Love her or no (and I do), the little FaceBook page that rocked Obama continues to harry his Ruling Class ilk:
But this whole thing isn’t really about Newt Gingrich vs. Mitt Romney. It is about the GOP establishment vs. the Tea Party grassroots and independent Americans who are sick of the politics of personal destruction used now by both parties’ operatives with a complicit media egging it on. In fact, the establishment has been just as dismissive of Ron Paul and Rick Santorum. Newt is an imperfect vessel for Tea Party support, but in South Carolina the Tea Party chose to get behind him instead of the old guard’s choice. In response, the GOP establishment voices denounced South Carolinian voters with the same vitriol we usually see from the left when they spew hatred at everyday Americans “bitterly clinging” to their faith and their Second Amendment rights. The Tea Party was once again told to sit down and shut up and listen to the “wisdom” of their betters. We were reminded of the litany of Tea Party endorsed candidates in 2010 who didn’t win. Well, here’s a little newsflash to the establishment: without the Tea Party there would have been no historic 2010 victory at all.
I spoke up before the South Carolina primary to urge voters there to keep this primary going because I have great concern about the GOP establishment trying to anoint a candidate without the blessing of the grassroots and all the needed energy and resources we as commonsense constitutional conservatives could bring to the general election in order to defeat President Obama. Now, I respect Governor Romney and his success. But there are serious concerns about his record and whether as a politician he consistently applied conservative principles and how this impacts the agenda moving forward.
Romney went on about the Olympics in the Jacksonville debate. Does he view the Presidency as the ultimate sporting competition, his own personal gold medal? Is this something he feels he needs to do to prove something to somebody?
With Barack, one doesn’t feel there are any motives at work other than love of power and disdain for American exceptionalism.
With Bush, Newt, Santorum, or even, yes, Paul, one feels some genuine American spirit at work. With Romney, it’s not quite clear. He doesn’t seem diabolical like Barack, but, then, what? Sarah brings that unease forward deftly, but not insultingly. Read the whole thing.
In any case, all of the back-and-forth is truly a feature, not a bug. If conservatives put forth a candidate that inspires, everyone gets behind him. If Romney prevails, everyone still gets behind him, except a tiny fringe of total goofballs, and Romney understands where the will of the people is. If Mitt is indeed a well-oiled weather vane, then what matters is ensuring the wind blows all conservative, all the time.

