NY-25: Ann Marie Buerkle

Posted on | October 12, 2010 | 12 Comments

Several friends have been urging me to support the Republican challenger in New York’s 25th District. She’s awesome:

The 25th District around Syracuse has sent Republicans to Congress since the 1970s. In 2008, eight-term Republican Rep. Jim Walsh retired and, in that year’s Obama-led surge, Democrat Dan Maffei got elected. Now the latest poll shows the district is swinging back to the GOP, and Ann Marie Buerkle is a fine candidate. Go give her $20.

Democrats are pretending to be worried that there won’t be as many women in the next Congress. Yeah, ask some of those Hillary supporters how much Democrats care about electing women. When it suits their purpose, Democrats are atrociously sexist. How about some of you PUMAs go give Ann Marie Buerkle $50?

Pete Da Tech Guy and I are planning a r0ad trip together and hope to visit the 25th District next week. The Cook Political Report just downgraded Maffei’s seat from “likely Democrat” to “lean Democrat,” and if you’ll go support Ann Marie Buerkle, it might be rated a “toss-up” by the time we get there.

I wonder why she doesn’t excite the Tea Party and right-o-sphere crowd so much although she has a fighting chance to win?

    My theory:

    1) She doesn’t have a prominent Democrat as an opponent, to be despised, in her race, like say a Barney Frank, Nancy Pelsoi or a Grijalva.

And 2) She doesn’t have the looks of a Christine O’Donnell, Nikki Haley or a Michelle Bachmann.

I like how you dodge the irrefutable fact that Democrats are atrociously sexist.

You’ve hit the racist and homophobic buttons in your comments before, gg. Going for the trifecta?

Buerkle’s great. Be sure to look us up if you need a place to stay. One of Buerkle’s campaign offices is right down the road from me.

Did I mention Dan Maffei is awful? He is. Awful.

Local tea party folks support her.

Buerkle seems to be a nice lady and has good positions on the issues. Her campaign is underfunded and her adds are just short of pathetic. She got trounced by Maffei in a radio debate. She is the wrong candidate. No money, no influence. I will never understand why she was nominated over Bitz who had the same positions, but the money and fund raising capacity to run away with the race. Cross your fingers and hope for a good turn out and she might squeak by.

RSM, as always, you’ve done great groundcover journal reports thanks! You’ve also raised the profile of candidates in sleeper race, which may otherwise under the radar or never mentioned in bloggers news or media coverage. You deserve accolades.

Nice vernn, alas the off-topic pesky pest as always. Man, i’d killed for chocolate.

I was supportive of Bitz for a while. Then I started digging and he’s got some suspicious RINO tendencies. Expressed support for energy taxes, etc. I don’t know why you would say her ads are pathetic. As for funding, even that’s picking up. Any candidate would have trouble against Maffei who is one of the top 5 fundraisers in Congress. He has about $80K in contributions from Rangel fundraisers that he won’t give back.

I live in Maffei’s alleged home town (never seen him here, can’t find any record that he owns property here) and the signs for Buerkle outnumber Maffei signs at least 10 to 1.

As if they have a choice.

Coming up next: gg channeling Democrats’ penchant for religious bigotry.

Wouldn’t surprise me a bit, you’ve hit every other note in the Leftard cacophony.
