With little advance warning, I have decided to hit the road today, bound for New Orleans and the Republican Leadership Conference:

Republicans who can’t wait for an advance preview of the 2016 GOP presidential primary campaign should mark the last weekend in May on their calendars and book their flights for New Orleans, site of the 2014 Republican Leadership Conference. Among the names already announced for the three-day event are Texas. Sen. Ted Cruz, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Utah Sen. Mike Lee, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, Tennesssee Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Florida Rep. Allen West, businessman Donald Trump and Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

Tonight I’ll be in Atlanta and tomorrow will traverse Alabama and Mississippi.

The Apostles of Equality and Progress, who have done everything in their power to destroy whatever vestiges of courtesy, decency, loyalty and honor remained in American society, now presume to disavow the Age of Hatred and Violence they have unleashed upon us. What Burke called the “barbarous philosophy” of the French Revolution — whereby “a king is but a man, a queen is but a woman; a woman is but an animal, and an animal not of the highest order” — has prevailed as he foretold, and the horrifying consequences are everywhere.

Lesbian feminist Lisa Needham believes all men are Elliot Rodger:

[T]his might be mental illness, but it is an illness that is not unfamiliar to women who routinely and disproportionately are the victims of harassment, neglect, violence, and death at the hands of men. Rodger’s actions were an extreme manifestation of a cultural view that is not actually uncommon: that women “owe” men attention, that women who don’t put out are bitches, that women who do put out — for other guys, of course — are sluts, and all these women get what they “deserve” — violence from men.

Right. Women are victims “routinely” of “a cultural view that is not actually uncommon,” and a psycho creep who kills six people is just an “extreme manifestation” of this “not unfamiliar” illness.

The chivalry that once inspired “manly sentiment” died long ago, and customary deference has been replaced by raw Power, the only currency recognized in the Age of Hatred and Violence.

Yet the hashtag #YesAllWomen is trending, one liberal describing it as “meant to open eyes to the real problems with the injustice in society . . . instigate change, and open up the eyes of both women and men; women in a show of solidarity . . . men to make a strong statement that these are not isolated incidents we see on the news, but rather, ongoing problems that, if left unchecked, will ultimately lead to a much bleaker future.” Not a word (and probably not a thought) from liberals that maybe how we got into this godawful bloody mess is because fools trying to “instigate change” didn’t bother to think through their radical syllogism to its deadly conclusion.

Los Angeles Times headline: #YesAllWomen: Isla Vista attack puts a spotlight on gender violence — and never mind the fact that four of the six people Elliot Rodger killed in his murder rampage were men: Christopher Ross Michaels-Martinez, 20, Cheng Yuan Hong, 20, George Chen, 19, and Weihan Wang, 20. If the facts don’t fit the liberal narrative, liberals will just ignore the facts, and will bristle with indignation if you dare to point out the cognitive dissonance.

“You have to hand it to the liberals: they never miss an opportunity to convert tragedy into political gain,” and who can disagree?

Ginning up hatred is always “political gain” for liberals, and this is what the hashtag #YesAllWomen is about: Convincing women that men are their enemy. The standard Tweet format is for a woman to say that A Terrrible Thing happened to her because of a man (or men in general) and #YesAllWomen — a slogan framed as a reply to “Not All Men,” which is a feminist pet peeve: Whenever they complain about men in general, someone is always certain to point out that the generalization is unfair:

NAMALT – internet (feminist) shorthand for ‘Not All Men Are Like That’. . . .
NAMALTs usually happen within the context of explaining how widespread a problem is with males; male supremacy; or male violence. If too many women are agreeing that this is indeed a widespread problem with males in general, then one or more NAMALTers rush in, and, well, just NAMALT.
Once the NAMALTing starts, it becomes a tsunami of NALMATing, NIGELs and UNICORNs.
NIGEL is feminist internet shorthand for NIcest Guy who Ever Lived. And Unicorns . . . are apparently these very special pro-feminist men that are shoved at radfems, who are understandably skeptical that such pure creatures exist.