Also, via American Glob, Sarah Palin applauds the election-year rectal sunshine that #OccupyResoluteDesk offered during the SOTU on Stossel. A great exchange. Sarah Palin offers some qualified support to Ron Paul.
Stacy McCain hates him some what-ifs. But what if Ron Paul were to bring in Sarah as a VP candidate? She also takes a swipe at Peggy Noonan for calling Newt an ‘attack muffin’. Sadly missing from the exchange: Rick Santorum. I’m not sure how the NotMittRomney statue of Legos is constructed, but I hope Santorum has a place in there.
Between Newt’s national greatness vision, Santorum’s social conservative character, and Paul’s fiscal sanity, you have the ingredients that Reagan was able to bring together. One hopes those three can get together, have coffee, and forge some sort of positive alliance, for the good of the country.
Or not. I’m just a voice in the chorus, and have a strong record of predicting the future through advocating what won’t occur.
On a related note, via Lucianne, the Politico seems to think Sarah is a ‘secret’ weapon. That’s about as secret as #OccupyResoluteDesk’s socialism, isn’t it?
Update: Daily Pundit is on record as being totally anti-Mitt:
Although I likely won’t end up doing that, because that tiny fringe of total goofballs is probably going to be large enough to see Mittens Romneycare lose to the worst President in modern times, in the midst of the worst economy since the Great Depression. Impossible though that may seem to you, although the Gentry GOP who are busily cramming this particular crap sandwich down your throat would rather see four more years of Obama than a win by Newt.
And before anybody starts blubbering that I’m betraying the Republican Party, keep in mind that I’m not a Republican. I’m a registered Libertarian. I’m one of those independents the GOP Ruling Class keeps on raving that they have to nominate Mitt in order to attract. Except I’m the sort of independent who isn’t attracted by the likes of Mitt Romney, I’m repulsed.
In response, I care that people vote, but not for whom they vote. Political parties are a necessary evil, but not terribly interesting in and of themselves. Increasing GOP control over Congress is more important, anyway.
Update II: linked at The Conservatory:
There are lots of reasons not to like Newt. Whether those reasons add up to preferring Romney as ‘the only candidate with a chance to defeat Obama’ is a matter for your judgments. But the bases on which some Romney supporters have attacked Gingrich are so patently false that they’re as insulting as the country-club Republicans’ refusal to acknowledge that the TEA Party folks deserve a place at the table. Newt’s an “attack muffin”? Well, that’s a funny line, but Romney’s Hamburger Helper by proxy, and we’re tired of being hamburger handjobbed.
One thing I really want to know from Romney, who we all know likes to ‘buy’ things. When he left the governors office, he purchased all the hard drives which contained everything about his tenure as governor.
Why did he buy it, only to destroy it? What was there he needed to hide? This is not ‘normal’ behavior by someone open and honest!
Call me crazy, but I voted for Ron Paul in our SC primary. I also believe that RP will get a lot more votes and delegates than people think this election. While it most likely won’t get him the nod for the GOP nomination, it might just get the eventual winner to adopt some of his domestic policies and that’s a good thing.
The problem with Sarah Palin’s argument is that she never defines ‘the establishment’ at all- same as Newt, they claim that everyone who opposes them is some sort of hated ‘establishment’, but if you look at the people who don’t like Newt many are not the establishment- in fact, many who oppose Newt are Tea Party people and conservatives who think that Newt is just as much ‘establishment’ as Romney is, the only difference being that he isn’t as qualified and is too offensive to moderates/independents.
Sarah, I supported you, but don’t get sucked into this primary mess too. Newt’s on a suicidal run to destroy Romney and ‘the establishment’ and the Republican party- tell him to get back to explaining why he should be President and why Obama should not be, that’s what we want to hear more than posts like this one.
I don’t believe for a minute that you ever supported Palin. If you had, you’d know who she considers the establishment. Have you read her books? Have you heard her speeches” Have you read all of her FB notes? Have you seen ‘The Undefeated”?
I don’t see why you don’t believe that someone could support Palin and not agree with her. I supported her, and still do, but I sure wish she’d be talking up Santorum more than she is Newt. It would just seem to go along with her principles a little more. Maybe she thinks Newt would have a better chance than Santorum to defeat Romney, and I think she wants him defeated badly.
It’s not about Newt. It’s about stopping Mitt. It really is that simple.
As far as me questioning the poster’s support of Palin, it had nothing to do with him/her disagreeing with Palin. It had to do with him/her not understanding who Palin calls “the establishment”.

lets not forget that we’ve seen “Romney consultants” for the past 3 years trashing Palin as “unserious”. Palin owes Mr. Romneycare nothing in this fight.
I was a one time Palinista, I remember getting in heated arguments with friends and family, but she has shown her true colors over the years and conservatives would be wise to dump this con artist.
Newt is the epitome of “Establishment”, he’s spent his whole life in Washington with a lucrative career as a K Street lobbyist. I guess all that “crony capitalism” stuff was just cheap talk.
Palin will NEVER be President, she’s just some bimbo that couldn’t even handle a full term as Alaska Governor. she doesn’t really care about these issues, she’s just in it for herself.
If Romney prevails, everyone still gets behind him, except a tiny fringe of total goofballs
Now now, Smitty, “it’s not worth getting angry about.”
Yea, we keep hearing a lot of Mittwits saying they were once Palin supporters…LOL
And by the way, if anybody is qualified to talk about the Establishment, its Sarah Palin, who’s been the recipient of their bullshit for years now. She knows what she’s talking about. It’s not just a “conspiracy theory” to her.
Furthermore, I would suspect that a wee birdie may have told her that the Mitt fix was in, aiding her final decision not to run.
I find myself skeptical, as well.
Use of the term “goofball” is meant as de-escalatory.

I am Goofballicus!
If Barack Hussein Obama is Evil, then Willard is The Banality Of Evil – relatively speaking.
Just one reason among many why I refuse to vote for him.
No, *I* am Goofballicus!
This is the best time to take down the establishment. If we allow them to foist their chosen candidate on us now, we might as well go back to the time party bosses openly anointed their chosen candidates and told us to like it or lump it. If we don’t stand firm now, nothing will ever change.

Classic concern troll, A supporter of Palin would not refer to her as a “bimbo” being unable to finish her term as Governor,” and it’s usually people who either don’t support her who use the term, “Palinista”.
I agree with you there.
Yeah I bet you were almost as big a Palin supporter as Jesse Griffin or Art Chance, right?
You can always spot these lowlife bums, usually by the time you read the first sentence. They always manage to give themselves away one way or another.

