FEATURE: McCain Jauntily Raked Again

The bad news is that the Wombat has had an extended stay in a Minnesota. He tries to claim it was something medical, and I guess being buried in anime groupies can have medical implications. Regardless of the actual details, we bid him Godspeed in recovery.

This week’s FMJRA celebrates at least one of your masthead names breaking 20k follows on Twitter. While, on the one hand, this is the least useful accomplishment imaginable, everybody should follow my 20,000th follower:

Oh, and guess who’s still poking along back around 19k?

Again, this milestone is of no specific merit, except as an occasion to heap abuse about Robert Stacy McCain’s head and shoulders.

At any rate, it’s time to quit fannying about and let the good links roll:

I’m not on Twitter, but if I were, I’d follow you. I always check Stacy’s on this blog and quite often get a kick out of his tweets. I wish Wombat the very best in Minnesota. It was very nice to see “by Smitty” again. And where the heck is that famous little guy? Surely he has a very important expression to demonstrate just how imbecilic our government is.

Framing. It’s all in the framing.

Robert Stacy McCain == boring (as a handle)

Smitty the Wacko Bird == zany, fun loving, mavericky

That folks, is what Tweetdeck can do for you.

    Get well soon, Wombat!

Congrats on your twitterachievement, Smitty! I hover around a thosand and a half followers even though apparently I offend people away as quickly as I attract them since twitter is always telling me that I have new followers but my #s rarely change. Oh well.

So…this is how you treat the 19,999 followers who got you there? I feel so used!

    Wombat, get well soon!

Smitty, congratulations on kicking Twitter ass. All that Army talk this week and (while he was not looking) RSM gets whooped by Navy.

I am thinking that “King of Butthurt” might attract a clientele he was not looking for.

You know…this is the first week in four+ years that I haven’t linked to at least one TOM post!…I blame The Sequester(tm).

And now, of course, it’s going away.

Yeah! I do too…but, hey, it’s a Saturday Night, so I’m used to being used [at least I was in my single days].

Although, I bet the “McCain” part of his handle is at least somewhat intriguing to people.

Don’t feel badly, Bob. I only managed one link myself. And I can’t even blame The Sequester for it. 🙁

And McCain will never have used it. Sad.

Smitty, please remember there is life out here without Twitter and Facebook. Millions of us do not do social media because we don’t care for the format and the limitations.

I’m seeing a lot of stuff just moved from social media to blogs and you’re not the worse offender. A Twitter feed is not the equivalent of a well-researched and well-written blog post. Yes, there’s a lot of good stuff on Twitter but nothing anywhere near as good as what you routinely turn out here on a daily basis. Please keep the tweets to a minimum.

    Relinquishing soapbox.

Medical problems? Sounds like the Wombat is malingering so he can take a bit of extra time off.

Yeah. Very soon from what I understand. I downloaded Janetter tonight and have been playing with it. It has some of look and feel of TweetDeck.

    Do people still use Twitter?

Howbout that “face book” thing. Still going strong?

I’d give it a try, but these 8-inch floppy disks only hold so much.

I downloaded it, but get an error when I try to sign in with twitter. Might have to try hootsuite.