Radical feminists do not hesitate to include all men in their condemnations of the “patriarchy,” and NAMALTing is not allowed:

The phenomenon of NAMALTing is also the phenomenon of stating NAFALT (Not All Feminists Are Like That), ie, not being one of those nasty manhater types of feminists. Yeah sure, we get it. Your ‘feminist’ politics are ‘man friendly’. They are also bullshit. Feminism is the only political movement that prioritises women’s rights and needs above the mainstream (ie male domination). If you cannot do that, then don’t call yourself a feminist.

In other words: No Feminist Can Ever Say Anything Nice About Men.

Understood in this context, #YesAllWomen is a chip on the shoulder, daring anyone to claim not all men are responsible for violence against women — to frame rape and abuse as a collective victimization of women for which men are collectively to blame.

The Apostles of Equality and Progress have brought us here, and the logic of their “barbarous philosophy” leads in exactly one direction — toward anarchy and oblivion. The Age of Hatred and Violence has merely begun, and it ill behooves those who have delivered us into utmost savagery to disavow the handiwork of their labors.

Alyssa Funke, R.I.P.

She was a straight-A student and then she decided it would be smart to get an F on camera, so to speak:

A 19-year-old college student committed suicide just two weeks after making her first pornographic video.
Alyssa Funke, who starred in her first porn film earlier his year for a website called CastingCouch-X, used a shotgun to kill herself on April 16.
The teen, who adopted the stage name “Stella Ann,” was a straight-A student at the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. She told the pornographers, “I want to be a major in biology, minor in chemistry, and I want to be an anesthesiologist.”
It is widely thought she killed herself after former classmates at her high school in Stillwater, Minnesota, taunted her through Twitter and Facebook. Police say their investigation, which is still ongoing, has not yet found any criminal harassment.
Funke’s parents say that she suffered from periodic depression. Local media report that the young lady’s father has a record for swindling and theft, and her mother dealt drugs with a boyfriend. Funke’s mother also neglected the family’s younger siblings. Eventually, Funke moved in with her grandmother as a young teenager, though she still struggled with money.
Former pornstars told LifeSiteNews that troubled childhoods and deep depression — before or after a shoot — is not out of the ordinary in that industry.
Madyson Marquette, whose porn film name was Fayth Deluca, told LifeSiteNews that “after shooting porn, it seemed as if all the girls were depressed, including myself. We would shoot a scene and immediately after we would go do something to where we wouldn’t have to think about what we had just done, whether that was getting so drunk we just blacked out, some type of drug like Xanax, cocaine, or ecstasy.”

The mainstream media are taking the angle that Alyssa was a victim of “cyberbullying,” rather than a victim of the porn industry, but hello? It’s 2014 and it’s time for people to wake the hell up: If you do porn, it’s going to be on the Internet, and if it’s on the Internet, everybody’s going to see it. There is no way you can have a “secret” porn career in the Internet age, so if you’re going to do porn, just get used to the idea that your high school friends (and your high school enemies) are going to find out about it. Your parents, your teachers, your brothers and sisters, your aunts and uncles, grandma and grandpa — everybody you know is going to see what you do, got it?

If that doesn’t bother you, OK. But if you don’t think you can handle the reaction, maybe you shouldn’t be doing porn.

Of course, America’s Feminist Teen Porn Princess, Miriam Weeks (a/k/a “Belle Knox”) disavows any responsibility:

I have read the criticism that because I have said I feel “empowered” by porn that I am somehow encouraging other young women to go down this same path. Absolutely not. . . .
I do not think pornography caused your death. But I think society’s reaction to pornography did.
It’s time that we end slut shaming and treat sex workers with respect and tolerance. How many more people need to die before we realize that the hatred needs to end?

