Banjo Player Caught in Child-Sex Sting

Abraham Spear: Banjo-playing pedophile

When someone told me about this story, my first thought was, “Well, of course he’s a banjo player.” IYKWIMAITYD:

A country musician has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to trying to have sex with a woman’s seven and nine-year-old daughters.
Abraham Spear was arrested at a restaurant in Dallas on September 20, 2012, when he arranged to meet an undercover FBI agent, posing as the mother of the two young girls.
The 30-year-old Banjo player, who was set to perform with the Josh Thompson band at the time of the incident, was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison in Dallas, Texas.
Authorities began investigating Spear when he logged onto a website, using the screen name MUSICMAN30, and began communicating with a woman who was actually an undercover FBI agent . . .
[After he] was arrested by federal agents [he] broke down sobbing, insisting that he wasn’t going to actually do anything.
‘Spear also admitted that he had engaged in sexually explicit communications with other mothers of minor girls, including one in which he offered to pay $200 to engage in sexual acts with the mother’s minor daughter,’ according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Watch out for those pedophile banjo players.

  1. Pete Townsend, GUITARIST and CSI jingle writer, says massive kiddie porn collection was for ‘research’. Kinda been a while since “Tommy,” Uncle Ernie….

  2. Alas, this was line was inevitable…

Why don’t ya give the young’ns a swinging chance next time, Dick!

  3. Kinda prophetic, wasn’t it? Townshend also claims to have been molested as a child and to be “bisexual”…

  4. It is unfortunate that despite years of research and pretty conclusive evidence, that molestation no longer has any impact on your future behavior or sexual choices.

After all a bit of consensual loving is good for everybody.

  5. My good Purgatorian, as a native Texan, I must protest. The correct phrases are:

“That ole boy just needs killin”

    or

“There’s some folks that just need killin”

  6. No. That’s realistic. Pedos do not get better and Uncle Ernie is announcing a distinct lack of preference.

  7. I nicked that from The New Testament… It seems that Jesus, contrary to the hype, was not so “tolerant” towards those who cause his children to sin! You can read the whole thing in Matthew 18…

  8. Can you find a video of the SNL “gay camping” skit, “Deliverance II” for us? I can’t seem to…

  9. Wow. Used to see this guy play with King Wilkie over 10 years ago in Richmond, VA. Even have some recordings of it. What a shame. Don’t get me wrong, I have no sympathy for him. I just wonder why someone with so much talent would need something so evil to get off. Just goes to show that pedophiles cannot be fixed and are truly screwed beyond belief.

  10. I wasn’t sure what you were going for there… And I can entirely sympathise! But now that I understand, I must say I believe you may be right…

Part of me tends to some lenience for these types if there is a possibility that they are victims themselves – not that I advocate this as any excuse or an “easy out” for them, mind you!

I wonder if that part of us that discerns Good and Evil understands the true impact of the trauma of molestation when we, ourselves, consciously do not. That would explain the particularly gut-wrenching revulsion and homicidal rage we have at these sorts of things. And wouldn’t it be within the true character of Evil to perpetuate itself through the twisted suffering of its innocent victims?

Heh. I’ve worked in locked institutions too long, I fear…
