Does Anyone Know Why We Have A Debt Ceiling?

If the Democrats want to keep raising the debt limit, as with this $1.9T proposal, then what is the point of having one?

The national debt either:

  • Has some meaning other than the obvious one for the common people,
  • Has already snuffed us, so WTF?,
  • Is problematic, but the country is in the very best of hands, so be patient,
  • None of the ‘experts’ have clue #1.

If the Tuesday election of Brown is any indication, it’s option #2 or #4.

This only empowers the Fed by telling them to print more fiat currency.

We have a debt ceiling so that the tax-and-spenders on both sides of the aisle have cover.

We have debt so that politicians can buy your vote with unsustainable programs like Social Security, Medicare, compulsory government education, etc, etc…ad nauseum.

Q: What does your grandkid do when you hand him a $13 Trillion+ credit card bill after living the high life for 90 years?

A: He pulls the plug on you
