Accused sex offender Kaitlyn Hunt was sent to jail after an August hearing.
“A few days from now, Jim and Laurie Smith of [REDACTED], Vero Beach, FL, are going to be murdered by Lycere Freemartin Cunningham for their involvement in the Kaitlyn Hunt case. Mr. Cunningham has learned that Mr. Smith has caused new charges to be brought against Kaitlyn that revoked her bond and landed her back in jail just the other day. He didn’t have to do that to her. It was a deliberate malicious act. He turned her in to the authorities. He and his wife will pay with their lives for [thinking] it is okay to sic law [enforcement] on people.”

There hasn’t been much actual “news” in the Kaitlyn Hunt case during the several weeks since her violations of the “no-contact” order sent Kaitlyn to jail in August, but my Twitter timeline has remained a constant source of updates on the behind-the-scenes arguments involving the “Free Kate” movement. Matt Ross yesterday reported this death threat against the parents of Kaitlyn Hunt’s victim. I am unable to determine if “Lycere Cunningham” is a real person who actually made this threat, and whether it should be taken seriously. (You can Google it yourself.)
What made the Kaitlyn Hunt story newsworthy in May was the appearance of a “mainstream” groundswell of sympathy, created through fictions and half-truths that misrepresented the ages of both Hunt and her victim, and sought to portray Hunt as the essentially innocent victim of anti-gay prejudice. This victimhood narrative had snowballing momentum when I first noticed the story on May 22, but by early June, the facts of the case had been made sufficiently clear that the liberal media dropped the story, and even most gay-rights organizations distanced themselves from the “Free Kate” movement.
However, while the movement lost its mainstream appeal, there was still a sizeable hard core of Kaitlyn Hunt fanatics remaining, but even that crew of misfits, kooks and weirdos was winnowed down pretty seriously after August, when it was revealed that Hunt had flagrantly violated the “no-contact” order of her pre-trial release.
Whatever misplaced sympathy (or twisted affinity) had led people to support the “Free Kate” movement quickly lost its rationale.
Not only did the violations put the original charges in a new and unfavorable light — Kaitlyn Hunt’s interest in her (still) underage victim seemed to be a sort of perverse obsession — but the new charges of transmitting material harmful to a minor looked to be a slam-dunk conviction. What’s the purpose of rallying in support of someone who is almost certain to go to prison no matter what?
Alas, there are kooks beyond reach of any rational argument:

You may remember Rachel Carson Zerbe as author of what Matt Ross called a “jailbait manifesto” in defense of Kaitlyn Hunt. In accusing me of “hate,” Zerbe links to an article at a liberal site called Political Freakshow: “#SmearKate: The Kaitlyn Hunt Saga Has Now Become A Talking Point For Republicans To Push Their Bullshit ‘Pedophilia Is Being Normalized’ Theory And Their Constant Homophobia.”
The problem? That article was written in May, before the truth was widely known, when the belief that Kaitlyn Hunt was a victim of homophobia was still quite widespread. For that matter, contrary to the headline by Political Freakshow blogger Drew Childers, the effort to normalize pedophilia is not a “Republican theory.” It is not “bullshit.” It is very real, the “Free Kate” movement was part of it, and many people are now on the alert for this dangerous tendency.
Why did @MRC_43 think it was a good idea to poke me? https://t.co/FtgieKaaXT Whatever. She thought wrong. #FreeKate #KaitlynHunt #KatesFight

You keep on, Rachel. Keep on ranting about how Kaitlyn Hunt is a victim of “hate,” and I’ll keep calling attention to sick freaks like you.
UPDATE: Kaitlyn Hunt Gets Another Plea Offer.

RCZ, having decided that Kate Hunt is a victim, is clearly capable of viewing the world upside down and inside out. The perceptions in RCZ’s mind are apparently in some cases opposite of reality. So the idea that RCZ is likewise a victim — yeah, sure, she believes that. Because she’s dangerously crazy.

Sorry, but still not feeling a great deal of moral outrage because an 18 year old finger banged her 14 year old high school classmate and girlfriend inside a totally consensual relationship. Regardless of what conservatives think it’s a fairly normal occurrence in high schools for seniors to date freshman and before the panic about underage sex cropped up over the last decade or so was greeted as no big deal by fellow students, teachers, and administrators. And before you start I understand Hunt broke the law but that doesn’t change the context of it one bit. I understand that conservatives are rule based people so of course the breaking of the law and the legal definitions of rape is what causes outrage regardless of the particulars but it’s not the same for people who put more emphasis on context and the context here is an 18 year old having a consensual fling with a fellow classmate who happens to be 14(a mere 3 years her junior)regardless of whether or not the law calls it rape. What it isn’t is molestation of a child(an 18 year old with say an 8 year old) or forcible rape of person or child. It just barely doesnt qualify under the Romeo and Juliet statute. If that makes me an anarchist, then so be it. Will Hunt be convicted? Yes, but that’s more of problem with our legal code than anything else.
You need to find better use for your energy rather than going on a moral crusade because an 18 year old had a sexual relationship with a 14 year old.
Joey wrote:
It’s been awhile since I took calculus, but I could swear that I remember 18 – 14 = 4, not 3.
Just barely meaning two years, not one.
At what point would you say that a child could not consent to sex, period, with an 18 year old: 13? Or 12? How ’bout 11? You must have some idea!

