Doctor Death: 29-Year-Old Patient Dies After Late-Term Abortion in Maryland UPDATE: Complete Media Blackout by Feminists, Major News Organizations

Dr. LeRoy Carhart is one of America’s most notorious abortionists. He specializes in late-term abortion and, unless you actually know what’s involved in it, you cannot possibly imagine what a gruesome atrocity the bland phrase “late-term abortion” describes. Now, according to a report by Operation Rescue, a 29-year-old woman has died after Carhart performed such an atrocity at a Maryland clinic:

A 29-year old woman died [Thursday] as the result of fatal complications suffered during an abortion at 33 weeks that was done by LeRoy Carhart at Germantown Reproductive Health Center in Germantown, Maryland. . . .
The woman, who came for a third trimester abortion from out-of-state, arrived at GRHC on Sunday and was seen by pro-life activists every day through Wednesday. Witnesses said she appeared “pale and weak.”
Early Thursday morning, the woman began suffering chest pain and other discomforts. Her attempts to reach Carhart were unsuccessful. The woman was taken by her family from her hotel to a nearby hospital emergency room at approximately 5:00 a.m. Efforts by hospital staff to contact Carhart or get informational assistance from the abortion clinic were unsuccessful.
The patient suffered massive internal bleeding into her abdominal cavity. She slipped into a Code Blue condition approximately six times before finally succumbing to her injuries at around 9:30 a.m. The case has been placed with the Medical Examiner for further investigation.

The “pro-life activists” who saw the woman at the Germantown clinic were pro-life protesters and “sidewalk counselors.” You may not realize it, but every abortion clinic in America is picketed every day by pro-life volunteers who attempt to dissuade women from terminating their pregnancies. I’ve met these clinic protesters and, contrary to media propaganda, they are not dangerous hate-filled fanatics. They are actually some of the kindest people you’d ever want to meet, as contrasted to the manifest evil of people like the butcher Dr. LeRoy Carhart:

“The avoidable death of this young woman dramatically illustrates the dangers of third trimester abortions that are done outside of the safety of obstetrical standards,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and Pro-life Nation.
Newman told LifeNews, “In 2005, Carhart was also involved in the death of Christin Gilbert, who died after a third trimester abortion in Wichita, Kansas. It is time for medical boards to put an end to these horrifically dangerous and barbaric third trimester abortions. If they do not, we can only expect Carhart and his associates to send more women to the morgue.” . . .
“It is so tragic that this family had to lose not only their nearly full-term child, but also their wife, daughter, and sister,” said Michael Martelli, Executive Director of the Maryland Coalition for Life. “What is most appalling is that the State of Maryland refused to hear the pleas of this community, and has allowed this man to continue to butcher women and children.”
On the very same day that this woman died, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene posted on their website that they issued a license to Carhart’s clinic to perform abortions — without a single inspection of the facility, Martelli said.
“He already killed Christin Gilbert in Kansas in 2005, and now another senseless tragedy has come as a result of Carhart’s so-called women’s healthcare and the apathy of the pro-abortion Maryland State Government,” said Martelli.

How do the “pro-choice” people who enable monsters like Carhart justify these atrocities in the name of “women’s rights”?

And how do they sleep at night?

 

 

UPDATE: More background on the notorious Carhart:

Carhart is one of the few doctors in the U.S. to openly perform late-term abortions. Though he lives in Nebraska, he has maintained an office in Germantown — Maryland’s abortion laws are less restrictive, he said — ever since Nebraska outlawed most abortions performed after the 20th week of gestation. . . .
[H]e sees himself continuing the work of his mentor Dr. George Tiller, a Kansas doctor who was fatally shot in 2009 . . .
“It seemed that there was no one coming forth to do the later abortions and that’s what Dr. Tiller said to me — somebody needs to do this.”

Michael Martelli of the Maryland Coalition for Life points out that the abortionist Carhart “was hailed as a ‘hero’ in the film ‘After Tiller’ at the recent Sundance Film Festival.” And now this liberal “hero” has sent a 29-year-old woman to a Maryland morgue.

UPDATE: What do reporters do for a living? Well, among other things, they attend press conferences and read press releases. The press release from the Maryland Coalition for Life included a contact number, so I called it and wrote a brief item for The American Spectator:

Neither the Washington Post nor the Baltimore Sun has yet reported on this woman’s death in Maryland, despite the fact that there was an 11 a.m. press conference today in front of the Germantown clinic. The story is also being ignored by the Associated Press, USA Today, the New York Times, and television news networks. As of 1:30 p.m. Friday, the largest organizations reporting the story were WorldNetDaily and LifeNews.com.
The local Montgomery Gazette was the only newspaper to send a reporter to the press conference, Martelli told me in a brief telephone interview this afternoon. Martelli said he had been contacted about the story by only a “few” reporters, “mostly from pro-life or Christian organizations.” The Maryland Coalition for Life has announced that it will hold a prayer vigil, memorial, and follow-up press conference at 9 a.m. Monday near the Germantown clinic where Carhart performed the botched abortion.

