The Senators started the 1972 season in Kansas City against the defending AL champion Royals, and took two out of three thanks to our bullpen, which (unlike the Royals) is full of good arms to back up a solid starting rotation. We did lose the middle game thanks to the weather, which rained out the game in the 5th inning after the Royals managed to score four off Pat Dobson. Next up will be Pete’s Brewers.

‘An Extensive Criminal History’
Posted on | March 17, 2024 | Comments Off on ‘An Extensive Criminal History’
In the wee hours of September 9, 2014, there was a jailbreak at the Marion County Detention Center in Mullins, South Carolina, when “two inmates overpowered two detention officers inside the jail. The inmates handcuffed one and beat the other.” Jaremy [sic] Alexander Smith was able to escape, but deputies tracked him with bloodhouds and he was recaptured about two hours later. Fast forward to 2024 . . .
Friday morning, Marion County authorities issued a missing persons alert for Phonesia Machado-Fore, a paramedic who worked in neighboring Florence County. Machado-Fore had last been seen at her home on Tuesday and, the alert noted, she drove a white BMW.
Not coincidentally, at 5 a.m. Friday morning, about 1,500 miles west of Marion County, South Carolina, New Mexico State Police Officer Justin Hare “was dispatched to Interstate 40, near milepost 318, to assist a motorist in a white BMW who had a flat tire and was attempting to wave down other motorists.” When Officer Hare parked behind the disabled vehicle, the driver got out of the car and approached the passenger side of Officer Hare’s vehicle, The trooper rolled down his window and talked to the stranded motorist, offering him assistance. The man then shot Officer Hare, walked around to the driver’s side of his vehicle, shot the trooper again and, shoving the body into the passenger seat, drove away in the state police vehicle. The trooper’s body was dumped two miles west, on an access road, and the killer then drove another 10 miles before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. The New Mexico State Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend Officer Hare’s killer.
Yes, it’s the same Jaremy Alexander Smith who broke out of the Marion County jail 10 years ago and, about 12 hours after Smith murdered Officer Hare in New Mexico, authorities in South Carolina announced that they had recovered the body of Phonesia Machado-Fore in Dillon County, and that Jaremy Smith is a “person of interest” in her death.
Now, are you ready for the real kick in the head?
According to New Mexico State Police, Smith has “an extensive criminal history in South Carolina” that included taking hostages and rioting in jail; breaking and entering; armed robbery; resisting or evading police officers; auto theft; and shooting at or from a motor vehicle.
WHAT THE HELL, SOUTH CAROLINA? Given his “extensive criminal history,” why wasn’t Jaremy Smith behind bars? Here you’ve got two people dead — a paramedic in South Carolina and a state trooper in New Mexico, because some judge or district attorney missed a chance to put this murderous lowlife away for 20 or 30 years?
It’s not like South Carolina is a Democrat-controlled sanctuary of liberalism. The state has a Republican governor, two Republican U.S. senators, and six of seven U.S. House members are Republicans. You’re telling me that, in a state so dominated by Republicans — where Donald Trump won by a 12-point margin in 2020 — you can’t do something to make sure dangerous criminals get locked up before they kill somebody?
Somebody explain to me what the hell is going on here, because I’m at a loss to why a habitual felon like Jaremy Smith was walking the streets with his “extensive criminal history in South Carolina.”
UPDATE 2:10 p.m. ET: The cop-killer is now in custody:
The suspect wanted in the killings of a New Mexico state trooper and a South Carolina paramedic was captured Sunday following a shooting involving law enforcement, authorities said.
The suspect, Jaremy Smith, was taken into custody in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, after leading police on a chase that resulted in a shooting involving at least one deputy from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office, according to the New Mexico State Police. . . .
Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputies spotted Smith driving a car in Albuquerque at about 8 a.m. local time, officials said. Smith allegedly led deputies on a chase that ended in his arrest, according to authorities.