Joey, what’s your preference…9 year olds?
I’m surprised the teachers weren’t up in arms as Kate was reducing the target rich environment for the to get busy with
Girls or boys???
18 year old finger banged her 14 year old high school classmate and girlfriend inside a totally consensual relationship.
Impossible to be “consensual”. Nothing about that would indicate that, aside from the legal definition.
“Fingerbanging” in the bathroom with a lookout staged doesn’t seem “consensual” to me.
Then there’s the problem with your narrative and the 28 year old “girlfriend” for Hunt…
And before you start I understand Hunt broke the law but that doesn’t change the context of it one bit.
Then you don’t understand at all. So you can’t understand context.
Yes, but that’s more of problem with our legal code than anything else.
And her behavior afterward, which was predatory, illegal, and unethical – and she knew it.
Bad Causes Attract Bad People: Now That the ‘Free Kate’ Narrative Has Collapsed … http://t.co/gItiBmlg3a
I would say 14 should be the legal cutoff. And when I referenced the age difference I simply meant to say it was under 4 years. I believe the Romeo and Juliet statute is for 3 years age difference so if she was 15, which she was less than a year short of, then it would qualify. And again, I don’t care about this and don’t feel any particular outrage over it.
A 18 year old molesting a 14 year old isn’t worthy of moral outrage?
We differ in opinion. The law is on our side, and for good reason.
And again, I don’t care about this and don’t feel any particular outrage over it.
I think you’re missing context and understanding again. It shows.
I like adult women. Sorry to burst your bubble. I can’t but feel that going on a crusade over what is a fairly common occurrence amongst high school kids is a waste of time and energy and points to a serious mental problem.
RT @thatMrGguy: Bad Causes Attract Bad People: Now That the ‘Free Kate’ Narrative Has Collapsed … http://t.co/gItiBmlg3a
And there’s that context thing I was talking about which you’re unaware of and don’t understand and instead slavishly react to any transgression of the rules regardless of how inane they happen to be. You can’t help it though, it’s part of your rigid mentality.
Is it really that common for high school seniors who are already old enough to vote to have sex in bathroom stalls with kids who aren’t even 15? If the 14yo had been my daughter, charges would have been filed a lot earlier than they were. And it wouldn’t matter whether the 18yo were male or female.
And anyway, just because something is “common” doesn’t mean it’s a good thing, and that we should just ignore it, or better yet, condone it.
going on a crusade over
You might want to talk to the Hunts about the “crusade”.
Had Kaitlyn taken the first plea deal, nobody would have heard of her, she’d not been in jail a single day, and she’d be free and clear shortly.
Instead, the Hunts went on the offensive – a crusade, if you will – smearing and attacking the victim’s parents, trying to drive (more) of a wedge between their daughter (the witness) and her parents.
That’s what got the attention – and when the 2nd plea deal was rejected – followed by the revelations of her behavior, contact, and continued molestation – yes, yes that deserves a “Crusade” against.
Ms. Carson-Zerbe appears to have a fondness for all things left/democrat.
I know, I was shocked, too.
So, you agree with the idea that there should be a cut-off age; it’s just that you disagree with where the cut-off age was set.
But the cut-off age was set, by law, through the people’s elected representatives, and they set it two years higher than 14. Would you suggest that we simply ignore the law because Miss Hunt is a real cutie pie? After all, there are young men in Florida prisons for doing the same crime of which Miss Hunt is accused.
Perhaps Miss Hunt would have a bit more sympathy had she adhered to the terms of her bail release, and had no contact with the victim. She had a couple of no-jail deals offered, with no sex-offender status, declined them, and now she’ll be extremely lucky to get off with time served and she’ll have sex-offender status. She is more than a cutie in luv; she’s a stalker.
Rachael does like to go on the attack, then claim victim status once someone quotes her.
Yes, you do have a very serious mental problem. Posting that this subject holds little interest for you, you then troll the comment section with your belief that is in direct opposition to those held by the posters here. Hmmm, what’s wrong with this scenario? You are a #FreeKate supporter come here to stir up outrage. To quote Finrod: “Go die in a fire troll”.
I’ll happily bring the ingredients for s’mores …
And in most cases, there are no cases. In this case, the victims parents warned Miss Hunt away, apparently more than once, but she persisted . . . so they went to the police. Miss Hunt is in trouble because she was too fornicating stupid to take an explicit warning.
So you think it’s okay for an 18-year-old college freshman to have sex with a 14-year-old 8th grader, huh?
RT @Professor_Why: Bad Causes Attract Bad People: Now That the ‘Free Kate’ Narrative Has Collapsed … http://t.co/UlTbhfzeFy
#1: 14-year-olds cannot legally give consent, so it wasn’t a consensual relationship.
#2: It actually is not “a fairly normal occurrence” for high school seniors to date freshman and it’s even less so regarding sex between the two groups.
#3: Finger-banging a minor girl in the school bathroom during class time, helping her run away from home so you can have sex with her, and shamelessly, severely violating a judge’s “no contact” order in order to have more sex with her is NOT a “fling.”
#4: 18 – 14 = 4, not 3.
Hmm… Use of the term “fling” to describe the relationship and horrible, horrible math to lie about the age difference as being “a mere 3 years…” Is that you, Rache? If I were a betting man, I’d place a lot of money on the possibility that it is.
I think “Joey” is Rachael. See above.
I worked in with teens in schools for years. It is extraordinarily uncommon for 18 year olds to date 14 year olds. It is considered creepy by most teens. If an 18 year old is looking for sex from a 14 year old most TEENS would rat that person out.
Don’t forget the hot teeny dildo action. Joey hasn’t.
No, I understand the context perfectly hence why Im not freaking out about an 18 year old having a 14 year old girlfriend. if I was rule based I’d be going on and on about how it’s rape and how she couldn’t consent but we all know that’s bullshit. Or at least rational people do.