So here you have reporters who can’t be bothered to report an important news story. What can you do to break through this wall of silence?

It’s difficult to embarrass liberals, who have no conscience, no integrity, no decency, nor any sense of shame.

    i love how there is no awareness that the woman may have gotten the abortion, lets say for fetal anomalies or risk to the woman’s health….you just JUMP to the conclusion that this woman would have been “saved” if she hadn’t aborted her child.you are essentializing the issue of late-term in the same way that general media does, instead of asking “WHY” late-term might occur.

    As someone who was born 7 weeks premature, was given a 50/50 chance, and had to fight for every breath, I find this practice downright evil. I thank God for the mercy and grace that he showed toward me, but we can’t expect Him to bless our nation if we continue to abide this. And let’s not forget, our president’s view of life. He even voted against rendering aid to babies who survive abortion.

    At 33 weeks, a healthy baby has a 95%+ chance of survival. If the risk was truly so great, why not go to a real hospital, see a real OB, and deliver? She’d have been far more likely to survive there than in the hands of this quack.

    Late-term abortion is simply indefensible. And I can’t help but notice that you haven’t even bothered to try and defend it.

    Your inference that LeRoy Carhart is interested in saving human lives is a thesis that seems rather starkly contradicted by the available evidence.
    The man is a mass murderer, by vocation and trade.

    Assuming you are correct that there were ‘risks’ to the mother’s health why not go to a real hospital and try to save both lives?

    Fetal ‘anomalies’ at 33 weeks are human anomalies. Or maybe you just don’t see a problem with killing people because they are ‘defective.’

    Dear Ignorant,
    A child was viable at 33wks ,meaning they could live outside their mother and survived . If the mother has health issues it should have been delt with at a Hospital where they work to save lives not kill people. A normal doctor whould have performed a C section to seperate the child/ mother and given Medical assistence to whomever. Its scares me that you can vote.

    I posit that most abortion clinics are not kept to the same standard as hospitals and clinics. Also – there is no review board after a death.
    Don’t doctors have their protocols and actions reviewed after an unexpected death?
    Too bad the GOP House and Senators don’t sponsor the “Anti-Child Abuse Act” which requires all federal funding be stripped from surgical facilities that do not follow AMA and the Hospital Association’s standards of cleanliness, and procedural review in the event of an unexpected death.
    And get plenty of children on the screen, and the tearful, weeping and sobbing parents talking about how cheerful little Timmy was before the doctor removed his tonsils.
    Don’t be direct.

    There is NO situation in which a late-term abortion would be required to save the life of the mother.

    And if it were her life which was in danger, she would have gone to a hospital in the first place, wouldn’t she? Abortion clinics don’t offer adult health care, just butchery.

    If this was a medically necessary abortion it would have been done in a hospital not in a clinic. I would have liked to know more about why she made this choice so late in her pregnancy and not adoption. Had she lost her job? Did her
    husband lose his job? Seems so bleak, so sad.

    I won’t judge her or her decision but I am saddened by the loss.

    One big excuse offered up for the necessity of legalizing abortion is that when it was illegal women were having dangerous back-alley abortions from quack doctors using coat hangers, and so abortion had to be legalized to protect the lives and health of women. Funny, but a neutral observer might say that instead of having dangerous back-alley abortions we now have dangerous clinical abortions from quack doctors. Surely, when we take a look at the surgical instruments used in abortions, there is not much to recommend them as being superior to a coat hanger, save for the lack of rust. How is the current situation in any way an improvement over when abortion was illegal?

    I know this family, the baby was not going to survive, as its brain was not developing, and there were other major complications. I am no pro choice supporter, but this is the one instant where abortion was used as a legitimate medical procedure, and not a form of birth control.

My comment was directed at regular media some of whom are showing concern for the adult killed by Carhart but who show no concern for the children killed everyday. They are both humans who should be safe from murderers like Carhart.

    If it were true that the baby had no brain activity, wouldn’t it STILL HAVE BEEN SAFER to have the baby delivered via c-section or induced labor at a HOSPITAL rather than have a lethal injection administered to the baby’s heart through the mother’s abdominal wall and then have the mother leave the facility and have to return on 2 more occasions to finish the job? Seriously, think about it. Even if the baby were going to die anyway, the mother belonged in a HOSPITAL, not an abortuary. In a HOSPITAL, she could have gotten proper medical care and if the pregnancy needed to end, it would not have been through such a barbaric procedure as what that woman (and her baby) were subjected to. Do you understand that the procedure which killed the mother was a multi-day procedure in which the baby was killed in utero on the first day and then the mother had to have that baby inside of her, dead, for two more days while she was NOT under medical supervision?