Right. Let’s blame “society” and give us a Women’s Studies lecture about the need to have “respect and tolerance” for whores. But you cannot wish away the shame of what is, objectively, shameful. And feminist lectures can’t raise a dead girl from the grave.

It is apparently very important to some people that the blame for Elliot Rodger’s crimes be generalized so that the murders in Isla Vista are not the sole responsibility of the Creepy Little Weirdo who perpetrated them, but rather are fitted seamlessly into the “War on Women” narrative that helped Obama win re-election in 2012.

Having stayed awake until 4 a.m. reading Elliot Rodger’s bizarre 141-page “manifesto,” however, I recognize his collectivist worldview, his envious obsession with “fairness” and especially his narcissistic sense of entitlement as typical of left-wing Millennials.

Yet there was nothing genuinely political — neither liberal nor conservative, neither Republican nor Democrat — about his twisted hatred: Crazy is not a political philosophy.

Nor can the NRA be blamed, as Andy at AOSHQ explains:

Of course one of the 7 was the assailant himself, and 3 of the 7 were stabbed, not shot. But other than that, it’s a faithful representation of what happened.

Like always, the left would love to tell you that passing one more perfect law would solve this, but they can’t because of that damned NRA. Out in the real world, it’s hard to see how anything they openly claim to want would’ve made a difference here. Of course, what they really want is a complete gun ban but they don’t have the balls to say it.

Leaving aside the predictable anti-gun rhetoric, however, let’s focus on the claim that Elliot Rodger was influenced by the “Men’s Rights Movement” or “pickup artists” (PUAs) or “misogyny” and ergo — to make the logical leap that the Left would have you make — we must embrace feminism, vote Democrat and fight the patriarchy.

This is a non sequitur: “Men’s Rights,” a movement chiefly concerned with the misfortunes suffered by men in divorce battles, is not a partisan cause; certainly the womanizing ways of “pickup artists” are contrary to the social conservatism of the Religious Right; and it is an extreme stretch to say that Elliot Rodger’s profoundly personal resentment of women can be generalized as a focus of feminist politics. The Creepy Little Weirdo was a minority of one, and if there are others like him out there . . . well, lock ’em up in the loony bin before it’s too late, I say.

Donald Douglas at American Power continues pushing back against the feminist narrative of Elliot Rodger’s crime, but what is fascinating is how the Creepy Little Weirdo’s rant mirrors and mimics feminism’s critique of heteronormative patriarchy. “Feminism’s War Against Nature,” as I have described it, shares Rodger’s hostility toward the normal patterns of female sexual behavior, e.g., the way in which women seek to make themselves “sex objects,” to attract the interest of traditionally masculine men — tall, muscular, assertive — whose high social status is largely a function of their successful dominant qualities.

 

Like so many radical feminists — Mary Daly, Andrea Dworkin, Dee Graham, Janice Raymond, et al. — Elliot Rodger was ill-suited to participate in that competition and, as a disgruntled spectator, he resented the winners in the Game of Love. He was short, skinny and socially awkward, and he hated romantically successful men just as much as he hated the women who rejected him. His attitude was very much like the fat, ugly and/or un-feminine women whose jargon-laden intellectual critiques of “patriarchy” are transparently a sour-grapes rationalization of their own unfortunate circumstances.

Here’s a clue: Go read the Creepy Little Weirdo’s “manifesto” and see if you find even one mention of feminism. (Hint: It’s not there.)

Whatever anyone may say of Elliot Rodger’s “misogyny,” he never articulated any opposition to feminism, per se. True, he viewed women strictly as sex objects, but in 141 pages of his rant, he never criticizes any feminist policy, never name-checks any feminist author, never manifests any awareness of feminist theory. Abortion rights? The “pay gap”? Nope, he never said a word about any of that.

