‘Kafkatrapping’ and the Left’s Mental Assault Against America’s Future

How would you know you were being indoctrinated if you didn’t actually know any facts to contradict the indoctrination? And if liberalism were pervasive throughout popular culture — in the news media, in the entertainment industry, etc. — where could a young person possibly get the kind of education that would prepare him to resist the intellectual violence university professors perpetrate against their students?

A professor at Michigan State University (MSU) opened the first day of his creative writing class on Thursday by bashing Mitt and Ann Romney and ranting against “old Republicans” who he says “raped” the country, according to a student who made a secret recording of the class.
The eight-minute secretly recorded video also reveals Prof. William S. Penn bullying a student who apparently disagreed with his Democratic politics and arguing that Republicans want to prevent “black people” from voting. . . .
“This country still is full of closet racists,” he said. “What do you think is going on in South Carolina and North Carolina. Voter suppression. Its about getting black people not to vote. Why? Because black people tend to vote Democratic.”
“Why would would Republicans want to do it?” he asked. “Because Republicans are not a majority in this country anymore. They are a bunch of dead white people. Or dying white people.”

You can read the whole thing by Josiah Ryan and Caleb Bonham at Campus Reform. This kind of ideological bullying is not rare, but altogether commonplace, in America’s classrooms.

This only became news because Professor Penn’s psychological brutality was so clumsy and was caught on video. And most students never even notice the indoctrination in college because they have already been indoctrinated through 13 years of public schools. (Fact: Communist Howard Zinn is on the reading list of many high school advanced history classes, as are other radical authors.)

Because this deliberate brainwashing has been going on for decades, very few conservatives are employed as educators. This is not simply a matter a discrimination — although conservatives are deliberately and openly discriminated against, especially in graduate departments in the humanities and social sciences — but also a result of the self-replicating nature of any ideology that gains intellectual hegemony within academia. If an educated person is someone who attends school, and if all schools teach liberalism, within a generation there will be no person who is both “educated” (i.e., holding advanced credentials) and conservative.

Quod erat demonstrandum.

The shift in American educational philosophy — away from the teaching of facts toward the teaching of ideology — was evident as early as 1951, when William F. Buckley published God and Man at Yale. After the radical takeover of campuses in the 1960s, however, this shift became a landslide and, with a few notable exceptions, all American universities are now dominated by radical ideologues.

Remember that the bizarre pornographic perversion of “male feminist” Hugo Schwyzer was not merely a personality problem, but was actually part of the curriculum, and not at some elite school, but at Pasadena City College. Schwyzer had a Ph.D. in science, but was teaching “gender theory” and pornography-as-art with the full knowledge of the administration. And we must presume the faculty that hired Schwyzer chose him over many other qualified candidates (the supply of history Ph.D.’s is vastly greater than the demand for history professors) precisely because of his radicalism.

Because such radicalism is now so common as to be nearly universal in academia, leftist ideology is now taught to future elementary and high school teachers, so that it suffuses downward and students arrive at college either already fully indoctrinated with radical beliefs, or predisposed to accept such beliefs.

It is therefore remarkable that any of Professor Penn’s students even disagreed with his partisan monology. His accusatory diatribe resembles what has been called a “kafkatrap”:

One very notable pathology is a form of argument that, reduced to essence, runs like this: “Your refusal to acknowledge that you are guilty of {sin,racism,sexism, homophobia,oppression…} confirms that you are guilty of {sin,racism,sexism, homophobia,oppression…}.” . . .
Real crimes – actual transgressions against flesh-and-blood individuals – are generally not specified. The aim of the kafkatrap is to produce a kind of free-floating guilt in the subject, a conviction of sinfulness that can be manipulated by the operator to make the subject say and do things that are convenient to the operator’s personal, political, or religious goals. Ideally, the subject will then internalize these demands, and then become complicit in the kafkatrapping of others.

