#OWS Protesters Attempt to Storm AFP Defending the American Dream Summit

“Occupy DC” protesters just attempted to force their way into the Washington Convention Center where the Americans for Prosperity Foundation is holding its Ronald Reagan tribute dinner for the “Defending the American Dream Summit.” I was in the middle of the scrum of smelly hippies when they stormed the doors and have multiple photos and video which I’m uploading now.

UPDATE II: A couple of AFP supporters who were attending the dinner and had stepped outside to watch the protesters marching, got caught in the mob when the protesters rushed the doors:

So you have the sights and sounds of “civil disobedience,” and are fortunately spared the smell.

  2. I remember watching an interview with one guy in charge of the #Occupy DC and he was wanting the camp area to secede from the US.. 

    As if #ODC was it’s own separate entity..

    Does this mean they are invading another country?

  37. I know exactly why they are protesting: because they’re too stupid to realize that Copperheads tanked the financial system by starting Fannie, Freddie, et al and then preventing reform efforts proposed by Bush and filibustered by Copperheads in 2001, 2003, and 2005.

    In my household, the response to an invasion of a dinner party would have been epic and wildly unpleasant for the invaders.

    They are fortunate that the diners were not my guests.

I was there….and it’s important to note that I am NOT part of the upper 1% of the financial world.  Hell…I am not even in the top 50!  I just want a government that doesn’t tell me what I do with the few dollars I DO have.   We had just stepped outside after finishing our dinner.  What you don’t hear in the video is the scary guy on the microphone attempting to insight the crowd even more.  He was telling the crowd that we (attendees of the summit) “Hate you.  Hate your babies.  They hate your dogs.  They hate your plants.  They steal the food out of your babies mouths.” Which only caused these losers to become more insane.  You also can’t hear the people blocking the intersection on the side of the building chanting weird phrases together like  mindless drones.  Unfortunately, my mother and I were not close to the doors when the crowd mobbed the building so we were not able to get assistance back into the building.  We were able to see the police do NOTHING to protect us (two women who know NOTHING about how to navigate DC) or the others that were now locked outside with people intent on causing us harm.  Once we were actually able to get into the building and reconnect with OUR loved ones…we were told to avoid the doors as to not “agitate” the protestors.  Are you kidding me?  Within minutes the protestors had surrounded the building…were HITTING the building so hard that the floors were actually shaking and they were not allowing people (who paid to be there, by the way) to leave.  These psychos were actually sitting in front of the doors physically holding them closed…essentially denying us OUR right to move around the country WE pay taxes to maintain.  Isn’t that a form of hostage taking?  Ironically, we were told that should we try to exit and push one of those worthless losers out of the way, WE would be breaking the law.   I had my rights denied so the smellies outside could share their unorganized babble. It was ridiculous, scary and a giant statement to me about how I need to start working harder to educate my friends/fellow Americans about how we are losing all sensibility in this country.  DO NOT BE FOOLED:  THESE “OCCUPIERS” ARE NOT PEACEFUL; THEY ARE NOT EDUCATED; AND THEY WANT TO TAKE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE W/O DOING ANYTHING TO EARN IT.

  48. There is a level at which I simply point out that this is a predictable consequence.

    Lois McMaster Bujold pointed out that, when you choose an action, you choose the consequences of that action. If you want different consequences, you must choose different actions.

    What is a driver supposed to assume, when the car is being pounded on, exactly? Rather than wait for a frenzied mob (which is what it would seem like) to drag the driver out and beat him to death (remember Reginald Denny?), any driver with a sense of self-preservation is going to drive through.

    It resembles as closely as makes no difference a self-inflicted wound on the part of those pounding on the cars, don’t you think?
