Kaitlyn Hunt: Now she’s where guilty perverts belong.
Anyone who watched Tuesday’s hearing in the Kaitlyn Hunt case knows two things: “Free Kate” is guilty as hell, and her lawyer is an idiot.
Let’s admit that even a good lawyer would have difficulty representing a client as guilty as Kaitlyn Hunt. Bad cases require bad arguments, and if the guilty client insists on fighting the case all the way to trial, any attorney who accepts the fee is going to be obliged to look like an incompetent idiot from time to time. But read this statement issued by Kaitlyn Hunt’s lawyer today and see if you can spot a certain — what shall we call it? — ironic lack of self-awareness:
Translation: “My perverted client is guilty as hell, and it’s so unfair of prosecutors to keep pointing out what a guilty pervert she is!”
SHE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE PLEA BARGAIN!
Thanks, O watchful reader!
So, how much money was donated by how many people to pay for this idiot to represent Kaitlyn? And what does she actually charge? It can’t be much, right?
An effective lawyer would have told her to TAKE THE GODDAMNED PLEA DEAL!

Criminal defense is expensive, even when you’re not in the big city. They do a critically important job, which often involves playing things out in the court of public opinion. This statement, in my view, was unprofessional and provincial. I do not believe it will sway minds.
THEY ARE UP TO SOMETHING!

I wonder how much the lawyer was aware of the tabs being kept on the victim – she seems to know a fair bit about her “treatment” – was she aware of the prohibited contact?
Yes, well, clients don’t listen. I had one guy who was being sued and he hated the plaintiff so much that he wouldn’t listen to us. He showed up for depositions dressed as a nun once, and a Hell’s Angels biker another time.
Is it still expensive when you hire an imbecile to do it? #SomebodyGotRobbed
I thought she did OKish in the hearing yesterday – objected some, probably would object a lot more in a trial on some of the evidenciary points, but, OK, make the objection, let it get overruled…
Now I don’t think she’s anywhere near a good a lawyer as I’d thought she was.
So she sure swayed my mind.

Quite. This was the most poorly drafted document for public consumption ever. It also demonstrates some misunderstanding of an attorney’s obligations in cases such as this. Query the references to the victim and her “desires” at all.
It’s more of the proud liberal tradition of “blame someone else.” It’s always someone else’s fault. They are incapable of taking personal responsibility for anything, The Hunts blame the victim, and her parents. The lawyer blames the prosecution, and the victims parents. The supporters attack anyone in sight at the behest of the Hunts.
In the end, an adult knowingly violated state law. Refused easy ways out, and doubled down on the law breaking-with the full assistance of her mother, and scads of supporters.
That, and they want to make it legal for adults to have sex with kids.
Nail the prosecutor – yep that will get her off! RT @rsmccain: The World’s Worst Client and The World’s Worst Lawyer http://t.co/KDo8LL9a37
Kaitlyn Hunt’s Lawyer, Failed Her Client, Scapegoats Prosecution http://t.co/MPig359mJV Wow…not only a crappy atty, but barely literate.
Look on the bright side. When Kaitlyn Hunt is convicted at trial, she’ll have a dynamite appeal issue: incompetence of counsel.
This woman should censured as she has incited the Freekater masses more as a result of this bit of fiction “taken to a church that labels being gay a sin, has the Bible thrown at her, all of her thing in her room boxed up and taken from her, is apparently hit by her parent”
Note the use of “apparently” because she know this is a lie. And there is nothing wrong with going to church and believing Gods rules. To bad Kaitlyn parents didn’t do the same for her
With respect to comments about the lawyer compelling a client to take a deal, I would note that guilty pleas must be voluntary with full understanding of the crime, the range of punishment and without threats or promises. Lawyers walk a very thin line in advising clients, because if a judge believes the lawyer coerced a client to pleading guilty s/he can refuse to accept the plea bargin. The other issue in this case concerns who’s driving the bus. It is very difficult to represent 18-19 year olds when parents are involved, especially when parents are footing the bill. Understandably, they wish to be involved but cannot be because of ethical considerations. The lawyer can only do so much. If the client, with non-lawyer advisors, chooses to ignore the advice, then the chips fall where they fall. That’s life in the legal biz. All that said, I would NEVER release a statement similar to the one here. It serves no purpose toward the end goal which is helping the client get the best result possible under the circumstances.
It’s the standard leftist philosophy: situational adulthood. Children consenting to sex and abortion? Adult enough to decide without parental involvement. 18 year olds joining the military? Kids, so immature we can’t even let recruiters onto college campuses to influence them. 26 year olds? Babies, who still need their parents to maintain their health insurance or the poor things will die without health care.
The nerve of this woman!
She’s faulting the prosecutor for including the dirty details of Kate’s own actions in the Notice of Violations, citing the beginning of school for the so-called “alleged victim,” but has no compunction about this public document making heretofore unproven allegations about physical and emotional abuse on the part of the victim’s parents? Gee whiz, counselor, did it occur to you that those are some things that could be whispered about in the hallways of the school the 15-year-old still attends, but that your imprisoned client was banished from?
Ms. Graves, I can’t speak for Chris Taylor, but I can answer the question of why the detail was necessary: Because your client and her parents constantly and repeatedly have brazenly lied about the facts of the case, have encouraged strangers from around the world to smear and slander the victim’s parents, and targeted the prosecutor for abuse. They wanted to rally libertines from around the world to spend tens of thousands of dollars to intimidate everyone in Florida into backing down, and Taylor is using the only weapon he has to fight back: The whole truth. The truth about Kate’s age. The truth about Kate’s character (or, lack of same). The truth about her knowledge of and disregard for the law.
Just as disgusting is the way you write “The younger teen cannot comprehend the seriousness of the matter because it is something she consented to…” Did it occur to you that it’s that lack of comprehension skills that makes it stupid to allow barely pubescent girls to consent? Funny, your client stated in her arrest affidavit in answer to the question of whether she knew it was wrong to be digitizing a 14-year-old that “[I] didn’t think about it because [the 14-year-old] acted so much older.” Oh, really. Well, tell me, counselor, what the hell’s it going to take for Kate to finally take the law seriously? Apparently, you haven’t done your job of making sure she got the message that where she might be going for a long time, there are no 14-year-olds.
AMEN!
I completely agree, it took me three tries to read her statement because of the errors in syntax and grammar, not to mention the typos. However, it does match up with the front that the whole group is presenting, they show up in court in slovenly dress and post barely readable notices on facebook and twitter, why should their attorney be any different. I would find new counsel if mine wasn’t able to put together a sentence, much less a paragraph.
On a completely different note: how many tattoos does Kate have? I have read that she has at least 5, that seems like a lot to me for someone so young.
I think I’d pay cash money to read THAT transcript.
What he said!
People should look carefully at how she is treating the victim here – in addition to what you eloquently stated, that part about going back to school made my hair stand on end. Some of us might view comments like “I can only imagine the chatter at school”, etc., as equivalent to, “nice house there, would be shame if you lost it. In a fire.” Hunt’s sisters and friends still attend that school, and this statement was posted on their FB page.
I do not know Florida guidelines for Professional Behavior, but in my state, the second to last paragraph of her statement would get this lawyer suspended in an instant, especially given that the victim is a minor. With each new revelation and statement by the #Free Kate crowd, it becomes evident they are waging a cruel war of attrition against the victim and her family to try to destroy them and prevent testimony. It’s horrific. I pity these people when they stand before the Final Judge.
I think the IRC jail booking description indicated three tattoos, one of which was the word “Pure” tattooed on her side.

