Our Lawless President: Obama’s IRS Thuggery Certainly Was No Coincidence

Posted on | May 17, 2013 | 27 Comments

Dan Collins calls attention to Obama’s dog-whistle tactics, as described by Kimberly Strassel in the Wall Street Journal:

The way to limit Romney money was to intimidate donors from giving. Donate, and the president would at best tie you to Big Oil or Wall Street, at worst put your name in bold, and flag you as “less than reputable” to everyone who worked for him: the IRS, the SEC, the Justice Department. . . .
The president derided “tea baggers.” Vice President Joe Biden compared them to “terrorists.” In more than a dozen speeches Mr. Obama raised the specter that these groups represented nefarious interests that were perverting elections. “Nobody knows who’s paying for these ads,” he warned. “We don’t know where this money is coming from,” he intoned.
In case the IRS missed his point, he raised the threat of illegality: “All around this country there are groups with harmless-sounding names like Americans for Prosperity, who are running millions of dollars of ads against Democratic candidates . . . And they don’t have to say who exactly the Americans for Prosperity are. You don’t know if it’s a foreign-controlled corporation.”

Ed Morrissey politely refers to “circumstantial evidence” that the IRS was in the tank for Obama’s re-election. Of course, they managed to keep a lid on the scandal until after the election:

The IRS commissioner “has known for at least a year that this was going on,” said [NBC’s Lisa] Myers . . . “[W]hat would have happened if this fact came out in September 2012, in the middle of a presidential election? The terrain would have looked very different.”

Just another random coincidence, you see? But at least one member of Congress is having none of these lame-ass “I don’t remember” excuses:

    The media is at a crossroads. They must decide whether they are REALLY the “watchdogs” that they’ve always claimed (even while ignoring Kermit Gosnell)… or if they really are the lackeys of the democrat party.

    My guess is that they’ll choose what’s behind Door #2. To really press on Benghazi and the IRS scandal and the AP wiretapping scandal offers nothing but bad results from them (assuming that Barry and his minions are guilty, as I think that they are):

    — The “historic” presidency of Barack Hussein Obama, which MiniTru worked so hard to bring about and then prolong into a second term, will go down as one of the most corrupt in our history;

    — If a black man – nay, a minority of any sort – ever runs for the office again, it’ll be, “Do you think he’ll be another Obama?” Libs can’t have that;

    — They look either incompetent or else corrupt: why didn’t they catch this before?

    — The entire liberal concept of Benevolent Big Government will take a huge – perhaps fatal – knock. Even that fathead Piers Morgan is admitting that those paranoid gun nuts who worry about tyranny might have a point after all;

    — Given how closely intertwined Barry’s admin is with big shots in MiniTru, some of THEM might lose their jobs or wind up in jail.

    In short, the entire liberal narrative of a brilliant minority presiding over a benevolent, all-wise government, watched carefully by legions of selfless, dedicated, professional, non-partisan journalists, will be exposed as having no more reality than an LSD-induced fantasy. Instead, the reality that unlimited government offers unlimited potential for unlimited abuse will be thrown in the faces of all those Americans who think that the government that can give them whatever they want would NEVER try to use that awesome power against them.

    Obama is a Chicago politician. Most of his advisers are Chicago politicians. Chicago politics is all about thuggery.

    ‘Nuff said. Except, send Chicago to some Third World nation. That way, the city will be right at home.

    Remember the brilliant post about Obama’s rise in Chicago “Who sent you?” The premise being no one rises in Chicago politics by chance or talent alone.

    Remember this: these are Democrats.

    Sure many of them may be expressing outrage now, just as the media is shocked, shocked! —especially since their own rice bowl has been pissed in out of Obama’s petty spite. But do not confuse their artful outrage with any genuine regret or desire to make amends. This is CYA for 2014, and nothing more.

    Because these are Democrats. In DC, in your classroom or your office, on your block, in your building: one and all they like that this was done. They want Obama to get away with it and they will gloat if and when he does, just as they gloated when Clinton got away with perjury under oath, just as they gleefully turned LBJ’s Asian disaster into “Nixon’s War” even though Nixon ended the conflict their corrupt, racist Democrat expanded beyond all sanity.

    They preach diversity and inclusion but their every action is aimed at breaking us into more and more fractured, squabbling fractions. They moan about equality and fairness while never imagining the restrictions they demand on the rest of our lives will ever afflict theirs, the true ruling class. They treat liberty and prosperity as zero-sum games and by God they’ve got theirs, Jack.

    These were not accidents or over-ambitious flunkies, not at Benghazi, not in Mexico, not in Boston, not at the IRS. This is how they rule, and there is no challenging them while they are in power and control the DOJ and too many of the courts.

    The only tthing we can do is chip this power they’ve arrogated to themselves out from under them one bit at a time. There is no moral reason to vote for a Democrat anymore, not one, anymore than there was in 1860. Remember that in 2014 and 2016.

    What I hope is that someone will get to the underlying issue with the IRS. Whether the abuses lead back to this administration or these particular abuses the underlying problem is the union and the unions liberal bias. Picture ACORN abusing power over your bank account, medical records, able to confiscate your assets, place liens against your property and worse. This doesn’t end when Obama leaves folks. And Congress needs to do exactly what they did with ACORN, defund them. Well, give the IRS a choice. Either dump the union or we’ll dismantle your organization entirely. There is no place for public sector unions in our government and there is no way to restore confidence in that organization as long as they are operating as political entity themselves and as an extension of the democrat party.

    Alas, all of BRA (Black Run America) is hopelessly corrupt. Detroit, Memphis, Birmingham, rapidly followed by Atlanta, are in deep sauerkraut at the moment. Detroit is merely the worst of the bunch. For now.

    Exactly!! No freaking bias my ass. And though it’s a glaringly obvious problem given who was abused here, you’re not going to hear it brought up in the questioning at these hearings because those contributions were what got many of them elected. If we don’t fix this it doesn’t matter who wins the house, senate or presidency. Conservatives will continue to be screwed with little recourse.

    If criticism of this president is all it takes……then I should have expected to see the black helicopters and swat teams out on the lawn by now. But these are insidious cowards abusing power and stealing our liberties through the back door.

    I have to say that the system invites the IRS to abuse it’s powers. It doesn’t matter much which party is in office.

    Think about it, the IRS decides what is and is not an acceptable religion.

    The IRS cracks down on churches that are too political. Considering both the abolitionist movement and the 1950/60s version of the civil rights movement, there is something very wrong there.

    The IRS uses your employer and your bank as unpaid spies on you.

    And it is nearly impossible to challenge an IRS “ruling” in the standard court system.

    All this is before anyone in the IRS picks a group to threaten.

    It’s a system problem, not a political problem.

    […] Our Lawless President: Obama’s IRS Thuggery Certainly Was No Coincidence – Obama has operated like this during his entire career.  In Illinois he won elections by illegally getting divorce records unsealed.  The IRS issues are just the tip of the iceberg. You do not want government to have that much power, because it will inevitably get abused. […]