“The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is currently in the area of Unser and Anderson Hill for a deputy-involved shooting,” the agency said in a social media post, referring to a neighborhood in southwest Albuquerque. “The Multi-Agency Task Force has initiated an investigation.”
No deputies were injured in the incident, officials said.
Let justice be done. Of course, if justice were done, that “deputy-involved shooting” would have been the end for Jeramy Smith.

Three Shot Dead in Bucks County, Pa.; Manhunt Underway for Fugitive Suspect; UPDATE: Suspect Takes Hostages; UPDATE: Suspect Now in Custody; Victims Identified as Family, Baby Mama
Posted on | March 16, 2024 | 1 Comment
Authorities in Bucks County have identified a suspect in a series of deadly shootings that prompted a shelter-in-place order early Saturday morning.
Police say they are searching for 26-year-old Andre Gordon, who was last seen driving a stolen vehicle.
Police first responded to Viewpoint Lane in Falls Township just before 9 a.m. for a report of a shooting.
According to police, Gordon shot and killed two people at a home on the block and fled in a stolen vehicle. He then drove to Edgewood Lane around 9 a.m. and fatally shot a third person before fleeing the scene.
Then, around 9:15 a.m., police say he carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Dollar General on Bristol Pike in Morrisville. The driver of that vehicle was not harmed.
According to police, it is believed that Gordon knew all of the victims who were fatally shot. He is also believed to currently be homeless and has ties to Trenton, New Jersey.
He was last seen operating a 2016, dark grey Honda CRV with a Pennsylvania plate reading KFR-1534. . . .
Shortly before noon Saturday, sources tell FOX 29’s Steve Keeley the carjacked Honda was located in Trenton, New Jersey, and that SWAT teams were responding to the scene. Falls Township police have since confirmed that the vehicle was located unoccupied in Trenton.
Just some random “gun violence” on a Saturday morning.
UPDATE 1:55 p.m. ET: Now holding hostages in Trenton:
A man accused of killing three people during a violent rampage in Falls Township, Pennsylvania Saturday morning is now believed to have barricaded himself inside of a home in Trenton with hostages. . . .
Police say Gordon has since barricaded himself inside a home on the 100 block of Miller Street in Trenton. Authorities say they received information that Gordon may have taken multiple people hostage inside.
Nothing to see here. Just another Saturday.
UPDATE 7:10 p.m. ET: The drama in Trenton has ended:
Trenton, New Jersey, Mayor Reed Gusciora provided more details after a suspect who police say shot and killed three people in a nearby Pennsylvania township was taken into custody.
Authorities initially believed suspect Andre Gordon was barricaded inside a Trenton home, but police located him walking along a street in the city.
“The people who were inside the house, they went upstairs. They still felt that he was still in the house. So when they got out of the house on the upstairs window, they told police that he was still downstairs. We couldn’t take any chances, and it was still a great resolution by the area law enforcement,” he said in an interview with CNN’s Polo Sandoval at the scene.
“They found him two blocks away walking down the street,” the mayor said.
“He fit the description and they approached him; he had no weapon on him, and he cooperated and gave his identity to police themselves,” he continued.
The two victims at the first shooting location, on Viewpoint Lane, were identified “as Gordon’s stepmother, 52-year-old Karen Gordon, and his 13-year-old sister Kera Gordon”:
Three other people, including another 13-year-old, were inside the home at the time but were able to hide as Gordon was searching for them, [Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer] Schorn said. . . .
Around 9:01 a.m., police responded to the unit block of Edgewood Lane in Levittown, where Gordon allegedly shot and killed 25-year-old Taylor Daniel, with whom he has two children.
Both children were home during the incident, according to investigators.
Gordon then allegedly bludgeoned Daniel’s mother with his assault rifle before fleeing.
Did the suspect have a prior criminal history?
Officials said they couldn’t yet speak to a motive for the attacks. While Gordon had had some minor brushes with the law, they were “nothing that would indicate that anything like this would happen,” Falls Township Police Chief Nelson Whitney said at a news conference.
