Give Thanks to … Charles Johnson?

Posted on | November 27, 2011 | 89 Comments

The terminal stage of narcissistic personality order:

Happy Thanksgiving to all LGF readers.
On this day, I’d like to thank 2007 me, who woke up and realized that the “counter-jihad” bloggers were in truth a bunch of bigots and fascists. And I’d also like to thank the 2009 me, who realized that the Republican Party was dangerously off the rails, and publicly jumped off their runaway right wing train. . . .

Diary of Daedalus has more, for those readers whose reaction to such news is, “Oh, you mean Little Green Footballs is still online?”

If you didn’t discover the blogosphere until after 2007, of course, your reaction is probably, “Charles Who?”

He used to be somebody important, believe it or not.

    I did a “Charles who?”

Re: Frum — This from @iowahawkblog:disqus : “David Frum threatening to quit the GOP is like Dr. Smith threatening to quit the crew of Lost In Space.”

Charles Johnson is thankful for VALIS, and the enlightenment it brings.

I bet I could scare the GOP more than Frum did (with that threat), by threatening to join.

About David Frum:  Once you’ve endorsed Obama haven’t you pretty much given up all your credibility?   What claim can he or Noonan or Brooks have to being a Republican at all now?

You know with an incentive like that I could vote for Newt Gingrich after all……

Any chance we could get Meghan McCain to join in on that deal?

I used to stop by his site every day, once he’d gotten the scoop on Rathergate (damn “gates,” anyway) and was getting good at exposing “Pallywood.”

He talked a conservative-ish line, but then he started bashing people for wanting to teach an alternative to Darwinism in schools.  It’s like believing in liberty and demanding women wear the hijab, all at the same time.  That kind of intellectual inconsistency breaks down the ability to reason.

His downhill slide became more of a fall off a cliff.  Once the bannings began, I never went back there on purpose (I hope you bloggers have all got sense not to link the guy).  I think it’s been over three years since I removed his site from all my bookmarks.

Johnson’s posts and comments are more likely to be about his enemies list, his hate mail, and his feuds with others, he spends his time on his comments threads hunting down his readers, taunting until he can let loose with both barrels – or he did, until he banned everyone in sight – for speaking, for reading, for lurking, for updinging, for downdinging, for using his search function, for reading and commenting at other blogs, for linking to other blogs – it’s beyond comical – it will someday be the topic of many a psych student’s thesis. Those readers/commenters he has left are the well-trained/MichealVickwouldbeproud/whipped dogs that didn’t have enough pride to leave.

CJ probably did you more good than harm in the long run. I know I hadn’t heard much about you, and didn’t think much about you, until I realized “Charles has really lost it” and figured “if he’s so backwards on everything else, maybe this RSM dude is worth reading.” And that was when I bookmarked your site and started checking it regularly. He probably gave you a serious boost in your profile when he went all wiggy.

How can you give up that which you never had?

It’s one of those philosophical conundrums.  Somebody better call Ezra Klein.  Better still, somebody order him 300 pizzas.

He did good work tracking the islamists and their Western enablers for a few years back before the long-term effects of habitually sniffing his own bicycle seat proved to include permanent brain damage.

But his only contribution to the whole Rathergate fraud story was the animated GIF file juxtaposing the document posted as evidence and a similar one created on MS Word.  It made it very easy for anyone to see the problem with the document.  He did no other work of significance on that story of which I am aware.  Most of the real work was done by Freepers and PowerLine.

For sheer exuberant escapism, nobody beats the esteemed Philip K Dick:

    The VALIS trilogy

& UBIK — the book that unzips your assumptions in a banana-peeling manner,
leaving only the raw and vulnerable pulp, exposed as-it-is, naked to
    cosmic rays.

Those books are solid ‘teaching analogies’ in the form of stories which any true stoner will resonate cosmically with, so to speak.

UBIK and VALIS represent Dick’s astonishing ability to write with both economy and incredible density of information. This is a rare talent indeed, which few if any other authors seem to possess. This talent shows mainly in his full-length novels, of which there are about 52, of which The Transmigration Timothy Archer was his last work.

Another enjoyable author is Michael Morecock; I recommend his ‘Cornelius Chronicles’, which begins with a depiction of enraged peasants storming Castle Cornelius, only to be stunned into paralysis by the defensive Hallucinomats mounted on the ramparts.

David Frum threatens to leave GOP if anyone other than Romney or Huntsman get the nomination.

This headline surprised me. I was not aware that Frum was still a Republican. But, maybe he and David Brooks, and Charles Johnson can form a new party more to their liking? I even have a name for them, The Little Green Footballs Party. Or perhaps the Over-Inflated Egos Party
It is sad that Johnson got so full of himself, that, well, he destroyed himself. http://thedaleygator.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/excuse-me-but-didnt-you-used-to-be-charles-johnson/

This blog post is just more stalking behavior by someone who is actually quite ill, and doesn’t know it. I suppose most stalkers don’t know that they are ill, or they wouldn’t be stalkers. It’s sick, psychopathic behavior, and now followed by some long drawn out absurb justifications, which he probably believes are true.

A person who is being stalked is wise to have nothing to do with the stalker. That just encourages them. They crave any type of contact even if it is negative. Yuck, yuck and double yuck!

There’s a distinction between being famous and notorious.

Chuckles was more notorious than anything else.

Notice how bigots always miss their own bigotry and have an epiphany when they can point it out in others.

I think he realized that his blog was getting away from him. That the members were becoming more famous than himself and being respected for themselves and not for being members of his blog.

His “conservatism” was a very thin layer regardless. It didn’t take much to scrape it off.

He’s now been a dickhead as long as he was “hero” so he’s back to where he started from; a liberal with a self inflated opinion of his opinions.

“he started bashing people for wanting to teach an alternative to Darwinism in schools.”

That alternative to “it’s caused by natural phenomena” – which alternative comes immediately to mind?

I can’t help but sense that you would NOT recommend that Turkish schools, say, teach their own popular “alternative to Darwinism”.