What we do find in the Creepy Little Weirdo’s rant, however, is a phenomenon common among feminists, i.e., he’s crazy as hell. But don’t take my word for it. Page 128 of his “manifesto”:

To my extreme rage, I discovered that my sister now had a boyfriend, and that she had lost her virginity. She had casually “dated” boys in the past, but never to the serious extent that she did with this one. . . . He seemed like the typical obnoxious slob that most young girls are sexually attracted to. . . .
I eventually grew to hate him after I heard him having sex with my sister. I arrived at the house one day, my mother being at work, and heard the sounds of Samuel plunging his penis into my sister’s vagina through her closed room door, along with my sister’s moans. I stood there and listened to it all. . . . It reminded me of how pathetic I was, that at the age of twenty-two, I was still a virgin.

Creeptastic!

In a way, it’s too bad Elliot Rodger never paid attention to feminists. They had so much in common: “PIV is always rape, OK?”

Portrait of a Killer: Elliot Rodger Claimed in Video to Be ‘Supreme Gentleman’

Background information about the Santa Barbara shooter is beginning to emerge, tending to confirm what I said about Elliot Rodger when his YouTube rant was nearly all we knew about his motives:

This attitude is a typical “Nice Guy” rationalization by which losers project onto others the responsibility for their own failures, so that successful men are scapegoated as “obnoxious brutes” and women who reject the Nice Guy are condemned as “sluts.”
At the root of the “Nice Guy” rationalization is a narcissistic blindness to his own shortcomings and a sense of entitlement to female companionship. He cannot admit (especially to himself) that his own resentments are actually motivated by envy, nor that his rage against women is a type of “sour grapes” rationalization: Frustrated desire expressed as rejection of those who reject him.

Rodger was short, non-athletic and socially awkward, and this kind of “Nice Guy” rationalization is what goes on inside the minds of losers who can neither accept their limitations nor overcome them. The Los Angeles Times has the full transcript of his video rant:

“Hi, Elliot Rodger here. Well, this is my last video. It all has to come to this. Tomorrow is the day of retribution, the day I will have my revenge against humanity, against all of you.
“For the last eight years of my life, since I hit puberty, I’ve been forced to endure an existence of loneliness, rejection and unfulfilled desires, all because girls have never been attracted to me. Girls gave their affection and sex and love to other men, never to me.
“I’m 22 years old and still a virgin, never even kissed a girl. And through college, 2 1/2 years, more than that actually, I’m still a virgin. It has been very torturous.
“College is the time when everyone experiences those things such as sex and fun and pleasure. In those years I’ve had to rot in loneliness, it’s not fair.
“You girls have never been attracted to me. I don’t know why you girls aren’t attracted to me but I will punish you all for it. “Humanity is a disgusting, wretched, depraved species. If I had it in my power I would stop at nothing to reduce every single one of you to mountains of skulls and rivers of blood and rightfully so. You deserve to be annihilated and I will give that to you. You never showed me any mercy so I will show you none. [laughs]
“You forced me to suffer all my life, now I will make you all suffer. I waited a long time for this. I’ll give you exactly what you deserve, all of you. All you girls who rejected me, looked down upon me, you know, treated me like scum while you gave yourselves to other men. See? Dude had no game, but that can’t be his fault. No, it’s the girls he wanted — the blonde sluts who rejected him — who are to blame.

He was diagnosed at an earlier age with Asperger’s Syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism meaning he had difficulties with social interaction.
Rodger was living with roommates at the Independent Living Institute in Santa Barbara, a facility that offers ‘living skills instruction to help adults with disabilities to live more independently in their communities,’ according to the website. . . .
A good-looking boy, it is impossible to say what caused Rodger’s problem with women, but apart from his parents’ divorce, there are no clues in his background as to the deeply troubled loner he would become.
He was born in August 1991 in Lambeth, South London, the scion of a family steeped in photography and the cinema.
His Malaysian-born mother Li Chin, now 53, and film director father Peter, 49, moved to America’s West Coast when Elliot was five and his younger sister Georgia only a baby. . . .
Speaking from her home in Kent, Elliot’s grandmother, 89, explained that he had suffered mental health issues for some time.
She said: ‘He was a very disturbed boy. He lived in California but of course I’d known him. This is just one of those very tragic things. I don’t want to talk about it any more. This is a rather difficult time.’ . . .
Yesterday, a family friend told The Mail on Sunday that Peter and Li Chin divorced soon after moving to the US and Peter later married Soumaya Akaaboune, a French actress of Moroccan-French descent who appeared in Hollywood blockbuster Green Zone. . . .
[Elliot] recalled in one Facebook posting ‘being the smallest kid in the class’ when he was photographed at Topanga Elementary School near his home, aged seven, in 1998.