Did these “minor brushes with the law” include domestic violence? A restraining order, perhaps? But never mind. Just more “violence against women” that feminists won’t mention, for some reason.

Democrats: The Pro-Hamas Party
Posted on | March 15, 2024 | Comments Off on Democrats: The Pro-Hamas Party
First, the news:
President Joe Biden on Friday praised the speech delivered by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., a day earlier in which he said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has “lost his way” and called for new elections in Israel.
“He made a good speech and I think he expressed a serious concern shared not only by him but by many Americans,” Biden told reporters in the Oval Office when asked what he thought about Schumer’s remarks.
How shameful is this? Because about 100,000 Democratic primary voters in Michigan voted “uncommitted,” and because polls show Trump leading in Michigan (a must-win state for Joe Biden) Democrats have decided Israel’s democratically elected government is illegitimate:
President Joe Biden’s endorsement Friday of a call by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for Israel to oust Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and hold new elections marks the worst crisis in the history of U.S.-Israel relations.
Israel is currently fighting to defeat Hamas, which murdered 1,200 people in the October 7 terror attack. It is also under attack from Hezbollah in Lebanon, and has even faced missile attacks launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen.
All of these groups are funded and armed by Iran, which views the United States as its enemy. Instead of backing Israel fully, Biden is not only criticizing Israel in increasingly strident terms, but demanding it remove its democratic leader. . . .
Meanwhile, the Senate — at Schumer’s direction — is refusing to pass billions of dollars in military aid for Israel. And there are reports that the Biden administration is “slow-walking” deliveries of ammunition already promised to Israel.
This is happening because Netanyahu — like most Israelis — rejects Biden’s plan to impose a Palestinian state after the war, which would reward Hamas for terror. Israelis also want to win the war — not to wait, and allow Hamas to survive.
Biden is furious, and wants Netanyahu out of the way. So he, and Schumer, have sent a message to Israel: if you do not replace Netanyahu, you will not be receiving more money and more weapons. You will be on your own against terror. . . .
Read the rest of that by Joel Pollak. The Democrats’ scapegoating of Netanyahu is irrational, as John Podhoretz has explained:
Chuck Schumer stood on the floor of the U.S. Senate and declared that Israel needs a new government under a prime minister other than Benjamin Netanyahu. Schumer is calling for this despite the fact that, were there to be such a change in government right now, it wouldn’t change policy at the most important level. Israel’s populace and its politicians are in alignment. Its government is a unity government in which the prime minister’s most formidable rival is sitting alongside the majority coalition. The current Israeli government, the one Schumer says he wants to see replaced, unquestionably represents a consensus view of the Israeli electorate on the most important issues, and that view is shared by something like 75 percent of Israeli voters.
Israelis overwhelmingly support the war to destroy Hamas, so even if the Democrats were to succeed in getting rid of Netanyahu, this would not meaningfully change Israel’s policy. Keep in mind that this unprecedented maneuver — top U.S. leaders demanding “regime change” in a country with whom we are supposed to be allies — is driven entirely by the domestic politics of Biden’s reelection campaign. There is no fundamental principle involved, except to appease Arab voters in Michigan. The bogus claim that Israel is committing “genocide” in Gaza is based entirely on Hamas propaganda. Ace of Spades takes a long look at that propaganda, referencing an analysis by Tablet‘s Abraham Wyner, demonstrating that the “civilian casualty” figures provided by Hamas are almost certainly fictitious. Hamas has claimed that more than 30,000 civilians have been killed in Gaza, and these claims have been repeated by top administration officials, including Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. Wyner’s analysis finds that “the numbers are at a minimum grossly inaccurate and quite probably outright faked.”
So on the basis of fake statistics, enemy propaganda and 100,000 disgruntled Democratic primary voters in Michigan, U.S. foreign policy is now treating our ally as an enemy and vice-versa. Democrats have become the pro-Hamas party, and this is somehow supposed to help Biden become more popular? Good luck with that.