Well, he’s a Democrat, and I would have called Terry McAuliffe a “lying scumbag Democrat,” but that would be kinda redundant. Anyway, the latest polls show the lying scumbag is actually leading the race for governor of Virginia, and maybe everybody’s too distracted by the lying scumbag Democrat in the White House — “Red line? What red line?” — to pay attention to Terry McAuliffe’s scummy lies:

The tagline of that ad — “You can’t trust Terry McAuliffe” — has become a campaign theme for Republicans, repeated in speeches by Cuccinelli as well as his surrogates. Stumping for Cuccinelli in southwest Virginia, where Democrat-backed environmental regulations are a major threat to the coal industry, Del. Israel O’Quinn (R-Bristol) said Tuesday, “Terry McAuliffe cannot be trusted. He said four years ago he didn’t want another coal plant built in Virginia so I’ll take him at his word.”

Longtime readers know the story: In 2009, after Alyssa Milano re-Tweeted a column by Mickey Kaus, I determined to get mine, too:

It took 11 months (and the constant incitement of friends), but finally in September 2010, came the Tweet Heard ‘Round the World:


See? Politics isn’t everything. And yet this morning, when it was announced Alyssa Milano was scheduled to appear on “Fox & Friends,” some of her liberal fans were less than . . . bipartisan:

Why do people have to be like that? I’m glad conservatives aren’t intolerant like that. Yes, Alyssa Milano is a liberal, but she’s just a regular liberal, not a shrill Bill Maher/Janeane Garofalo obnoxious partisan Hollywood hatemonger. She’s not Sean Penn or Michael Moore or some other America-hating commie.

And did I mention she RT’d me? With 2.5 million followers?

Also, she’s better-looking than Michael Moore. A uniter, not a divider.

This is amusing in several ways. I’m kind of notorious as the conservative guy who Watches MSNBC, So You Don’t Have To™  and lately, MSNBC has been the pro-war channel — “We must bomb Syria! #Syria: ‘Just Thinking Out Loud’

John Kerry’s testimony today about Syria was tremendously encouraging — to the Assad regime, and to America-haters everywhere, who are certainly exultant that this idiot is now Secretary of State.

The very fact that John Kerry thinks this policy is a good idea is pretty much an ironclad guarantee that it will be a complete disaster.

“Bipartisan compromise” — another guarantee of failure.

Anyway, I had the TV on MSNBC all day, and it’s weird how these erstwhile pacifists are now raving like the neocon warhawks they warned us against. Their bellicose rhetoric was shocking — Rachel Maddow sounded like a bloodthirsty killer — and quite strange.

UPDATE: John Sexton has also noticed the weirdness at “MSNBC: The Place for War,” and Ed Driscoll has further thoughts on the hopeless failure of Democrat “smart diplomacy” foreign policy.

UPDATE II: Quite literally, I laughed out loud:

Kerry: Obama will not puts boots on the ground,
unless this mission fails, which it is expressly
designed to do, and what are the odds of that?

It would be a lot funnier, if it wasn’t so damned true.

Deranged Cyberstalker Bill Schmalfeldt and His Massive Mountain of Failure

When last we took notice of deranged cyberstalker Bill Schmalfeldt, Ken White at Popehat was examining the foul, offensive and, some might say, dangerously violent content of Schmalfeldt’s demented gibberish.

Gosh, it’s been nearly a month, hasn’t it?

Bill got so crazy at one point, there was concern he might need to take the short ride to Spring Grove with the nice men in white coats.

“What’s up with that weirdo?” people have occasionally asked.

Bill Schmalfeldt inserted himself into the Brett Kimberlin story on June 3, 2012, when Schmalfeldt started stalking Aaron Walker. Schmalfeldt subsequently extended his target list to include various persons who had defended Walker, particularly including Lee Stranahan, who listed several of the things Schmalfeldt did to him:

  • Made repeated, direct contact with me and members of my family via email & Twitter, demanding I answer his questions about his ‘investigation’ in me and my family
  • Continued this direct contact after being asked not to ; sometimes directed over 100 messages a day directly at us with questions for his ‘investigation’
  • Posted our personal information, including making a video of our address after a rape threat had been made by an associate of Mr. Schmalfeldt’s
  • Made constant sexual references about both my wife and I, including frequent mentions of our genitalia and fantasies about selling my wife and raping me
  • Tormented us about the death of our newborn daughter Collette
  • Posted photos of our children and contacted child protective services
  • Contacted over half a dozen law enforcement agencies when I wouldn’t answer the bizarre personal questions he would ask for his ‘investigations’
  • Attempted to get me fired, arrested & have my children taken from me
  • Contacted friends, family, business associates and even total strangers who spoke to me online