One problem with going back in time and having her accept a plea… she has demonstrated that she has no ability to control herself with regard to the victim. She would certainly have violated the terms of the plea deal in as flagrant a manner as what we have just witnessed. I haven’t read the details of the proffered deal, but a judge would have very little latitude in that situation. As it stands now, her new lawyer still has some leverage since she has not been convicted yet.
Not just that paragraph. I read her “I have made every attempt to keep the alleged victim out of the public eye,” as a not-so-veiled threat. She’s pissed the DA released details about how her client has been flouting the judge’s order and she’s threatening to retaliate.
Also note how she slipped this in: “She already tried to speak to Kaitlyn’s mother Kelley who shut her down.” Nice, Ms. Graves, nice. That, folks, is known as “Creating a Narrative.” If you recall, Mama Hunt is also in a wee bit of hot water for allegedly asking the victim to destroy evidence, among other potential charges. By doing this, Graves has started to build a story about the poor, aggrieved Mrs. Hunt, who is only in her thirties, poor thing, so how can we expect her to abide by the law?

Crapgame to Big Joe: make a deal
They’re gay activists now – and Kate’s gotta “take one for team”…
I would note, a search of the national lawyer ranking service Martindale-Hubbel reveals she’s been practicing for almost 25 years. She still has no skills rating. Quite telling if you’re in the biz.
Oh, the irony…
And nobody is old enough to own/use a weapon to protect themselves, unless they’ve got a State ID.
Is anyone NOT reading this letter as a threat to the victim’s family and the prosecutors to lay off or they’ll see to it that personal info on the victim makes its way out to the public? Given that the victim exchanged texts and I guess video with Kaitlyn Hunt for months, I can certainly imagine mysterious “leaks” or a “hacking” which includes the victim griping about her parents, engaging in phone sex or whatever else it takes to muddy the waters and make the victim’s family beg the prosecution to drop the case. It’s not like the Hunt family isn’t experienced in witness intimidation.

N.B. the silence of the Feminist cabal with respect to the attacks on the young victim in this case as exemplified in Ms. Grave’s second to last paragraph. Were the perpetrator in this case a male, we would be treated to this story under a 60 point bold headline referencing the “War On Women.” That silence speaks volumes about the Feminist agenda.
The hate and frenzy on the #freekate page is pretty high now. Many of them are outraged that “Kate’s girlfriend” is being abused by her Bible thumping parents. The Katers are not very sane and many of them are local…I am concerned for the Smith’s safety
Yes.
Yes. Amen. Thank you.
Wow. Evil. Could the exchange of the phone actually have been a calculated move to produce this result? Of course it’s a stupid idea like most criminal conspiracies but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that they did this on purpose.
I would sue them for libel. The hundreds of people who have been defaming the victim’s family have assets.
No say it isn’t so. Kate has a tattoo that says “pure”. That is positively Orwellian use of language.
