  1. was this dripping with sarcasm… or a desperate attempt to  elicit responses of admiration? Either way, don’t go. (? baby please don’t go…don’t gooooooo I’m begging you to stay?)I need my daily pro Santorum posts : )

  2. Nah, S. IL — for the ironic pick and ultimate protest…and because it sounds like fun and with the price of gas being what it is…just not anywhere near StL (that’s just about as bad as the Chi now).
Besides, anything more than a seedy roadhouse is too elitist.

  3. Paisans don’t “do” pots of gold — more like a steaming plate of linguine (with the sauce of one’s choice).

  4. I’m a SF freak, and even I don’t know this Adam Malin character which only makes Richard’s point better.

  5. Noooooooooooo! You are one of the first bloggers I ever read, back before I even became politically aware. Who is this poseur woman? She is one of these pretty little young nobodies who are a dime a dozen. You are real, someone with beliefs & passion who reminds me of a reporter from a 30s movie. I don’t always agree with you, sometimes I want to bop you over the head but you never, ever waste my time because you believe in what you do and always seek the truth. What the hell is this woman’s job other than to tweet and be a phony, she could be replaced in a nano-second but there is only one RSM.

  6. Well, I got a really nice video of HS students joining with OWS protesters calling conservative bloggers the “problem” with this country.

It caused the teacher and school all sort of bad press, got picked up here in CO by the local media.

So something came out of BlogCon.

Of course, I wasn’t invited back to this one.  So, you know.  Make of that what you will.

  7.  Thanks for the explanation.  My current blog has a longer career than she does.  And my first blog pre-dated the term “blog”.  Nobody’s ever heard of me, and I’ve been writing about politics for decades; but nobody ever gave up their career because of me.

  8. Unemployed? Retiring to the sofa to eat bourbon bon bons and watch…what would you watch? Balancing a laptop, the remote, snacks and beverages while monitoring the fray is a bit like the by-standers who went to view battles as theater. The Stacy we know would not situate himself on the sidelines for viewing, or even selling concessions (well, maybe concessions), but be in the fray. Now get back in there! For the Gipper!

  9.  Since it is basically a fundraiser for The Franklin and Freedom Works, I’m guessing they don’t pay or provide expenses for the panelists, maybe the headline speaker.   Is that right, that there’s no money involved for most?

  10.  Oh I’m sure you can pick up a few good tips and pointers and meet some interesting people, but all good scams offer you something. And what ever of value is there you could probably pick up from other sources, including meeting people, which you can do covering campaigns and other stories. I’m not saying I would never attend one, but I sure wouldn’t go a hell of a long way out of my way to do so, and I wouldn’t fork over a lot of money to do it either, even if it was practically in my back yard. And I sure as hell wouldn’t let myself get that worked up and tore up over some chippy not inviting me to one.

  11.  That’s just it, people that either are that or who Hale knows will be willing to fork over the money to meet them and hopefully become like them. In the meantime going to one probably won’t increase your readership by one percent. What, you go to one of the things, and after its over you post about it, and blog readers are going to say-

“Oh look, here’s a new blogger that went to Blog Con and met Allahpundit, let’s start reading him every day and link him.”

I seriously doubt that. In fairness, I guess if you meet enough of those guys there and they link you, maybe it could help a little. But I still think basically its a scam, something that mainly promotes Tabitha Hale, and if you’re lucky you get a few little crumbs. Not worth getting all torn up about.

  12. It sure doesn’t seem to be about a movement if you are going to leave out bloggers you might have some disagreements with. It seems more like a social event (not that there is anything wrong with that), but if they are there to strategize for the up coming election, leaving people out is not the way to win it. One thing we can say about the progs is that they do, for the most part, strategize and unite to get thier message out (of coarse it helps when they all have the Borg-like mentallity, but still).

  13. The Other McCain sponsored BlogCom should have an open bar for all speakers and organizers, a smoking section (which will mean an outdoor location given the draconian smoking law), and fireworks at the conclusion of each day’s events (fired off by all the participants of the conference).  Cases of roman candles, mortars, and other rockets will be handed out to the participants.

  14. It is not a fundraiser for anybody. There is no registration fee to attend. It’s a way for FreedomWorks and Franklin Center to build awareness and goodwill among conservative bloggers by providing them with an informative and fun couple of days of training and networking. No one is making any money off of this, least of all Tabitha, who puts these events together as part of her job, at FreedomWorks previously and now at Franklin Center.

  15.  Doc Obvious, maybe I’m completely clueless but I don’t have the slightest idea what you’re talking about, and judging by the other comments to this post, I don’t much think anybody else does either.
