#OWS Protesters Attempt to Storm AFP Defending the American Dream Summit

WASHINGTON, D.C.
“Occupy DC” protesters just attempted to force their way into the Washington Convention Center where the Americans for Prosperity Foundation is holding its Ronald Reagan tribute dinner for the “Defending the American Dream Summit.” I was in the middle of the scrum of smelly hippies when they stormed the doors and have multiple photos and video which I’m uploading now.

UPDATE: Smelly hippies chant “We are the 99%” while attempting to force their way into the building:

UPDATE II: A couple of AFP supporters who were attending the dinner and had stepped outside to watch the protesters marching, got caught in the mob when the protesters rushed the doors:

You can see Michelle Fields, a video producer for the Daily Caller, next to the policeman.

UPDATE III: Another brief video showing the chanting frenzied mob:

So you have the sights and sounds of “civil disobedience,” and are fortunately spared the smell.

UPDATE IV: Welcome, Instapundit readers! It’s stuff like this that makes you nostalgic for the Good Old Days of real police brutality.

UPDATE V: After the storm-the-doors stunt, the smelly hippies deployed to block adjacent street corners and chant stupid slogans:

A Republican consultant (who shall not be named) said: “I’ve never seen so many losers in my life.” Truly, it was LoserFest 2011.

  1. I was watching the live stream, and I was very fearful for you and all attendees.  Glad you are OK, and not too terribly shaken.

  2. I proofread, I can’t help it.

The scary guy with the microphone was trying to incite, not “insight” the crowd. The word chosen (insight) would imply he was trying to enlighten and meditatively (at least possibly) uplift the crowd’s consciousness.

I know you were simply writing, and I’m being pedantic, but I really can’t help it.

  3. Actually they are protesting everything, and I don’t think they’ll be knocking on doors for the SDs next fall.

  4. In the second video did I hear someone say that they had a right to enter the hotel? Talk about a sense of entitlement!

  5. They were not going to contribute, either monetarily or in pleasure for the other guests. From where I stand – and I’m by no means inhospitable! – that tends to militate against their inclusion on the guest list.

In other words, they had no right to be there.

    You’re right. Pathetic.

  6. hahaha….actually I am glad that you noticed  and corrected it.  I thought it looked weird but I was in such a hurry to get my thoughts out about the experience  I failed to go back and proofread.  Knowledge is power…and you just gave me a little bit more.  Thanks! 🙂

  7. Do we let them read Cody Lundin’s books first, or just dump ’em in what they stand up in? I ask because if they actually pay attention to the books, they might, by application, learn something, and attain the ability to be an asset to society.

  8. Glad you made it out okay.  Once even a peaceful group is roiled into a mob, anyone can become a target for its rage.  The authorities should be called to account for allowing this lawlessness to go on as it has for as long as it has.

  9. I believe the unthinking & ignorant is directed at you folks in the Donner Party.
As for being able to storm the place, why didn’t they, clearly they wanted to get inside and as I remarked above I think I heard a couple people in the second video say that they had a right to. Conviction need more conviction. For the vanguard of the revolution to allow allow themselves to be thwarted by a couple guys, sad very sad.

  10. The DC Police must have have really gone down hill, maybe their crowd control and SWAT folks still got it. No matter how cops feel about the protesters they usually don’t like disorder they can get hurt that way, and if someone else does they look incompetent. I blame the District government who still rely on congress for much of their funding.

It’s not too late to repeal home rule.

  11. Well don’t  hold back, if you know ‘why this “movement” arose and what they are protesting’ then by all means lay it out in black and white.

Because tossing insults while offering no substance is not only hopeless, it is pointless.

  12. We were once asked – and demonstrated epic mayhem, without once going to firearms.

For the record, I demonstrated what, precisely, can be done with a largish cutting board, from behind and above, to an invader coming up the stairs.

No one could call it excessive force, either.

  13. Well, then he needs to lose the tie, too, unbutton the top three buttons on his shirt, get a peace sign medallion and a leather vest.  And maybe Earth Shoes.

Or he could just not change clothes or bathe for three weeks – like the trick they used in Atlanta in The Walking Dead, smearing zombie parts all over them to cover the scent of the living.

  14. They aren’t called “useful idiots” for nothing..  but  in the end, their useful idiot efforts, will be for not..  as they, and their behind the scenes financial and political supporters of  Soros, Obama, Van Jones, the Media, Michael Moore, etc. and so on,  will lose everything in the end, their political positions, their power, their money, their influence, everything.

  15. I have a son and daughter. One is with DHS, the other is a cop. In their worlds, a very good day is one in which no officer has to point a gun at *anyone* for any reason. Frankly, not one of these losers is worth having my kids or their colleagues shoot a dirty look at, far less anything even remotely lethal. Law enforcement is struggling enough with these idiots already. Please don’t wish on them all that would accompany the use of “deadly force.”

  16. Seems like one way to disrupt the disrupters would be to puncture that drum head, or at least respond with counter-drumming, maybe very very loud Beethoven Sym. #5.  Or Wagner.  To quote vanderleun, “Their teeth would catch fire.”

  17. I wouldn’t go that far, but if any of those assholes ever step up in front of my car they’ll damn sure get their asses splattered like a bug. I won’t just keep driving slowly either, I’ll put the pedal to the metal. As far as I’m concerned its a clear case of self-defense, including the part where I drive the hell off from the scene.