Another first!
I’m guessing this is some strange twist on the idea of sticking something where the sun doesn’t shine. I don’t know what you mean, but I can hear the cliches scream as you torture them.
Because nothing says “not a con artist” like buying up and destroying the evidence, right Mittskis?
We are all goofballs on this bus!
It is a standing rebuke to the GOP leadership that they thought they could shove a snake oil salesman like Mitt down our throats.
It is a standing rebuke to the GOP base that given the choice between TWO snake oil salesmen, some of us feel obliged to pick one.
“As a concerned Christian Conservative, I’m worried about Sarah Palin…” Did I do that right, Mr. Axelrod?
Speak for yourself, Bozo!
I think he was referring to BO’s conviction that the sun shines from out his ass.
Nicely done.
Glad I wasn’t drinking coffee when I read this comment.
Palin get trashed on the intertubes because certain groups hate her. Atheists, Bitter lonely gays (cf: Sullivan), nerdy male chauvinists, social liberals and RINO’s – AKA about 90 percent of the political commentators on the intertubes.
I’m a little puzzled as why she’s supporting Gingrich, but if you read her comment on facebook she’s not so supporting Gingrich as attacking the Establishment for playing by Alinsky’s rules. She’s absolutely correct on that but personally I think Santorum is probably more conservative than Newt.
Watched Romney on the stump in Panama City, Florida, today invoke Santorum’s lines about the Declaration of Independence and God Given Rights, and then came close to Santorum’s quote for immigrants, “America is worth it,” just before Mitt launches into his stylized reading of America the Beautiful. Doubles down with “restoring the shining city on the hill” as his diss of Ronald Reagan hasn’t quite gone viral enough to pull his retainer speech writers away from craft services. Honestly, why doesn’t someone just fashion that video loop for a national TV ad? Otherwise, watch Mitt hold the money and run the clock out.
Todd has outright endorsed Newt, and did some two weeks or so before Sarah recommended folks in SC vote for Newt.
What’s wrong with destroying the candidacy of the guy who contributed money to hard left Democrats?
It seems to me, —————— I know it’s just me, and I must be out of it or something, ——————- but it seems to me, ———- merely as a general proposition, ———– that it’s generally NOT A GOOD IDEA to give the chief plum of the Republican party, her presidential nomination, ————— to a guy who even thought of donating money to any Democrat, and especially any Democrat after 1968!
If there is a choice between a guy who BUILT conservative ruling majorities on the one hand, and the guy who donated money to Democrats, —————– doesn’t it seem RATHER OBVIOUS NOT TO GO with the guy that gave money to Democrats?
Just sayin’…………….
Names? Dates? Or is it just the paranoid voices in your head telling you these things?
As with Smitty’s “wee bird” below – you make things up out of whole cloth, then use them as REASONS to do what you were going to do anyway.
Ever ponder she knows Gingrich a hell of a lot better than we do?
And I’m all on board with stopping Romney.
And if that takes a Kamikaze strike against his candidacy, ——– then so be it.
BEFORE any real reform can possibly occur, the GOP establishment MUST be exposed and thwarted. Otherwise they’ll kill any real reform agenda in the cradle.
Which means our hopes for changing Washington rest with Gingrich, and rest with former Governor Palin.
Wanna honk my nose?
Firesign forever!
More than the last three years!
They ripped Palin the moment she was announced, and it’s only gotten worse since.
It’s as Robin of Berkley described it, “a gang rape” in public, which they cheered on.
Really sick stuff.
And they’re now doing the same thing to Gingrich, gang raping him.
If she knows so much about it, shouldn’t she be more specific? Names, dates, actions – WHO did WHAT, and when.
Railing against an amorphous enemy like “the establishment” is just like the RINO label – you can apply to anyone with whom you disagree, no matter what their record (or yours) really is.
It’s either an act of cowardice to refuse to name names and tell why they should be blamed, or just irrational ranting.
Sorry, the second she equated Newt with Jesus Christ, she lost the argument in my book.
Not just the stupidity of it, or the sacrilege, but because the record very clearly shows Gingrich is a hell of a lot more like Judas Iscariot than Jesus.
You’re a grown man, and no one can tell you what to do, but please consider taking those dashes off of steroids.
That is all.
