It’s Completely Out of Control Now

Having previously noted a guy who got fired — fired! — for a Tweet — a Tweet! — now we can report that a black Christian minister may lose his day job in California because of his sermons:

Pasadena city officials placed Public Health Director Eric Walsh on temporary paid administrative leave Thursday after they learned of controversial statements he had made about homosexuality and evolution in online videos and audio clips.
In sermons uploaded to various websites, Walsh, a Seventh-day Adventist preacher, calls evolution “a religion created by Satan,” compares Disney to a “dark empire” of superstition and witchcraft, and criticizes homosexuality.
Walsh’s comments came to the city’s attention after he replaced Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black as Pasadena City College’s commencement speaker, said city spokesman William Boyer.
College officials said they replaced Black because they found stolen photographs of him and an ex-boyfriend engaged in sexual acts on Internet gossip sites, according to the school newspaper, the PCC Courier.
“With the porno professor and the sex scandals we’ve had on campus this last year, it just didn’t seem like the right time for Mr. Black to be the speaker,” PCC Board of Trustees President Anthony Fellow told the Courier.
Fellow was referring to former professor Hugo Schwyzer, who invited adult film stars to speak in a class on pornography and admitted to affairs with his students.
In a letter to the school newspaper, Black accused college administrators of attempting to shame him for his sexuality. He urged students to speak out, and soon a member of the group Students for Social Justice found some of Walsh’s videos online.
“We very quickly realized that there were a lot of communities that would be offended by Dr. Walsh,” said Sarah Belknap, a fourth-year student and member of Students for Social Justice.
The group compiled a list of Walsh’s controversial public statements, then published excerpts on Facebook and emailed them to media outlets.
“We were just so shocked that he was saying these things,” said Kelly Camacho, another student in the group. “This was even worse, to have this person as [Black’s] replacement, of all people.”

“Of all people”! In case you don’t know, Dustin Lance Black’s name has been mentioned in connection with the Hollywood pedophile scandal swirling around X-Men director Bryan Singer. Just “mentioned,” I say, and any suspicion of criminal activity is only a matter of allegations at this point. However, a notorious fondness for gay sex with teenage boys is less controversial in California now than, say, being a Christian who believes that homosexuality is a sin.

Obviously, “Students for Social Justice” prefers the boy-banging Hollywood guy to the black Christian preacher and, in raising a ruckus about it, managed to get the black guy suspended from his job — yeah, that’s a big win for “Social Justice” there.

My prediction, denying “climate change” will soon be treated as worse than Holocaust denial (and will be a firing offense from most large corporate and public employers).

    And thanks for the link!

To put matters at its bluntest, their diplomacy is the derivative of what decrepit political theorists postulated more than one hundred years ago: from which it follows as no surprise that the associated applied theories has been – and in places remains – what it sometimes is. As subjects for incredulity go, this is a peach.

You know, firing a public employee over religious issues is still a very bad idea in this country.

So what a Christian pastor says is far more egregious than a pederast? I predict it will get worse.

Unfortunately the pederast is the more reasonable of the two and doesn’t live in a conspiratorial fantasy land where science and theme parks are the work of Satan.

This is all an attack on the church. Once the church is destroyed or driven underground, and government officials discover sex for procreation, there won’t be any gay rights, or free speech rights for anyone.

Yesterday, the story was that a Nazi school teacher was suspended and likely to be fired. When I made the point that if we accepted that, we would be soon facing the same logic being applied to other kinds of speech, I had no idea that I would be proved right so soon.

Are you mainly saying “Screw You” to google, or do you also have a problem with Glass?

Since Glass is just tech that is already in smartphones, I’m not getting where all the hate is coming from. I had kind of an impression it was mostly coming from lefties, but I really haven’t been paying very much attention to the issue.

I have multiple science degrees and 30+ years experience as a scientist and analyst, and I can confirm that evolution is not science, and is in fact a religion. Because of the assumptions one must make to be an evolution religion believer, more faith is required than for Judeo/Christianity. If you did your due diligence, rather than simply taking the word of evolution religionists, you would know this.

As for being the work of Satan, it is. If you did your due diligence on supernatural activity, you would know this, too.

Instead, you willingly blind yourself in the name of political correctness. Don’t you know that one day, very soon, there will be a day of reckoning, and you will be on the wrong side of it?

Maybe because one is conjecture (zero proof.. you do understand what rumour is?) and the other is video taped hate speech. Why should someone, who hates what a good number of the students at that school are, speak at their graduation? Common sense people. It isn’t because he is black any more than the filmmaker being gay. It has to do with the public messages both have sent and the need for a speaker who represents the most possible without hate, scandal, discrimination or bilious commentary.

There’s a distinct constitutional provision that would render it impermissible in the federal government. We’ve heard much since 1925 about how the 14th Amendment supposedly ‘incorporates’ into the Constitution obligations on state and local government. How much you want to bet the public interest bar concocts an excuse not to do so in these sorts of cases.

    1. Formally, she withdrew her acceptance.
    2. The youths had little to do with it; it was their rancid faculty who objected, not because she offered a different viewpoint (commencements are seldom an occasion for political speeches if the speaker is tasteful) but because their rancid faculty is of the view that association with a Republican administration renders one properly untouchable.
    3. The faculty buggers are begging for a caucus of sense in the state legislature to reconstitute Rutgers as a holding company for a selection of professional schools (IT, engineering, agriculture and husbandry, medicine, pharmacy, public health, public policy, urban planning, business, and athletics) and put the rest of them in the unemployment line.

I like to think of references to “social justice” as being hate speech.

I hate the fact that entire collections of books have been written about it, and entire degree programs exist for it, yet it has no actual meaning.
