Massachusetts Senate: When the Going Gets Weird, the Weird Vote Brown

Posted on | January 16, 2010 | 23 Comments

FITCHBURG, Mass. — Red Mass Group, Gateway Pundit and Legal Insurrection now pick up on the SEIU “Purple for Brown” phenomenon I spotted last night in Worcester. Weasel Zippers has MSNBC’s Ed Schultz boasting he’d cheat to elect Martha Coakley. Meanwhile, I’m updating for The American Spectator:

Seeing the Senate campaign from ground level is weird, in that you see and hear things — TV ads, mailers, local news coverage, the comments of voters — that aren’t visible from outside the election battle zone. So you’re watching selected microcosms of the campaign that don’t necessarily match the Big Picture the national pundits are commenting on.
Example: The phone just rang here at my friend’s house where I’m staying. It was a pre-recorded “robocall” from Republican Scott Brown’s daughter, Ayla, saying that Democrat Martha Coakley has “crossed the line” with her latest “disgusting and malicious” attacks. This state’s phones are being flooded with robocalls, and you have to wonder what the effect will be. . . .

Read the whole thing. Right now, Da Tech Guy is at confession (he’s a hard-core Catholic), and when he gets back, we’re heading out to Middleboro, Mass., for a Scott Brown bus tour event.

Thanks to all the readers who are contributing to the Shoe Leather Fund to help pay for this trip. Every $5 or $10 helps.

Martha Coakley is a dishonest nasty person.

Coakley is apparently just contemptable as a prosecutor in trampling civil liberties to the point that conservatives, libertarians, and lefties hate her.

She hates the Rex Sox Nation and mocks its heroes.

    Coakley’s stock is falling.

She is a disaster for the Country and a disaster for Massachusetts. I hope and pray she loses. Scott Brown is a better person and better candidate, regardless of party.

Either union members are finally waking up or it’s a tactic from SEIU to cast doubt on Brown. Earlier this week they were saying he’s just as liberal as Dede Scozafoza (sic) in NY-23.

Or like what’s posted above. These people see the destruction of America and have had it.

If this is legit then look for a rebellion in the union ranks.

“Seeing the Senate campaign from ground level is weird”

How can it not be weird for you, given your change of approach?

2008: Following third party candidate Bob Barr.

Fall 2009: Following third party candidate Doug Thompson.

January 2010: Following Dede Scoz … er, Scott Brown.

When you change your ground game from following the wild cards to following the establishment hacks, of course there’s going to be some cognitive dissonance.

Glad you are back. I was not sure if someone in Pennsylvania or Massachusett[e]s sold their souls to the Devil and cursed the site. Of course it would go a long way to explaining Murtha and Teddy.
