ROMNEY RALLY IN TOLEDO:
Huge Crowd Stands in Line in the Rain!

Posted on | September 26, 2012 | 58 Comments

TOLEDO, Ohio
OK, if you believe the polls, Mitt Romney’s 10 points behind in Ohio. But then there are those people — THOUSANDS of people — who stood in line in the rain to get in to see Mitt this afternoon in downtown Toledo:

QUESTION: Do you believe in the polls, or do you believe in the people?

UPDATE: Here’s a look at the crowd inside the rally:

UPDATE II: Still waiting for Mitt to take the stage here. A few linkbacks while we wait:

UPDATE III: Mitt keeps hammering on the national debt, saying Obama has added “about $6 trillion” to the debt, and later saying that, if Obama is re-elected, the U.S. national debt will reach $20 trillion by 2016.

UPDATE IV: There were times during this rally when the crowd just went wild cheering and began chanting “Mitt! Mitt! Mitt!” People who say Mitt isn’t “exciting” should attend one of these rallies. I’ll have some video in a minute.

UPDATE V: As promised, here is the video of the end of Romney’s speech. Listen to the crowd cheering at the end — excitement!

Gotta hit the road and go file my column for tomorrow’s American Spectator.

Too good not to mention – Politico’s Roger Simon did that stupid “satire” claiming Ryan was distancing himself with Romney, not funny at all, and entirely made up. But Tommy Christopher, Paul Krugman, and Lawrence O’Donnell all were taken in and ran with it as if it were straight news!

These losers didn’t bother to contact anyone for confirmation – not Simon, not Ryan, not anyone – even though it would be odd for Ryan to want to head off to NYC for “finger sandwiches with Peggy Noonan” even on a bad day.

Stupidity this great needs mocking – it REQUIRES mocking.

And Roger Simon, keep the day job as long they will pay you. Funny, you aren’t.

That’s another huge difference between Romney and Obama. I really believe Romney does love America. I think Obama despises except for the ways he can use it. The grifter.

Totally blown away. Toledo is deep into blue territory as in all Democrat all the time. Unless they bused those people in from farm country, half of that crowd voted Obama last time. I’m starting to believe the polls are a bit skewed…

Romney and Ryan need to stop using the word “trillion”. They need to say “thousand billion” instead. For example, the debt is now sixteen thousand billion dollars and stands to grow another four thousand billion dollars if Obama is re-elected.

  17. Jackie Treehorn
    September 26th, 2012 @ 8:54 pm

Wow, a couple hundred old white people waited in line in Toledo to watch The Millionaire from Gilligan’s Island tell them that he feels their pain. I guess “a couple thousand people” negates solid Obama leads in swing states shown by every major poll across the country! Oh, I forgot, Republicans don’t like the results of polls so they claim bias and create their own results. Funny that the self-proclaimed “Party of Responsibility” always blames everyone else for everything. Even reality.

You can’t put a poor product out on the field and expect a big win. Between the last election and this election, the Repubs can’t seem to put out a competitive candidate lately. Own up to it. And when Obama is re-elected, you’ll be need to take a deep breath, and analyze whether it’s the message or the messenger that’s really the problem…..

    September 27th, 2012 @ 1:58 pm

So the moderator blocked me from commenting, ostensibly so that you guys can discuss the world in a vacuum, without opposing views. So when I don’t respond, you’ll know why. What a bunch of wusses!

Romney’s offered no compelling plan-plus he’s systematically ostracized the poor, the elderly, minorities, students, and women. Not much of a voting block left to support him, I’m afraid. Heck, he’s bragging about universal healthcare in Mass. as an example of his success in office. He seems to like the taste of his foot, that’s for sure. But you guys blame the ref, not your quarterback that can’t stop throwing interceptions. Romney HAS to throw picks, because he has to appease a once-proud party whose interests have been hijacked by extremists, and at the same time try to appeal to normal Americans. Good luck with that.

Gloogle Gloogle if you believe that Romney is ahead of Obama nationally because your daughter went to a GOP rally, I can only assume that her educational level is higher than yours. Why don’t you dispute my claims with something other than a knock on my trolling skills?

Here’s a question for all of you. Have you ever had reasonable discourse with anyone, or is your conversation now completely limited to narrow-minded, one-sided discussion boards where you spout about your imaginary, lazy enemies? If you always root for the opposition party to fail first and your country to succeed second, how patriotic are you, really?

Let the zingers and obnoxious comments begin. But so far, it seems like the lack of any substantive responses to my point about Romney’s inept campaign speaks for itself…….. Take care of yourselves, folks. And enjoy the next six weeks.

    1) I presume that you are a supporter of Mitt Romney. 2) It makes no difference to me if you call me a name. 3) The average voter who reads the comments here at TheOtherMcCain just might look at your inability to respond to a perfectly reasonable request for information without using name calling as an indication that I have hit a “sensitive spot”. I would hope that a campaign alleged to have some measure of “good sense” would be able to offer up a number as to where they are going to draw a line in the sand and say no more. Your complete inability to provide any such number is one indication that Romney/Ryan’s campaign has none. 4) If you are unable to provide one and the campaign chooses not to offer one then that is one more reason why I fail to be inspired by the Romney/Ryan campaign.

Don’t worry about me or the other readers of this blog though. You must be quite certain that Mitt Romney is a shoe-in otherwise you wouldn’t be responding to sincere and polite inquiries with name calling instead of just admitting that voters have nothing but hope to rely upon that Romney isn’t going to be more more big spender.

You don’t have a number to offer, do you?
