Kaitlyn Hunt’s family says she’s a victim of homophobia.

There is something . . . hinky about the “Free Kate” narrative. Becca Lower pointed out that teen lesbian/civil rights martyr Kaitlyn Hunt is, according to her own mother, a rather recent convert to the sapphic persuasion. Kelley Hunt Smith said her daughter had “always dated boys” until beginning her affair with the 14-year-old girl.

Hmm.

So, if we can believe a word Kaitlyn’s mom says (a necessary caveat, as she has been caught in multiple lies already) precious Kate was a happy, popular heterosexual until her senior year in high school, when she met this irresistibly hot freshman girl and — boom! —  Instant Lesbian.

This doesn’t make sense. It never made sense, and the real question was, what was being hidden by this Story Too Good to Be True?

R.J. Reidhead has some dark suspicions — dark enough, in fact, to compel her to take desperate measures:

There is absolutely NOTHING I dislike more than having to agree with R. S. McCain, but this is one of those rare times.  . . .
Do you know how much I dislike having to do this? I detest agreeing with R. S. McCain, but he is 100% on this one.  If Hunt were not so attractive, she would be ignored. She’s the face of the modern day lesbian, or so her defense is telling us, never mind that she has some serious issues. Never mind that what she has done has nothing to do with her being gay, and everything to do with the fact that she broke the law. . . .

And then she gets to the really scary part:

The Pink Flamingo will be willing to bet my toy poodle on the fact that Kaitlyn Ashley Hunt was molested as a child. . . .
You will rarely find a pedophile on record who has not been molested. . . .

Boom. There it is.

S.J. goes on to cite research about youthful sex offenders who “may be at higher risk for committing repeat offenses.” Think about that.

This is a great leap of conjecture that takes us far beyond where available evidence supports anything other than mere suspicion, however.

Certainly, I never would have said this myself — speculation is dangerous —  but it was a possibility that must have been in the back of the mind of everyone familiar with deviant psychology who considered the actual facts of the case, as opposed to the Myth of St. Kate that her supporters have crafted on behalf of this accused juvenile sex offender.

Leaving aside entirely the homosexual nature of the offense, what kind of 18-year-old high school senior arranges a rendezvous in a school toilet stall with a 14-year-old freshman?

“The first time occurred in the bathroom of the W wing at Sebastian High School. [The 14-year-old] stated that they sent text messages to each other to meet in the bathroom. [The 14-year-old] and Kaitlyn went into a bathroom stall and started kissing. Kaitlyn then took [the 14-yea-old’s] pants off and put her finger inside of [the 14-year-old’s] vagina.”

What kind of 18-year-old persists in such a sexual pursuit even after being twice warned by the younger girl’s parents to leave her alone? What kind of 18-year-old is so heedless of the legal risks?

You don’t need a Ph.D. in psychology to say that this kind of defiant, risk-taking, sexually aggressive personality is sociopathic.

Let the diagnostic experts have their say, and let the legal experts debate the law. Me, I’m just a journalist, willing to go wherever the facts lead, and certain at this point of exactly two things:

  1. We don’t have all the facts yet;
    and
  2. The Hunt family has been lying about this story from the start.

Gee, I wonder where Kaitlyn gets her anti-social traits? But that’s mere speculation, and then there is what can only be called gossip.

There is a Tumblr blog that has posted a video which purportedly shows Kaitlyn Hunt in a fight on the beach. The person posting this video claims to be a senior at Sebastian High School, and shares some unpleasant gossip about St. Kate:

I can tell you that the way the media is portraying her is far from reality. I have never even made contact with her before, but from personal experience I can say that she is not a good person and is not ‘innocent’. She is known as a whore throughout the school, constantly starts high school drama, gets in school suspensions, and is overall not well liked at all. No, I don’t have a grudge against her, I’ve never even made contact with her. It’s just that my whole school knows she’s not a good person and don’t think it’s fair the media is portraying this otherwise. Hopefully this video further proves she is not the girl everyone thinks she is.
If you don’t believe the video is real, google the Indian River County Sheriff’s website, find her under the inmate search, and see where it lists tattoos. It says she has a bird tattoo on her right, as does Kaitlyn in the video.

