Quite succinct from both gents.

The policy of the EU powers that be and the ECB and big Euro-banks has been to kick the can down the road at every juncture because if it ever comes to rest long enough to be measured, it will become instantly apparent that the bankers and policymakers have squandered their assets, sending good euros chasing after bad.

From the first signs of Greece’s insolvency two and a half years ago, it was apparent to anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of finance and access to a $5 calculator that there was no freakin’ way the country could ever comply even with the first limited austerity measures back then, and they have not.

Interestingly enough, the pending banking crisis in the Eurozone closely resembles that which exploded in the US in 2008 in that banks were arm-twisted by the government(s) into making unsound loans, but did so with gusto once they began.

There’s a reason for credit standards: those who can’t meet them aren’t likely to meet their obligations for repayment.