Asperger’s Syndrome — thanks to science, we now have a diagnosis, so parents don’t blame themselves for their kid being a total dork. But this is small comfort when the creepy little weirdo kills six people:

A California gunman who went on a rampage near a Santa Barbara university stabbed three people to death at his apartment before shooting to death three more in a terrorizing crime spree through a neighborhood, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
The three people in the apartment were among the six left dead Friday night during the shootings near the campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara. Elliot Rodger, 22, the suspected gunman, apparently killed himself, authorities said. . . .
Earlier Saturday, Alan Shifman — a lawyer who represents Peter Rodger, one of the assistant directors on “The Hunger Games” — issued a statement saying his client believes his son, Elliot Rodger, was the shooter. It was unclear how the son would have obtained a gun. The family is staunchly against guns, he added. . . .
Attorney Shifman said the Rodger family called police several weeks ago after being alarmed by YouTube videos “regarding suicide and the killing of people” that Elliot Rodger had been posting.
Police interviewed Elliot Rodger and found him to be a “perfectly polite, kind and wonderful human,” but noted that he had few friends and no girlfriend, he added.

So the family is “staunchly against guns,” and they called the police because they were worried about their creepy little weirdo son, but the police found the future mass murderer to be “perfectly polite” — the supreme gentleman, you might say.

Because no one can be blamed — not the parents, not the cops, and certainly not the shooter, who was a victim of Asperger’s Syndrome — some people go hunting for political scapegoats and (surprise) find what they’re looking for: Elliot Rodger was a racist because he wrote some stuff on an Internet forum complaining that he saw a black guy with four “hot white girls.” Never mind, of course, that Rodger was himself of mixed ancestry, and also never mind the real object of his murderous rage: “It’s been my life struggle to get a beautiful, white girl.” And, hey, let’s blame the NRA while we’re at it.

Meanwhile, we now have the Mass Murderer’s Manifesto — a 141-page autobiography — because what’s the point of being a mass murderer unless you’ve got a manifesto about how the innocent people you killed really deserved to die because of how unfair your life was?

UPDATE: Just spent about an hour of my life I’ll never get back reading the first 60 pages of the creepy little weirdo’s manifesto. He was very aware — in his conscious, rational mind — of his shortcomings, and understood that his resentments resulted from envy. But this rational awareness did not lead to any kind of effective coping strategy, nor did it quell the intensity of his emotions. He felt horribly humiliated by girls; his sense of being doomed to rejection made him fearful of social interaction with girls. Also, he was unusually obsessed with social status. When his father’s directing career took a downturn, his mother’s child-support was reduced, and she had to move into a less-affluent neighborhood. The boy was so embarrassed  by this that he stopped inviting friends to visit. Meanwhile, he disappeared into World of Warcraft — becoming that 21st-century cliché, the videogamer with zero social life.

UPDATE II: From Page 67 of the “Manifesto,” when the creepy little weirdo was 18 and had dropped out of college:

I continued searching for a job, but I still wasn’t able to find one. . . . The problem was that most of the jobs that were available to me at the time were jobs I considered to be beneath me. My mother wanted me to get a simple retail job, and the thought of myself doing that was mortifying. It would be completely against my character. I am an intellectual who is destined for greatness. I would never perform a low-class service job.

Oh, what a Special Snowflake — he was “destined for greatness”!