Therefore, Stranahan flew to Maryland and filed harassment charges against Schmalfeldt. The charges were, believe it or not, later dismissed. Beecause John Hoge had assisted Stranahan (by giving him a ride from the airport to the courthouse), however, Bill Schmalfeldt then turned his insane fury on Hoge. This continued until, on June 14, John Hoge won a peace order against Schmalfeldt, thus depriving Bill of his only joy in life, deranged cyberstalking.

Permit a brief digression: Bill Schmalfeldt cannot seem to distinguish between the First Amendment (your right to speak or write) and the Fifth Amendment (your right to remain silent). Deeming himself a journalist conducting an “investigation,” Schmalfeldt’s modus operandi was to make defamatory accusations in the form of questions — “Did you do heinous acts X, Y or Z?” — and then demand answers, claiming that his targets’ refusal to play along proved they were in fact guilty of X, Y and Z, insulting the person he claimed to be “investigating,” calling them cowards, etc., for not answering him. As I explained in April, “Harassment Is Not Journalism,” but I digress . . .

After Hoge won the peace order that forbade Schmalfeldt from contacting Hoge at all — not so much as a Twitter mention — Schmalfeldt’s mood seemed to oscillate wildly, alternating between depression and rage. John Hoge recounts a recent episode:

Bill Schmalfeldt seems to think that he is entitled to answers to questions that are really none of his business, and he gets all butthurt when we mere mortals don’t quickly tell him what he wants to hear.
The Cabin Boy has screwed up his pro se filings related to his appeal of the Hoge v. Schmalfeldt peace order. When this was pointed out by my lawyer in the Motion to Dismiss filed in reply to his motion for a stay, he accused her of lying in that motion. Now, he wants me to explain the whys and wherefores of the legal strategy to be employed to protect my interests against him.
No. I won’t do that. He will find that out in front of a judge, not on the Internet. Neither my counsel nor I have any obligation to help him continue to harass me. He can always ask Acme’s Legal Department for their advice.
Bill Schmalfeldt is, in my view, a criminal. He has been adjudicated a harasser, and I believe he has violated and continues to violate the peace order issued against him. That is a crime.
I don’t intend to help him. I do intend to make it through to the end of this process with my good humor intact.

Do I even need to explain this? Can’t everyone see how bizarre and persistent Bill Schmalfeldt’s obsessions are? All the court required him to do was leave John Hoge alone — and he can’t do it. Instead, Schmalfeldt violated the peace order even while attempting to pursue a legal appeal of the peace order, acting pro se (as his own attorney) believing that his right to harass Hoge was being infringed.

Bill Schmalfeldt seems to think we have forgotten why he’s doing this:

You can’t write about Brett Kimberlin, or Bill Schmalfeldt will “be investigating” you. Well, how’s that working out for you, Bill?

And while we’re at it, how’s that working out for Brett Kimberlin? Is he happy with all the services you have provided him, Bill?

My guess is that your lunatic incompetence makes you not particularly valuable, even as a deranged cyberstalker.

The U.S. decision to take military action in Syria is not about President Obama’s “red line” on the use of chemical weapons, Secretary of State John Kerry told senators Tuesday.

You can never go wrong, doing the opposite of what John Kerry says. Being against this stupid policy, however, means that I’m on the same side of the issue as those wretched Code Pink hippies.

At this moment, John Kerry is on TV demanding that the United States must now involve itself in the Syrian civil war.

No sane person is in favor of this.

John McCain is in favor of this.

I rest my case.

Having made up my mind weeks ago that U.S. involvement in Syria is bad policy, I’m bored to tears by this “debate,” knowing that when this noise is over, Congress will vote against involvement.

Or maybe they’ve all gone crazy.

Cable TV news networks won’t shut up about it, so I’m obligated to blog about Syria, but no one can force me to take it seriously.
