Holy Freaking Crap! High School Seniors Suspended, Accused of ‘White Supremacy’ for Wearing White T-Shirts to School

Posted on | May 26, 2011 | 33 Comments

Stogie at Saberpoint calls attention to this bizarre example of political correctness run amok in California:

Students banned from a Central Coast school for wearing a white t-shirt. On Wednesday, Soquel High School suspended at least two students. The students say it’s because of allegations, they’re part of a white supremacist group. . . .
Soquel High Senior Mikey Donnelly wore a white t-shirt for his senior class photo Tuesday. About 10 of his friends did the same. That decision may seem harmless. But Soquel High suspended Donnelly for three days because of it. . . .
Soquel High Principal Ken Lawrence-Emanuel was very tight-lipped about it, saying students’ punishments are confidential. But told me the school got several complaints about a white pride group on campus.

Read the whole thing. This is insane. And the fact that one of the accused students is Asian sort of argues against that suspicion.

Asians, the other other white supremacist.

At least when college placement scores are the issue!

  • john

the news took the entire situation out of context. many of those involved have previously been a part of white supremacist controversies at school and around santa cruz

  • Anamika

I’m an Asian and I can confess that most people who come to stay in the US have a lot of racial prejudice towards the blacks. Indeed, we liken ourself to Whites racially, although the feeling may not be mutual.

Even in the UK,  the English Defence League (EDL), a prominent white supremacist group had taken its first non-White member into its group. He happens to be an Asian and a Sikh. (Sikhs are supposedly know for their hatred of Muslims.)

The lesson here is that when White racists go after a common enemy (Blacks in the American case and Muslims in UK), they will compromise for teh sake of the bigger battle. Its like in the movie American History X where the neo-nazi gangs in prison make deals with the mexican gangs while they go against the black gangs.

  • Joe

I am sorry you are so prejudiced.  You should work to get over that

  • Anamika

I already did. Thanks for your concern.

    Got any links, John?

I do not believe the EDL is a white supremacist group.  Nor do I think they only have one non white person among its membership.

Part of the EDL Mission Statement is included below.

    (1) HUMAN RIGHTS: Protecting And Promoting Human RightsThe English Defence League (EDL) is a human rights organisation that was founded in the wake of the shocking actions of a small group of Muslim extremists who, at a homecoming parade in Luton, openly mocked the sacrifices of our service personnel without any fear of censure. Although these actions were certainly those of a minority, we believe that they reflect other forms of religiously-inspired intolerance and barbarity that are thriving amongst certain sections of the Muslim population in Britain: including, but not limited to, the denigration and oppression of women, the molestation of young children, the committing of so-called honour killings, homophobia, anti-Semitism and continued support for those responsible for terrorist atrocities.

Whilst we must always protect against the unjust assumption that all Muslims are complicit in or somehow responsible for these crimes, we must not be afraid to speak freely about these issues. This is why the EDL will continue to work to protect the inalienable rights of all people to protest against radical Islam’s encroachment into the lives of non-Muslims.

We also recognise that Muslims themselves are frequently the main victims of some Islamic traditions and prap[ctices. The Government should protect the individual human rights of British Muslims. It should ensure that they can openly criticise Islamic orthodoxy, challenge Islamic leaders without fear of retribution, receive full equality before the law (including equal rights for Muslim women) and leave Islam if they see fit, without fear of censure.Continue reading on Examiner.com Islamic vs. Islamism – Fayetteville Political Buzz | Examiner.com http://www.examiner.com/political-buzz-in-fayetteville/islamic-vs-islamism?fb_comment=33620586#ixzz1NX91wq4R

    Didn’t Fonzie wear a white T-shirt? Ayyy!

Would they have been suspended if they were minority kids wearing all
blue or all red? I sincerely doubt it — despite the fact that it would
have been a clear case of advertising a gang affiliation. So why
should all white shirts be a problem?