Tattoos? That’s interesting, because Kaitlyn’s father, Steven R. Hunt Jr., also has multiple tattoos listed on his own 2012 arrest record.

  1. THERE IS NOTHING MORE EVIL than homophobia, Mister Robert Stacy McCain. The 2% are foully being held back from joining the 1% and lording it over the 97% and no excuse is to petty too advance their agenda!

  2. Good work. This thing isn’t going away. Aside from several OMG moments in the past 15 minutes, I just don’t see this having a good ending. It’s sad. You hate to see a young life ruined, but if we’re dealing with what I think we are, there is no good ending for Hunt. The stats on what happens to people like this, who are obviously psychopaths are alarming. The psychological evaluation of Hunt is going to be interesting. Was she born this way or created. In my research for my 1st murder mystery I discovered that a psychopath is born that way and a sociopath is someone who was turned into one via injury or circumstances. She’s like a text-book.

    P. S. No matter what criticisms I’ve made in the past, my measure of a person is how they stand up for those who are among the least. Hunt’s victim needs a few champions. You have earned my respect for being the first to champion her.

    Your direct experience of evil gave you an instinct about this case that pretty much matched my own. Live long enough and pay close enough attention, and there are patterns that repeat themselves with sufficient frequency to be predictable.

    There appear to be many truly tragic aspects of this story, including the fact that it was Kaitlyn and her family who deliberately called worldwide attention to this case. Evidently they expected that their version of events would be accepted uncritically, not expecting that the Internet hates secrets, and once the Hunts were caught in a lie or two, the Streisand Effect took hold.

    By the time this is over, they will have no secrets left, and will become a textbook example of what happens to dishonest people who deliberately forfeit the customary respect for personal privacy.

  7. I just hope the truth comes out about Kaitlyn Hunt Smith. This is not about her being gay (or bisexual or whatever she is) but about her taking sexual advantage of a 14 year old girl after being repeatedly warned to stay away from her.

  9. Exactly. I’m starting to wonder about the show me the money thing. What is the financial situation of 14 year old’s family?

    What truly disturbs me about this story, about Kate Hunt is she is playing out as almost the same personality type as the character I created in my novel. I was simply using a half dozen quickie books on personality disorders. If I’m picking this up so fast, I think maybe her victim will be fortunate if she comes out no more damaged than she is now. If we’re dealing with text book, then Steve Hunt thought he could get away with it. I suspect he has any number of grand ideas of how to make the big financial score.

  13. Presuming this is the same Steven Hunt, former Florida police officer, this NOT the first time that Steve Hunt has tried to bully a victim into not pressing charges. It’s why he was kicked off the police force. http://www.policecrimes.com/police_brutality/Florida_police2.html
    And of course that’s what this is – an attempt to bully the DA’s office and the victim’s family into dropping this. Turns out that during KH’s first day at “alternative school” an 18yo and 15yo were caught having sex in the bathroom. In that case, charges were not pressed because the younger girl’s family didn’t want to. Shortly afterwards, the Hunt family went public with their lies to gin up support. It’s sheer thuggery, with a side of fraud because they are making money from the public over this.

  14. The question that continues to bubble to the surface for me is, what did the school do about this, if anything? The schoolmate makes it sound like Hunt had the school under siege. If she was this aggressive and violent towards others, it had to become obvious to the principal at some point? Presuming Hunt started as a freshman at Sebastian HS, she should’ve been suspended and/or expelled long ago

  20. I was saving the Melbourne arrest for later. But yeah, do the math: Father’s DOB June ’76, Kaitlyn born August 1994. Kaitlyn’s mom because pregnant around Christmas ’93, when Kaitlyn’s father was 17.

