Lisa Murkowski is as consumed with pathological narcissism as her worst enemies said? She’s listening to demented Palin-haters like Andrew Halcro and John Bitney?
Ace is mocking the rumor/not-a-rumor, but trying to run as a write-in when your name is “Murkowski” is an epic case of mind-boggling stupid:
U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski has decided to run as a write-in candidate in the November election, according to an e-mail from a campaign supporter. And a Murkowski cousin, Mary Gore, wrote on her Facebook page today that Murkowski will announce her continued candidacy in Anchorage this afternoon.
On the bright side? This ought to silence all Republican criticism of Christine O’Donnell’s campaign. Hell’s bells, Charlie Crist has a better chance of winning in Florida than Lisa Murkowski has in Alaska — and Charlie’s got no chance at all.
UPDATE: Dan Fagan of the Alaska Standard:
Just as Frank and Lisa Murkowski put their own interests ahead of the nation’s eight years ago with nepotism, Lisa will once again put political ambition ahead of love for country.
Your television screen will reveal to you something very important today. . . .
Take a close look at those standing behind Murkowski. You will be looking into the eyes of establishment Republicans desperately trying to hold onto our country’s big government, special interest ways. The Murkowski live news conference will reveal to us those in the party who probably never were conservatives.
“Probably”? There are a lot of opportunists in the GOP, “Professional Republicans” whose partisanship is a function of career interest. Perhaps they’ve been in the game so long they can no longer distinguish between political principle and personal ambition, but they certainly never let the former get in the way of the latter.
Bright side? They’re falling like dominoes now: Arlen Specter, Dede Scozzafava, Charlie Crist, Bob Bennett, Bob Inglis, Mike Castle . . . and now, as Doug Brady points out, Alaska Sen. Veruca Salt:
I don’t think the issue is (or should be) her last name. The only issue should be is she such a good (or bad) candidate.
As last names go at least it is possible to spell it correctly based on hearing it.

This is how Lisa is going to realize that she really did truly lose the election

It is stuff like this that shows these people are obsessed with power. Jeez louise, Lisa could play nice, lose with grace, and go make a ton of bucks in Anchorage. She has the connections, being an ex Senator (provided you do not get charged with any crimes) is valuable marketing tool even in this very poor jobs market. And if Miller screws up, she could run again for the next Senate seat that opens up, or Governor, or something else.
So this song is for Lisa.

I find this sad. Her service is no longer required by the voters. Accept it and move on. It just proves the point of the tea party movement, they think they are entitled.
Off topic guys:
We are doing at I read the constitution event tomorrow afternoon at 1 at the Old Town City Hall on King. It should be fun!!

The only reason why I think she could be doing this is to spite Joe Miller and, by proxy, Sarah Palin..
There isn’t much love lost between them.

Don’t knock Veruca Salt. That was a pretty cool band back in the ’90s.

Heartbreak!
Don’t do it Doug, back the guy who can beat Owens. We do not need Owens winning again.
What? Another big government moderate who feels the will of the little people doesn’t matter?
I’m shocked.

This couldn’t come at a better time for Palin and DeMint – right after Delaware. More justification for defeating Castle. Rove and Krauthammer will look even worse now defending these establishment candidates.
Now, what Palin and DeMint should do is put even more pressure on the establishment by DEMANDING that the Republican Senate Caucus take a vote next week to kick Murkowski out of the Republican Caucus and make a public statement that if Murkowski and/or Crist are elected that the Republicans will not allow these traitors to caucus with them, and they will HAVE to caucus with the Democrats. This will force the Republican Senate Caucus to put principle above power!

I’ll call McConnell Monday and demand that he call the caucus together the minute the Senate comes back, strip her of her leadership positions, seniority, and any chairmanships, and move her sorry butt into the worst office available for her final couple of months in office.
She could have gone out in style by using the spotlight of this presser to endorse Miller unequivocally, but that would have required a level of character and humility this woman apparently lacks.

But I think reality is going to bite her. I put the over/under on her actual write-in vote at 5%.

There should be no bigger electoral priority for conservatives this cycle than crushing her and her fellow slimebag Crist.
Rubio is looking in good shape in the latter regard, so I hope we can pull off this one.

Here’s the thing. They’re not going to go without a fight. It’s going to be ugly. They’re going to fight with everything they have to keep their cushy jobs and they’re going to fight dirty. It’s going to be a long battle and it’s going to be tough and we are going to have to stay strong and fight back if we want to win this. Those who have had a taste of aristocracy are not going to fade away quietly.

This could get interesting now that the “anti-establishment” shoe is on the other foot.

@Tom,

Rob,
Yes, it’s an “I want power ego trip.” That’s generally the case with anyone seeking a US Senate seat with a rational expectation of getting it.
The fact remains that Joe Miller is now the GOP establishment and Murkowski is now the write-in insurgent. And I think that could get interesting.

I’m sure there are some people in AZ who could convince J.D. Hayworth to now run as a write-in. Let’s make this thing a battle royal. I mean, do we really want McCain as the 51st GOP Senator, what good will that do? I would also like the GOP to just pro-actively boot Olympia Snowe out tomorrow as well. You know her defection is coming, why not fire the shot?
