From fame to shame: NFL cheerleader (left) in her police mug shot (right)

Jeff Gurner at Viral Read reports the disturbing story of the woman who was arrested for making advances on a 12-year-old boy:

Elizabeth Leigh Garner, a former Tennessee Titans cheerleader, was indicted last week on charges of aggravated sexual battery and solicitation of a minor for child rape.
The 42 year-old denies the allegations and told police “that she was drunk that evening and that she got the boy confused with a man that was also at the residence.”
According to the Mufreesboro police report, the boy stated “she was asking him if he had ever been with a woman,” and that Garner then touched him “on the outside of his pants” and made “an attempt to take his shorts off” while offering to “perform oral sex on him.”

Well, if being drunk were a valid defense against criminal charges, there would be a lot fewer people in prison, but given the description of her actions in the police report, does anyone buy this over-the-hill NFL cheerleader’s excuse that she was “confused”?

It is routinely expected that lots of guys reading this will react by saying, “Where were these sexually aggressive NFL cheerleaders back when I was an adolescent fantasizing about them?” We are all reminded of that famous scene in Animal House where the Playboy Bunny comes flying through the kid’s window: “Thank you, God!”

Yet there are reasons why sexual fantasies — lust for things that are abnormal or taboo — are best restricted to the realm of fantasy. Sexual taboos serve a social purpose; the indulgence of what advocates of sexual liberation call “transgressive” behavior inevitably leads to trouble.

The seemingly widespread phenomenon we might call the Mary Kay LeTourneau Syndrome, of middle-aged women seeking to validate their sexual attractiveness by seducing boys, should be viewed as disturbing evidence of cultural decadence. Perhaps some “pro-sex” feminists would defend this trend as evidence of advancing equality, but if so, it is the worst sort of equality, namely a descent into utter degeneracy. (And, to do the feminists’ work for them: If men value women primarily for their sexual attractiveness, isn’t the patriarchy to blame if women feel compelled to seek validation in this perverse manner?)

On the fringes of society, we have seen those who argue that pedophilia should be understood as a valid “sexual orientation,” rather than as a dangerous perversion. We have seen such attitudes apparently embraced even among the elite, as in Judith Levine’s Harmful to Minors, the tip of an academic iceberg of pro-pedophile intellectualism, or in the Columbia University professor’s “consensual adult” incestuous affair.

In a society where the Supreme Court has declared that an “emerging awareness” should govern the legal status of sexual behavior, who can say which way this awareness will further emerge? A constitutional right to donkey sex may seem far-fetched today, but there was a time when the idea of ex-NFL cheerleaders stalking boys with offers of oral sex seemed equally far-fetched. Our society has already slid far down the slippery slope, and who knows when we’ll hit rock bottom?

Is this really a new phenomena? Or has social media simply exposed, that it’s happening at greater frequency then the dinosaur media would bother to report – if they were in the reporting business SNARK. A couple of Hollywood movies come to mind Class 1983 with Jacqueline Bisset. Synopsis. Jonathan, a naive country boy, gets a scholarship to a classy prep school, where he rooms with suave, rich and handsome Skip. Skip decides it is his duty to see that Jonathan loses his virginity, so he sends Jonathan to Chicago, where Jonathan meets Ellen, a beautiful older woman, and they be- gin an affair which ends abruptly when Ellen discovers Jonathan is 17. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085346/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl

See it’s all completely plausible that an older women just can’t tell the legal age of juvenile boys/

I am guessing that was not the case with a 12 year old, but I suppose it is possible.

KJ: Obviously, “sin” is not a new category of human behavior, and it is difficult to determine whether (a) this kind of thing is happening more often nowadays, (b) there is just more reporting of such activity nowadays, or (c) a little bit of both.
Nevertheless, the “cougar” phenomenon is a thing now culturally celebrated, which may tend to serve as a green-light signal to some people seeking rationalizations to justify such taboo behavior.

There is nothing new under the sun as someone reminded us yesterday, but this is a phenomenon (the older women going for young men) that is probably fueled by a sexualized media that fetishes youth. And I wonder if reporting on these cases has actually promoted more of it? Men have always gone for younger women, which makes sense from a biological fecundity basis. Most women are not attracted to teens, but a few are. So there you have it.

Adults ain’t what they used to be, but neither are the kids.

My twelve year old son is 5’7″ and 170+ pounds, and he just turned twelve at the end of February. I suspect that by thirteen he’ll have at least an inch on his old man.

He’s routinely mistaken for being much older.

Wouldn’t excuse her actions, but might make them a little more understandable.

What’s really going to be a major problem now that so many so-called “stalwart conservatives” have caved on the Gay Marriage oxymoron, is that too many gays and gay-marriage-proponents are going to attack conservatives for making any sort of noise about incidents like this (the topic of the post). They will do it out of fear that it will be used to hamper the Gay Marriage movement.

Clearly this woman is mentally ill, or at least “disturbed,” as any pedophile must be. So we will have people defending the actions of the disturbed, not on the grounds that we should have compassion for the insane, but on the grounds that’s it’s perfectly acceptable behavior.

You know this is where we’ll be ten years from now.

Seriously, there comes a time in life when you realize you have to tone it down a skosh. For my part, it was when I realized the porns sites were calling women too young for me “MILF”s….

here is the odd things about this.

One must assume that unless she she was so beautiful that she totally intimidated men around her, a woman such as this would not have a whole lot of trouble locating even moderately good looking men willing to satisfy her desires.

One would think even if she had lost some of her luster the whole “I nailed a NFL cheerleader” meme would be a powerful incentive for a guy’s self esteem.

Given that approaching the kid is even worse.

And can someone explain what a kid is doing in a room with drunk adults?

You know you are getting old when at CPAC you see many beautiful noticeable young women and you instantly think: “Are they the right age for my sons?”

I gotta say, going for 12 year olds gives even perverts a bad name.

Maybe there was a dinner party going on. Kids of 12 do get invited to those. The notion is that the adults wouldn’t drink THAT much.