    In 1996, when Kaitlyn’s father was 19 or 20, he was hired as a police officer in West Melbourne. Eight years later, by which time he had been promoted to sergeant, he got in a bar fight and, attempting to evade a battery charge, tried to intimidate the victim, so that by May 2004, he was an ex-cop. The details of his 2012 arrest — to which he copped a plea of nolo contendre in August 2012 — are unclear, but as a condition of probation, Hunt was required to avoid contacting two women (Ann Anderson and Nadine Evans) and also to stay away from the Sebastian Elks Club.

    In all, it adds up to a picture of a reckless macho guy with a habit of trying to intimidate people. And this was the guy whose online petition accused the 14-year-old’s family of homophobic vengeance, and who deliberately LIED ABOUT HIS OWN DAUGHTER’S AGE in an attempt to portray her as being unjustly persecuted.

    We’ll see how this plays out, eh?

  25. The way to deal with doing something that is wrong, is admitting it, facing the consequences, and getting on with life (and working hard not to let it happen again). Kaitlyn Hunt Smith is digging her hole deeper and deeper. I am sorry for her she drew the wrong parents in the deck of life, but many have over come similar disadvantages. What she is now on trial for is taking advantage of a 14 year old.

  28. I’m beginning to fear that Kaitlyn Hunt’s story is being driven by her parents (and that her story is a sad one).

  30. There is a confluence of evil here. Mom and Dad are lying in public to get the charges against their daughter dismissed. The protection of those under 18 years from sexual assault by adults is being attacked by the parents. That fits the agenda of the North American Man Boy Association.
    What is more sexist, protecting all children from sexual predators or not protecting female children when the predator is female?

    Might be Borderline Personality Disorder.

    She’s barely old enough for a legal diagnosis (personality disorders don’t crystalize until the late teens), but the fact that she’s always starting stuff up and doing provocative things for the sake of provocation is a definite red flag.

    Look for an extremely chaotic, turbulent upbringing, that may or may not include sexual abuse.

    And if not BPD, one of the other personality disorders. People don’t act like this unless they’ve been severely damaged to the point that their souls stopped developing.

    Actually, someone with a PhD in psychobabble would not say such a thing, based on the evidence at hand; the most he would say is that such behavior might indicate the person is sociopathic. What it could just as well indicate is a girl under the influence of some raging hormones, to the extent that her sexual urges are overriding logic and common sense. That happens with teenagers — and older than teenagers — a whole lot. One might make the same statement about our favorite newly elected congressman, Mark Sanford.

    But that’s just it: by rejecting the plea bargain deal, Miss Hunt is deliberately not doing that. She could have avoided jail time completely, and now she’s staring a fifteen year sentence dead in the eye.

Stacy, I resort to sarcasm because a) in lighter matters it a recognition of failures we all comprehend because we all share them, or b) in darker matters it is at least one step above blind rage, a state that has seldom done me any good in the long term, and is itself basically a surrender to the counsel of despair.

    Reprehensible as the actions of this young woman and her family may prove to be, we have to realize that they are small beans next to the political opportunists of the “progressive” and “enlightened” community who are using them to try and place themselves one more step higher on the ladder of license and freedom from accountability at the expense of all of us. Their attempts to exploit this are the bigger threat of this scandal.

  44. Probably about the same age as Steven, who remarried about three years ago, according to a source in Florida. The same source said that Kaitlyn is the oldest of four kids between Steven and his ex, and Kaitlyn’s mother had a fifth child with her second husband.

  45. Well, all teenagers go through their moods, but the idea that you can break the law this way — after having twice been warned — exhibits a hostility toward authority that is certainly not healthy, at any age.

    People have a mistaken concept of what “sociopath” indicates. The con man is a sociopath more so than the ax murderer. If you think about Dick and Perry from “In Cold Blood,” it was Dick — using his charm to pass bad checks — who was the sociopathic personality. Dishonesty, contempt for authority, the idea that the rules don’t apply to you, that you’re smarter than everybody else, that obeying the rules and playing fair is for “chumps,” and that you can always bullshit your way out of anything: Sociopathic..
