#Zimmerman ACQUITTED: Not Guilty UPDATE: #Trayvon in ‘Amerikkka’?

Posted on | July 13, 2013 | 75 Comments

That’s all we know for now.

UPDATE 9:56 p.m. ET: CNN announced that the jury had reached a verdict about 9:45 p.m. The general consensus of observers is that it will either be a manslaughter conviction or acquittal.

We await the word. Court has been re-convened in Sanford.

UPDATE 10 p.m. ET:  ACQUITTED.

The jury deliberated for 16 hours.

UPDATE 10:05 p.m. ET: Trayvon Martin’s supporters outside the courtroom are, predictably, very agitated.

UPDATE 10:23 p.m. ET: Honestly, I thought the jury was going to convict on manslaughter — even had that set up as the headline and then was shocked when I heard, “Not guilty.” But I was never emotionally invested in this story, one way or the other. There were arguments to be made either way. A kid should be able to walk to the store and back without ending up shot dead; on the other hand, the original finding of investigators was that Zimmerman was exercising his right to self-defense, and there were those who believed Zimmerman was put on trial simply to satisfy political agitators.

Whatever. More than anything else, I hate the way the media exploited and distorted this case, and one in particular I hate:

UPDATE 10:29 p.m. ET: Oh, yeah, it’s predictable:

“Amerikkka” — and don’t you deny it, haters!

UPDATE 10:45 p.m. ET: More reactions from Twitter:

UPDATE 10:54 p.m. ET: You stay classy, Trayvon supporters!

Seriously? Random violence against just any “white boy” is justified on the basis of this trial in Florida?

UPDATE 11:15 p.m. ET: You want to see what a creepy ass cracker looks like in a hoodie? Then you must click the link:

In case you don’t know, Neal Rauhauser is an associate of convicted bomber/”progressive activist” Brett Kimberlin.

UPDATE 11:35 p.m. ET: You stay classy, continued:

Some of these people are so bad, you have to notify the feds:

UPDATE 11:50 p.m. ET: The New York Times story:

SANFORD, Fla. — George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, igniting a national debate on racial profiling and civil rights, was found not guilty late Saturday night of second-degree murder. He was also acquitted of manslaughter, a lesser charge. . . .

Next phase in the DOJ/Oblamo plan is the Civil Rights trial of Zimmerman. Clearly he violated Martin’s civil rights. This will gin up support for the 2014 elections like the arrest did for the 2012 elections.

The most important phase is over. Now, Dershowitz and others will be filing bar complaints and law suits, as well they should. Corey is on the news now, spinning like a top, spouting pablum for the masses, nonsense that has nothing to do with her sworn duties under the law. People like her give all lawyers a bad name.

    July 13th, 2013 @ 10:20 pm

I have little doubt that the family will sue him civilly. Of course, ALL of the Martins’ misbehavior, both father and son, tweets, arrests, emails, Facebook postings, will be entered into evidence. All of it.

“A kid should be able to walk to the store and back without ending up shot dead.”
True; but youths who abuse dangerous drugs, known to exacerbate violent impulses, shouldn’t be defended by partisan presidents any time they pick on decent citizens whilst concerned citizens should be allowed to walk around their own neighbourhoods without being assaulted by aggressive hoodlums.

Good for Zimmerman! It would have been a travesty if he would have been convicted on either count. Martins death is a tragedy in that if a crime wave had not hit that neighborhood, he might be alive today.
P.S. Hope the jurists have all their taxes in order.

I’d like the some protests against the absolutely unacceptable medical / CSI work. The detectives seemed to be doing their best, but the autopsy and the storage of TM’s clothes and possessions was just unacceptable — going through the motions and not particularly convincingly at that.

Angela Corey? The mayor? The city council? Probably need some Maalox right now. They fired or demoted employees who would not toe the line, in addition to their misbehavior towards Zimmerman. Who will be the first to start spilling the beans?

I’m Hispanic & grew up In a Hispanic/ black neighborhood & I have love for everyone but this whole case is a travesty! I’m not racist by any means but if the tables were turned do u think there would be this much media coverage?? No!!!!! If a black guy killed a white guy there would not be this type of a reaction & all this world wide coverage. Murder is wrong no matter race, gender or anything but everyone wants to turn this into a racial issue & that needs to stop!! It’s always about the African Americans & repression & racism & Jesse Jackson is always involved with Al Sharpton & it’s like ok enough is enough!! I understand the African Americans suffered through slavery & racism but what about every other race?? Is everyone else exempt??!! I live In Chicago & the crime here is so High guess where all this happening?? On the south side & the blacks r killing their own people!! Does this make any sense?? Not to me!! The percentage of

Trayvon is always described as “an unarmed black teenager” and never “attempted murderer.” Liberals have brainwashed themselves of that fact.

And now the black community will vent their rage over Trayvon being profiled as violent & criminal because he’s black by becoming violent & criminal.

  37. CPAguy

Zimmerman was an idiot. Guilty of recklessness, sure. But not murder.

  38. CPAguy
    July 14th, 2013 @ 12:24 am

    No rage is being vented.

To the protests of the media…lol…

Hilarious to watch Geraldo try to bait Juan Williams into some type of conflict. Williams who generally believed that the right verdict was made given the charge.

It is a media circus, which isn’t quite as based in reality as an actual circus.

MARKET-TICKER [dot] ORG says it best for me:

“There was no “civil rights violation.” Trayvon Martin was beating the hell out of George Zimmerman when he was shot in lawful self-defense.

That is what the jury found.

That is what The Sanford Police Chief found — and he was fired for determining the facts.

That is what The State attempted to unlawfully obstruct from coming into public view, including firing the IT director who blew the whistle on intentional failure to turn over exculpatory evidence to the defense.

But the jury saw through the ruse, saw through the race-baiting and saw a man who was being beaten by a stronger, more-agile man, that George Zimmerman could not at that time retreat, and who therefore had every right to defend himself — and he did exactly that.

Now I want to see the members of the media who intentionally edited video footage so as to present a false view of what happened sued to beyond the orbit of Mars and then nuked from orbit – just to be sure.

Now I want to see the State prosecutorial apparatus — and the Department of Justice — that turned what was a routine self-defense circumstance into an attempted railroading of a man who was sucker-punched, mounted and then beaten “MMA style” by attempting to throw him in jail when he was the victim indicted, prosecuted and imprisoned for that crap.

Now let’s see the rest of the job get done: Justice for George Zimmerman