Oh, yeah — they aren’t afraid of the white kids or white “civil
rights leaders” showing up with reporters and cameras to raise a stink
    about discrimination.

  • Anamika

    Nor do I think
they only have one non white person among its membership[EDL].

I stand corrected. It was actually the far right British National Party (BNP) that took its first non-White member who happens to be Sikh, a couple of years ago.

Sikh who ‘hates Islam’ becomes BNP’s first non-white member.

<a href="http://wallscometumblingdown.wordpress.com/2009/11/22/sikh-man-to-be-first-non-white-member-of-the-bnp-why-the-surprise/"Sikh man to be first non-white member of the BNP: why the surprise?
For some years now, and despite accusations of being racist, the BNP has
been seeking tentative links with some from within British Sikh and
    Hindu communities.”…

In fact, had people been watching and responding accordingly to
recent events rather than the same talking heads merely offering the
same old obligatory condemnations – the BNP/ English Defence League
(EDL)/ etc “are bad” – then it would have been noticed that when the EDL
took to the streets across our cities earlier this year, they did so
carrying banners that proclaim: ‘Black and White Unite’.
Black and white unite, that is, against Islam.

    This from a month ago:

Call to Banish Sikh EDL member

“A report by the Turban Campaign this week
says Sikh groups are looking to expel EDL member Guramit Singh from the
Sikh community. The report states: “Sikhs opposed to the English
Defence League (EDL) have issued an ultimatum to Guramit Singh,
spokesperson for the EDL who claims to be of Sikh heritage.”

Hideously diverse Britain: What makes a Sikh join the far right?

It’s hard not to raise an eyebrow . . .But still one looks at Rajinder Singh, the useful idiot who implores
non-whites to join the BNP, and more recently Guramit Singh, who does
the same mucky job for the English Defence League, and it’s hard not to
raise an eyebrow. Both minorities. Both Sikh. How to explain?
“”So what’s the draw in both cases? Both say they want to fight Muslim “extremism”.

Anamika, I don’t have a problem with Asians.  Been married to one for 35 years on June 5th.  They have values similar to my own:  education, family, hard work, getting ahead.

  • Anonymous

You forgot an adjective in there, buddy. Don’t forget, there are gay conservatives in the audience, okay?

  • Anonymous

Yeah, there’s a wee bit off difference between the BNP and the EDL. Aside from the fact that they use completely different words in their names, you moron.

  • Anamika

Thanks or noticing that and pointing out the “difference.”  While BNP nominated its first non-white member, EDL elected its first non-white spokesman — both of them Sikhs. My point still remains the same and supported inspite of the minor error. But since it seems to make you feel good and superior calling me a moron, i welcome your comment with some amusement.

  • Anamika

Nice to know. I never had problems with whites either.

The question was/is about having blacks in our lives…

As Stacy once said(allegedly?), and i agree:

    “[T]he
media now force interracial images into the public mind and a number of perfectly
rational people react to these images with an altogether natural revulsion.
The white person who does not mind transacting business with a black bank clerk
may yet be averse to accepting the clerk as his sister-in-law, and THIS IS NOT
RACISM, no matter what Madison Avenue, Hollywood and Washington tell us.”

Without more information I can’t really pass any sort of judgement on this actual case.  Are these ordinary students, or racist idiots?  We don’t know yet.

But I can play with some hypotheticals.  Lets say for the sake of argument that all of these students really are die hard racist idiots, and that wearing these white shirts was their way of hoisting the flag for their ridiculous cause.

Now lets imagine for a moment that these die hard racist idiots were not a bunch of crackers hating on everyone who isn’t like them, but young La Raza members, or Black Panthers – hating on anyone who isn’t like them.

Would the reaction from the school been the same?

We already know that it would not.  School sanctioned La Raza hate group “clubs” are a common feature in many schools in the southwest, and I can’t imagine that the treatment of black panther groups would be any different.

