Andrew Sullivan’s Psychiatric Evaluation

Ann Althouse calls attention to the latest scientific research by that eminent British physician, Dr. Andrew Sullivan, OB-GYN:

“I regard this development as one of the more insidious and anti-constitutional acts of racist vandalism against the American republic in my adult lifetime. Those who keep talking as if there are two sides to this, when there are not, are as much a part of the vandalism as Ted Cruz.”

Evidently, having finished his investigation of the Alaskan Republican uterus scandal, now Dr. Sullivan has decided to explore new frontiers in the emerging field of Texas Republican racial psychiatry.

    Sullivan has a knack for stringing words together in a way that makes his assertions, no matter how completely groundless, sound unequivocally certain. Then I think back about how he spent two years of his life completely and totally obsessed with trying to persuade sane people to believe his over the top fantasies about Palin’s relationship to her son, and I truly marvel that some people actually pay a monthly subscription to read his crazy rants and ravings. P.T. Barnum was right.

    Another salvo from RawMuscleGlutes.

    The drug cocktail that man has been on for upwards of 15 years (which has included testosterone injections) was a novelty at the time they were first administered. Like the anti-psychotic drugs in use ca. 1970 or some of the anti -cancer drugs in use ca. 1975, we may be discovering downstream consequences no one imagined in any public forum.

    Some time ago, he was in danger of being deported because he never received a proper resident aliens’ visa (presumably just student and work visas whose expiration was for 20 years post-poned again and again by are always-on-top-of-it immigration authorities). Why was that not done?

    I’m not opposed to doing this because it breaks The Rules, but as long as we’re talking about how Sullivan strings words together, it’s a stone-cold lock that he’s going to start at least three sentences with “And” in every essay. By itself it doesn’t bother me, but it’s predictable and overused.

    Some of us used to read a lot of Sullivan, so I find myself wondering: when did you first clue in to his b-s? For me it was when he came back from his January break in 2004 casually dismissing the Swift-Boaters.
