Holy Crap! Oregon Prosecutor Confirms National Enquirer Al Gore Sex Scandal

This morning, I treated it as a joke, but it turns out to be a legit news story: 

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office confirmed today that a woman who alleged unwanted sexual contact by Al Gore reported it to police in 2006, and the prosecutor’s office was briefed by the Portland Police Bureau in late 2006 and January 2007.
“We were told the woman was not willing to be interviewed by the Portland Police Bureau and did not want a criminal investigation to proceed,’’ Multnomah County District Attorney Michael Schrunk said, in a prepared statement.
Today, as the National Enquirer reported that it had interviewed a Portland masseuse who complained of unwanted sexual contact by the former vice president at the Hotel Lucia on Oct. 24, 2006, the district attorney’s office was notified that the Portland Police Bureau had conducted a further investigation of the allegation in 2009.

UPDATE: Steve Milloy:

The same day that Al Gore allegedly sexually attacked a masseuse in Portland, Oregon, he said the following at a presentation of his infamous slide show:

    But I have to say — this is particularly odd, coming out right now. Why not in 2006? Or even 2009? And why the National Enquirer? The last time they had a real story was John Edwards not-so-minor affair during his presidential campaign.

    And I ain’t no conspiracy freak, but Al Gore’s divorce was revealed as due to his out of wedlock wick dipping not all that long ago. Gorezilla used to be the High Holy Priest of Mother Gaia, beyond reproach, and worshiped by the MSM.

    Now his sordid personal life (apparently true, and certainly relevant given how he has been influencing environmental policies around the world) is being published everywhere.

    What gives? The MSM is too much in tune with the political hacks to go against them, even the tabloids. Has Gorezilla fallen out of favor with them? Or stepped on someone’s toes?

    UPDATE: More on the case here. I’m underwhelmed, but if he were a Republican this would be a huge scandal and proof of the entire party’s hypocrisy on sexual morality or something.

    There are rumors Obama picked Petraeus to take him out of contention in 2012. I am not buying that. Petraeus is like Powell, I think he really does not want to run.

    But does Obama consider Gorecle a threat? Or perhaps Hillary does? I wouldn’t think so but hmmmmm.

    Maybe the next shoe to drop is Mac Daddy McCain getting inappropriate with Lindsay Grahamsty. Well we knew that already. To McCain’s credit, he hasn’t really been into that cross over lifestyle since he lost the election.
