddle a terrorist is my kind of guy.

    April 10th, 2012 @ 1:31 pm

Yeah, Palin’s political career just took off after being McCain’s running mate.

I’m a West fan  — and I’d rather not see him wasted and trashed.  Besides, I don’t think he and Romney mix well together (and I’m beginning to believe the GOP doesn’t want to win this one anyway…but then again, the Dems don’t seem to be too thrilled with the prospect either; nobody wants to inherit this s**t sundae).

  24. Bob Belvedere
    April 10th, 2012 @ 1:40 pm

To be a rock and not to roll.

  25. daialanye
    April 10th, 2012 @ 1:57 pm

Pathfinder’s wife [below] is being unobservant or forgetful. Palin was almost totally unknown to the voting public before McCain plucked her from nowhere. Despite being very effectively trashed by Dems and RINOs, and mismanaged by McCain’s staff, she is today a major force in national politics.

She has wisely chosen to stay above the fray this time around, but look out for her in 2016.

Only if the VP comes across as a weakling while in office (see Dan Quayle) is the holder of that office diminished.

    April 10th, 2012 @ 4:25 pm

Among “adults,” roughly a third of whom can’t even be bothered to fill out their name and address on a card to register to vote even after years of being harangued to do so, and a sample skewed Democratic by +11, which not even the most rabid Obama supporters believe will be close to the November electorate.

You can win any argument on any subject if you are allowed to define all the terms, of course.
