Shorter Ryan: I’m Gonna Kick Tomorrow

It maybe be that Paul Ryan sincerely believes that Congress is EVER going to reduce spending of its own volition. In the same vein, Obama has stated that he believes his own BS. Gently as it can be put, Paul, CONSERVATIVES DO NOT. We don’t believe Obama. While some might be swayed by you confident tones, the last time a Congress successfully bound a subsequent Congress was when the follow-on Congress borrowed more money, not when that future Congress actually cut spending. All I can say is that, sometimes, you need to step away from the problem to gain some perspective.
Erick Erickson calls this budget deal the BOHICA Act of 2013.

I am old enough to remember when the GOP said not to worry about it caving on Obamacare funding because, by God, it would hold the line on sequestration.
Hell, that was a month ago.
Amazing how much can change in a month. Congressman Paul Ryan and Senator Patty Murray have decided to give up the last thing the GOP was fighting for — spending restraint. “Don’t worry,” Paul Ryan says with his boyish charm designed to induce sweats and heart palpitations among conservatives, “it’s only a little less restrained.”
The budget deal puts discretionary spending over $1 trillion, which is higher than the sequestration deal of 2011, which was at $967. This is, in fact, a spending increase.
It funds Obamacare.

It gets worse as you read RedState from there.
New rule: all talk of future spending cuts is rejected, in advance, as pure hooey. Don’t bother with it, Paul. No amount of poker face, boyish good looks, and irresistible masculine charm can sell something we know is fundamentally not gonna happen. Peddle those wares to a more gullible audience.
Going with this Jane’s Addiction cut, since “Been Caught Stealing” is probably too pejorative, if also more accurate.

Paul expects the entire electorate to be low info voters. To the ruling party we’re all idiots. There have certainly been enough idiots to keep electing the likes of Ryan, alas.

You’re better off drinking rot gut whiskey than reading Red State.

Of course it is a bad deal! What the heck did you expect?

Boehner and Cantor were going to pass the “clean CR” in September which would have etched the sequester cuts in stone for another full year and another baseline for the future (meaning residual restraint from now on by lowering the base). But the Cruz cultists stampeded the House GOP into the nonsensical and counterproductive shutdown, resulting in short term deal instead.

This gave the Democrats another crack at breaking sequester, which was their main goal. They threw in the unemployment extension so they had something to give up instead.

If only someone had warned us of this! Oh, wait, many did, including myself, but the cultists would not listen.

And now our predictions have come to pass exactly, and yet you are all surprised. Go figure.

No sane person believes Congress will do anything to actually decrease federal spending.

Of course, that leaves out virtually everyone in Congress…

If I was in charge of these republican ass clowns, I would be organizing anti-Obamacare protests all over the country. I would bring all kinds of heat against those demonrat bastards. I would set up a website where people who lost their health insurance could post Youtube videos of the damage that Obamacare has wrought in their life. THEN, I would begin budget negotiations. I am not buying into the theory that republicans are simply weak, stupid, or afraid. The Patriot Act gives Obama and his demons full access to every phone call, every tweet, every website visited by every republican in the senate and congress. I wonder how many of them he has over a barrel. Maybe this is why Marco Rubio would flip 180 degrees on a dime over immigration. Does anyone believe that the great liar wouldn’t use every possible weapon at hand to manipulate his enemies?

Or we could make into law the piecemeal legislation that the House did on the previous government shutdown. If the Dems refused it, the Repubs could put it on record that they tried to push the piecemeal legislation w/c could have helped the agencies in need of help while the shutdown negotiations continue but the Dems refused to even consider it.

If such a legislation passed under any budget deal w/ the Dems, then both the Dems and the Repubs could go on negotiating in good faith without each one using the shutdown boogeyman to prove each other’s point.”

…So Ryan “taking one for the team” yet again and lending his name to yet another spending increase is Ted Cruz’ fault?
Darn that Cruz and his magical mind-control powers! Darn him, for making the RINO Ruling Class push yet another spending increase!
If only he had not stood up, Boehner and Ryan would have done something they had never ever done before and held the line on spending, right?
