Hey, Howard Kurtz: Any Anonymous Fox News Employees Dissing Geraldo Rivera?

Posted on | March 16, 2010 | 16 Comments

Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post had a column yesterday in which he allowed anonymous Fox News employees to portray Glenn Beck as a liability to the network who “undermines their credibility.” To which I responded at the Hot Air Green Room:

OK, so Beck can be wrong and when he’s wrong, it looks bad for Fox News. On the other hand . . . Geraldo Rivera.
Why am I suspicious that Geraldo is among those “Fox journalists” most worried about Beck’s impact on their “credibility”?

You can read the rest of that. After I posted it, I got an e-mail from a reader:

I just read your article, Success, Envy and Glenn Beck and found the Geraldo digs extremely amusing. . . .
I met Geraldo when I was sixteen (am now 39). He was the featured speaker at our local MADD conference, and I was a SADD delegate from my highschool. Nancy Reagan was supposed to be the featured speaker, but alas, cancer surgery, so we were stuck with Geraldo. He walked into the Cajun Dome (Lafayette, LA) with escorted by State Troopers. Into a MADD conference. Because, y’know…those crazed anti-drunk driving mothers… He then proceeded to talk. And talk. And talk. Mostly about himself. It started to all sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher after a while, but I am fairly certain he talked about his past drug and alcohol use. I know he lectured the attending students about staying clean, which highly ticked us off. I mean, hey, we were the SADD delegates. Idiot. So, I got to meet him in person, and he came across as a total ass. But I got my picture in the paper with him, so not the total loss.
My opinion of him has not changed. When he comes on television, I switch channels. If you ever meet him, please tell him I remember meeting him, and that I watch Glenn Beck.

Sincerely,
Susan

Thanks, Susan.

RoboShep is a big reason why I don’t watch the Fox News Channel much anymore. Him and Body O’dor.

I am not a big fan of Beck’s TV show. I watched it a few times and did not like it. I occasionally listen to him on the radio, where he is much better, but even then that is only occasionally. Beck is hardly Rush or Levin on policy issues in depth or substance, but Beck is still far more right than wrong on the issues.

I like Beck. He’s out there. He take’s risks. Thus, he sometimes shoots… and misses. He’s like an incredible quarterback that moves the ball down field with panache and daring, but occasionally throws a stupid interception.
Not enough bad things could ever be said to do Geraldo justice. What a putz.
I love Rush, but he sat on his formerly ample behind all through the Bush years and did not really make clear that the Republicans were taking the country in the same wrong direction as the Democrats.
Beck named that direction, Progressivism, and hammers the point home regularly.

Anonymous just kills credibility. But if it were true, probably the first on the list is Dumbass O’reily,Shep Smith, herralldough(couldn’t be a bigger fool)Jane Skinner….No matter if Glenn Beck annoys some people he has it right on the nail head.