Why?  Because according to Gramscian Marxist theory, only “white” people can be racists.  When other groups engage in racism, they are “speaking truth to power” or some other equally ridiculous euphemism.

Show me a Black who thinks he is ‘racially superior’ to the Whites and i will show you a hundred Whites, Asians or Hispanics who believe their race is inherently superior to that of the Blacks.

  • http://saberpoint.blogspot.com Stogie Chomper

Anamika, that old quote is 20 years old.  According to polls, that was what most Americans thought back then.

Leftists like to bring up that quote, knowing that in today’s racially hyper-sensitive environment, it will muster ill-will against RSM.

My question is:  are you one of those leftists, in the guise of a troll here?  Otherwise, why bring up this leftist-treasured quote?

Right and wrong is not a numbers game.  Bad guys don’t get extra points by being part of a bigger team.

That being said, I don’t even think your conjecture is true to begin with.

Only a mentally ill person would be intrinsically motivated to hate another person because of their skin colour.  Since most people of every race are normal, well adjusted individuals; actual racial hatred is very rare and is exclusively confined to nutters.

The assorted ethnicities that are collectively categorized as “white” in the united states constitute a majority of the population.  Therefore they will, by maths alone, have more nutters who go around being racists.  But what they won’t have is a greater percentage of their population going around being racists.

Meanwhile other ethnicities that are either declared distinct races by themselves, or cobbled together into a collective racial designation, will also have their own nutters who will go around being racists. Because these groups are smaller, maths once again dictates that the total number of racists from these groups will be fewer in number.  But once again they will not have a greater percentage of their population going around being racists.

So your notion that for every black racist there are hundreds of whites, asians, hispanics, etc racists isn’t just wrong, it is ridiculous.

No one cares what colour you are.  But EVERYONE cares what kind of a person you are.

  • Anamika

So your notion that for every black racist there are hundreds of whites,
asians, hispanics, etc racists isn’t just wrong, it is ridiculous.

You don’t get the point. My point was about a belief in “racial superiority”, not whether a person indulges in your typical racist rants and/or practices ‘racial discrimination’ as a part of his/her daily life.

To put it simply, members of a black extremist group like Black Panthers don’t believe in their “racial superiority” as does a neo-Nazi group. But of course both may practice discrimination of other races based on race.  Racism based on a belief in “racial superiorty” and dehumanizing other races is the bigger issue here, not whether “well adjusted” black/hispanic/white people want/tend to hang out with other black/hispanic/white people respectively.

  • Anamika

I didn’t know leftists treasure that quote. I googled RSM’s views on race and got that gem.

You say it was 20 years old? Interesting.

Look’s like Madison Avenue, Hollywood and Washington have successfully brain washed the American public and won it handily. Next up gay marriage?

RSM’s recent defense from an year ago, speaking to Dave Weigel about the interracial couples story:

“I know lots of interracial couples.
They’re attributing that to me based on something they don’t know
    anything about.”

I bet some of them (not just the white half of the couples) are his best friends.

  • Crawford

Really? There’s a lot of hatred in your comment.

  • Crawford

Calling you a moron doesn’t make him feel superior to you. The fact you’re a moron makes him superior to you.

  • Crawford

Wow. Do you get your thoughts from Kos or from LGF? You certainly don’t get them based on independent thought, research, and the facts.

  • Crawford

“I googled RSM’s views on race and got that gem.”

What makes it so easy for you to lie?

  • Crawford

“Show me a Black who thinks he is ‘racially superior’ to the Whites
and i will show you a hundred Whites, Asians or Hispanics who believe
their race is inherently superior to that of the Blacks.”

You sure know a lot of racists. Birds of a feather?

  • Crawford

“To put it simply, members of a black extremist group like Black
Panthers don’t believe in their “racial superiority” as does a neo-Nazi
    group.”

That’s either an utter lie, or you’re completely ignorant.
