Ventura was not a SEAL, he was UDT. There is no shame in that in the least. The bar was just as high for UDT as it was for the SEALs. There were many who went through BUD-R rather than BUD-S who ended up in SEAL teams, and vice versa. I don’t expect CBS to understand the nuances, however.

I know the real issue here is that Jesse sued a war widow and that his reputation will suffer more as the guy who sued the widow of a war hero than anything Chris Kyle said. But who is actually right about the account of Jesse saying the things he’s accused of and Kyle’s punch to his face? Jesse says one thing, Kyle says another. How did the jury know who was telling the truth?

Agreed. I honor the man for his service, but pretty much everything he’s done since stepping down as Governor of Minnesota makes me want to throat-punch him.

There appear to be plenty of witnesses who corroborated Kyle’s version of events, as RSM mentions in his post, supra.

Then how did the jury find in Ventura’s favor? If the witnesses’ testimony prove it happened, they find in Kyle’s favor. If the jury decides witnesses are not proof then they’re back to he said/she said and they acquit, again in Kyle’s favor. I’m not understanding the verdict under the circumstances.

I know what you mean. I’d choose staking him out on a mound of fire ants and setting up a video camera to record the fun, but that’s just me.

Bet I’d make a mint off the DVDs though.
